Just an additional Service for all our members! (though as of now, am not able to manage the flood of posts tht u guys put up each day ) Alrite, its something like this... When we register anywhere, we tend to just put in anything tht first props in our mind. But later we feel as if we cud have had a better USERNAME. like i got mine changed from chirag >>to>> Chirag ... u can now send a request for change of ur USERNAME at the forum Post ur old username and ur new username here and i'll change it for u'll. But just be patient coz this added service can be quite a burden... Be patient, but be assured i'll surely do it for u'll... Please request the change only once, so use it wisely! GO AHEAD!

As you all know, that there has been a splash of new handsets being launched by RIM. And its been vey difficult for us to keep pace with it. In this thread u guys can point out, if theres any handset missing from the list on the PROFILE page! Sometime back i did update the list, but i completely forgot the SLIM handset and the LSI Cordless. Jus added all of tht n the new Nokia ones as well. Request :: Please update your profiles very soon, such that in the next round of statistics by Ashok, we'd have a better picture of the handset types in the forum!

Hey Recently my friend asked me which Reliance CDMA handset he should buy given his constraints, and i realised how I'm disconnected from this forum these days and I had to tell him, give me a day or so and I'll get back!! So i'm making a come back here and i would be around on the forum more often now! I went through several posts trying to figure out which handset would suit my friend's requirements. I would like fellow forum members to make their comments. My friend is looking for... 1. Will be on Reliance CDMA network for as long Number Portability doesn't come 2. Has an existing Reliance CDMA number and doesn't want to change it till such time. 3. The current handset is in such a state that he feels embarrassed in business meetings (N6235) 4. Budget is 12k. (But given the handset is good, can stretch the budget) 5. Bluetooth, 512mb+ memory, Camera are must & Email, Browsing would be loved to have. 6. A Nokia Loyalist so far. (isn't sure abt Samsung, Blackberry or HTC performance and issues) From my observations on the posts around, I narrowed down that Nokia 6275 still seems to rock and the prices haven't really gone down. (Thats insane) Other's that I managed to narrow down were Samsung F309, HTC Wave & Blackberry Pearl. Can you pls comment or recommend on any handset?

If u have got a verification email and once u went there and got "Registration Failure", it just means that your email id is verified. Just login normally and vote. I guess SMS voting is the easiest and fastest. And akshat, i've been quite occupied with work and life at my end. I miss RIMweb as much! :-) But i'm in touch with alot of u offline and that helps! Thnx for being there with me! We have reached Rank 80... and by tomo we got to make it to Rank 30. need roughly 150 votes more for that! Keep voting guys! :-) -

Astrology, a jackpot for mobile firms! Hemangi Balse in Mumbai | May 14, 2005 Rediff.com Want to know which time of the day, month, or year is the most auspicious for you to embark on your new project? Forget running all the way to your favourite astrologer. Predictions and advice are just a cellphone call away. Astro service is now the new money-spinner for the mobile phone business. Bharti Tele-Ventures, Idea Cellular, Tata Indicom and Reliance Infocomm are vying for a large pie of this business, which appeals to the Indian psyche. Whether the subscribers are getting the right advice from astrologers is debatable. But, at least, they are predicting a bright future for the telecom companies. With astrology and its allied activities considered to be a whopping Rs 40,000 crore (Rs 400 billion) business, this service is being lapped up by end users like never before. In Gujarat, which is considered to be a big market, Bharti Tele-Ventures that launched the service last year has outsourced it to a private call centre which earlier catered to queries online. Now, with about 40 astrologers working on two shifts, the service is now exclusive to Bharti's Gujarat subscribers. "We offer this service across the country in all circles. But the demand is more in Gujarat. It is very popular and our fixed lines, too, cater to the clientele," says a Bharti Tele-Venture executive. In fact, the telecom industry is fast realising that passion for astrology is highly region-specific. Reliance Infocomm takes into consideration the choghadiya (auspicious period during the day) while offering this service in Gujarat. Down south, subscribers are keen to know the rahu kalam, the inauspicious period during the day. Until April this year, Tata Indicom was offering its service free. Now, it charges Rs 6 per minute for a query posted on the voice portal 1590. The fee is Rs 2 for any query through the short messaging service (SMS) for a post-paid customer and Re 1 for a pre-paid customer. Reliance offers two options. Its monthly subscription tag is Rs 25, while a daily pass is for Rs 3. Bharti's tariff is similar to Tata Indicom. Idea Cellular, Hutchison Essar and CDMA service operator Tata Teleservices have also launched this service through 'Ganesha Speaks', a programme spearheaded by noted astrologer Bejan Daruwalla. This service is available to all pre-paid and post-paid customers without any additional subscription charge. Says Hemang Pandit, chief executive officer of Ganesha Speaks: "We have five call centres across the country. On an average, we receive anywhere between 2,500 and 3,000 calls every day." He claims that one-third of the calls are routed to Ahmedabad where about 60 astrologers work in three shifts. There are plans to increase its current roster of 120 astrologers. And what do they advise? Predictions apart, there's a mad rush to know the muhurtam or auspicious time for attending job interviews, meeting prospective brides and starting new ventures. "We receive at least 1,000 calls a month only on astrology in the Gujarat circle, which is part of our voice portal. With similar demands pouring in from other centres, we are planning a few astrology call centres. It is the highest revenue earner for us," says the Bharti Tele-Ventures executive. Reliance's R-World service, which went 'paid' from April 1 this year, has an interactive system to tackle subscriber queries. "We cover as many as 11 streams of astrology ranging from Feng Shui, horoscope and love match to numerology, tithi, tarrot, Vastu, rashi and hora besides choghadiya and rahu kalam," says a Reliance Infocomm executive. So move over ringtones, cricket scores, songs and wallpaper downloads. An astrologer predicts that your days are numbered.

I got this in my email from one of our members here... Well Raj, Its definitely possible to know another RIM user's no. or the address from a RIM No. I dont know which handset u use... But i'll tell u abt how it happens in my handset LG 2030... The way to go abt wid this is... 1. Go to R-World on ur handset. 2. Select "R- Guide" or "Guides" (this happens to be option 10 for me) 3. Select "RIM Dir" (Option 3) Case 1. Incase u know the RIM no. of a person and need to find the address from the no. 4. Select "Name-Address" 5. Type the RIM No. for whose address u r searching for, SAVE 6. Select SEARCH If the RIM no. is listed, it will pop up there... Case 2. Incase u want to know the RIM no. of a person staying in ur vicinity: 4. Select "Local Number" 5. Type the "Surname" or "First Name" or "Location" of the person 6. Select SEARCH Try and be very specific in typing the Surname or First Name. While typing Location, be specific and longer too such that u find a No. Case 3. Incase u want to know the RIM no. of a person staying outside ur City: 4. select the apt "State" 5. Enter the City name 6. Select the correct City Name 7. and then follow steps 4-6 of Case 2. I have a question now... If i enter the any name say CHIRAG in the search, i always tend to end up with "Found too many entries". Now can someone tell me, how can i be more specific in givin the first name or last name other than the one which it is....!!???

Absolutely Hetal, I've been using Google Apps with Arun's help for several webdomains of mine. Will be soon using it for Colleges in Mumbai as well. I think what sets google apart is its suite of applications around its Gmail. I cant imagine my life without GoogleDocs, GoogleCalendar or Gmail ! My office colleagues are soon getting used to all GoogleApps! Its amazing to see their faces smile!! I've never had Spam issues with Gmail either. Ensure that u report to Spam for every such mail that lands in ur inbox. and similar ensure that u mark NOT SPAM for every mail that wrongly goes into SPAM folders. By just doing this a few times, our office accounts are safe now! we r saving huge monthly broadband bills now just coz SPAM doesn't get downloaded in our MS Outlook anymore! Google Rocks!

Battery Life really s**ks in 6275 as compared to all other Nokia CDMA handsets. I've bought it for 9800 in Mumbai (with bill). Visit Maruti Communications, Kurla (W). Opp Asha (IndianOil) Petrol Pump, LBS Marg. Just outside BKC Complex.

Classic Handsets have become a rage in the market. After a long time, we have something from the Reliance Domain which is "affordable". Lately that was a bit amiss! So now that there are so many Classic Handsets, and each has its pros n cons... can we throw some more light on comparing those handsets to each other? If price is not an issue, which one do you feel is the BEST CLASSIC PHONE ?? Lets rate it in its Categories... Best B/W Classic Phone & Best Colour Classic Phone and so on and so forth...

I've disappeared into heaps of work! There used to be days when i'd login thrice a day or even more and moderate the posts every now and then. But with more responsibilities i login rarely. Thats exactly why Arun keeps adding moderators as and when required to control the load on the forum. I absolutely adore the way Arun manages this forum! There are months you wont see him here, but u wont find anything hanging around for a lack of decision. Thats why u see RIMweb where it is today!

Thnx a million... Its so nice of you'll to remember my b'day. Arun ensured that i come to this thread and read this as well. Thnx so much, Arun!! Thank you so much, once again!

Prathod, Taken!! If you have more than "Certain" number of Connections in your house/office, preferably post-paid ones, Reliance arranges an in-house network booster. So you wont require a Wired Antenna!! And trust me, wired antenna at your office desk is thousand times better than not having network. I see my colleague breaking his head with Hutch who is not able to provide him any network solution after last 5months of continuous follow-ups. Gavnit, my monthly outgo ranges between 600-800! Am sure that is not their criteria.
