Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
Himanshu Singh replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Its a welcome news. I have just one doubt about the number portability though. Consider those who use on net calls or if the service provider itself offers lower on net calls. Now such users wont know for sure if a particular number still belongs to same network or it shifted to another network? There should be a way to know which number is on which network. -

Loop Telecom's Tamil Nadu, Orissa Launches Next Week
Himanshu Singh replied to ravi_patent's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
They will do anything to get away with the mandate of licensing conditions. I think they have already admitted that its not a commercial launch but they are forced to launch otherwise the penalty looms large in their faces. They will get subscribers though as there are always many unsatisfied cell users. -
Loop Telecom's Tamil Nadu, Orissa Launches Next Week
Himanshu Singh replied to ravi_patent's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
It is not 10 percent market share or subscriber share. Its only infrastructure being in place for 10 per cent of district head quarters with or without subscribers. -

Trai Asks Telcos To Take Written Consent Of Users On Vas
Himanshu Singh replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Its the need of the hour. TRAI must tighten the screws on telecom operators for value added services. because value added services attract lower revenue sharing with government all companies have devised tricks to increase their earnings from VAS. Mtnl follows a very transparent policy. if you make a request for a service activation they would give you a confirmation call before actually activating it. thats the way telcos should be ordered to do this. -

Rcom Employee Suicides & Many Sacked
Himanshu Singh replied to Saurav's topic in Reliance Communications
I am not too sure about the authenticity of this news. such things dont get away un reported in a competitive world. rivals of RCOMM would have leaked this to media houses had such thing happened. -
Std Pack 35 Increased To Rs 40 For 50 Mins
Himanshu Singh replied to M_VIJAY's topic in Miscellaneous
Even improvement in quality is not a given thing with entry of new operators. it may well happen but not in near future. its going to take one to two years before things start looking up. -
Std Pack 35 Increased To Rs 40 For 50 Mins
Himanshu Singh replied to M_VIJAY's topic in Miscellaneous
Precisely the point i wanted to put across. The entry of more operators does not necessarily mean further cuts. Call tariffs will never go down in the present regime. -

ANOTHER INSTANCE OF CALL RATE HIKE. WE SHOULD STOP EXPECTING FOR TARIFF CUTS ANYMORE. used caps for bringing home the point not to offend anyone. -

Virgin Reduces Get Paid On Incoming Benefit
Himanshu Singh posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
New customers on all profiles effective 29th March’09 will get GPRC benefit on incoming calls at the rate of 5paise for every 60 seconds incoming · Existing Virgin mobile brand customers who have completed 6 months will get 5paise credit on every 60 seconds incoming ,effective 1st May’09 · Remaining customers will start getting the revised benefit (of 5p credit on incoming calls ) as and when they complete 6 months with us. This is due to the reduction in termination fee I am sure. I had anticipated in this forum that Virgin might do away with this benefit of get paid on incoming. They have reduced it from 10 paise to 5 paise. -

Idea is 2nd only to Reliance in fooling customers by offering quite too many similar but marginally different STVs. -
Tata Introduces Fair Usage Policy On Broadband
Himanshu Singh replied to Harshal's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
whosoever beleived in the adage of more players mean more competition means less costs would be shocked at the recent moves made by all telecom operators. i think the realisation has dawned upon players small and big that tariffs cant go down anymore. competitive pricing is a dead word now. things would get costlier one by one is what i feel. consumers had had enough by the way of ever falling tariffs. now its the turn of operators to tighten the screws on the vulnerable consumers after they have become sure me ties marker shares. newer players would follow suit sooner rather than later. -
Reliance has launched unlimited on net recharge option of Rs.169 which allows free calls to Gsm network valid for 30 days. I guess its Aircel effect.

Reliance Gsm Introduces National Sms Scheme
Himanshu Singh replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Miscellaneous
Infact reliance is swimming in opposite direction. In Delhi GSM operators have better sms plans in pre paid than post paid. Most dont even have sms packs in many of postpaid plans. While reliance has many sms packs for post paid subscribers but few for locals. -

Cvc Wants Probe If Dot, Trai Officials Connived With Airtel
Himanshu Singh replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Last April it was Airtel which reduced std tariff from 2.75 to 1.5. But it came as cost to other operators who were using Airtel for carrying their std traffic. We must remember there are only a few operators which had pan india nld at that time and even now. BSNL does not carry any std traffic from private operators as far as i know. As already mentioned above Airtel increased the carriage fee from 25 paise to 55 paise. the result was that operators like idea had to shell out a lot more. Thats why you find that while roaming idea says in circles where it has tie up with airtel roaming rates are still 1.4 for local and 2.75 for std. i am sure airtel has committed something wrong. -

Mts Lifetime Sim @ 49
Himanshu Singh replied to savramesh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I love this. 8-10 operators in every circle is a very welcome thing. It certainly empower the customers. It will discourage any further attempts at cartelisation. Kerala and TN have max number of operators I guess. Soon with Tata coming into GSM one more pan india provider would be present everywhere. Throw in the new licensees who are waiting to launch services and you get a success story unparalleled in Indian economy.
