  1. me thinks, Reliance is gonna go back to its original plan of being a WLL operator in the CDMA segment. And start GSM services to compete with other ops. Wow are we seeing the end of CDMA? If reliance couldn't pull it off then I dont think anybody can...
  2. haha...i was just about to post the same comparison! If only if CDMA manufacturers can come out with kick a$$ handsets which needn't be tied to any one particular operator then GSM will die soon! Can anyone tell me the reason why each handset on CDMA network has to be tailored for the network? Why cant handsets be used in a generic way as in GSM?
  3. The main argument for GSM is that there is too much money already invested in the infrastructure, so even if CDMA is technologically advanced, it can't beat it because there are several 100 billion dollars at stake here. Unless CDMA matches GSM in all respects including excellent handsets, lower costs (both operators and users), more users per MHz and easy transition from GSM to CDMA( both operators and users), I dont think the world will switch to CDMA. As an example some CDMA operator is USA has currently stopped its network and is changing to GSM...
  4. I guess the problem for Reliance is higher costs, lesser interoperability. Plus, the onus of selecting, testing, programming handsets for its network lies on Reliance. I dunno of RUIM solves this issue completely. But until users get the same / better handsets on CDMA networks they just aren't gonna budge. Besides mobility is much easier in GSM than CDMA i.e. shifting operators.
  5. Cpu

Dude, you haven't seen Conroe yet. Did you take a look at the Core Duo benchmarks? Its kicking AMD *** >
  6. ahahhahhaaahhahaa....welcome to the world of GSM, Reliance
  7. Cpu

if you can wait then wait for the new intel core duo CPUs. They will give you the best performance in terms of video editing and stuff. The current Pentium-Ds run too hot. If you have urgent requirements then go in for AMD64 X2 processors.
  8. haha...thats what the CDMA operators need to learn. People need mobility. They like to change their operators quickly and cost effectively if they dont like their service. So RIUM would be a great move by both TATA and RIM.
  9. Has anyone seen the latest ad of the ADAG? Its basically a speech by Amitabh Bachchan!
  10. New Look of Reliance Infocomm Website

i wasnt expecting such a poor launch of ADAE. I mean after the Reliance IndiaMobile launch of 2003, this is looking like a shabby job...

  22. New Rim Connection

Hi people, I am thinking to shift to RIM. I already owned a DAPO connection but my mums using it and I wanna get a new one for myself. Hutch is turning out to be costly... Anyway, I want to go in for the New NJ199 plan where I get Rs.199 free local talktime. See here for the plan: http://www.relianceinfo.com/Infocomm/Rim/n...ans_tariff.html I plan to go in for the Kyocera SE47 (Slider) handset because I couldn't find any other decent handsets. Here are my questions to all you RIM veterans: -> Handset related 1. Is the handset good? 2. Can you suggest a better / cost effective handset? ( All I want is a big color display with decent features like send to many in SMS, call log and stuff ). 3. Whats the approx. price for this handset? 4. How is Kyocera service centre in Mumbai? Good? Bad? Evil? 5. Can I use my own handset? If I dont wanna purchase one from reliance?? -> Plan related 1. Can I use some kinda SMS pack with the connection so that I get 5000 / 18000 local SMSes free? ( like the prepaid one? ) 2. Do I get a itemized bill by default? 3. Is there any extra cost for itemized bills? 4. Can I check my bill during the month? ( V.IMP for me as I can control my bill amount! ). 5. Can I use my handset in Maharashtra / Goa? 6. Do I incurr any extra cost? 7. How am I billed? 8. If I make local calls (say in Pune) then will they be local or will I be charged Mumbai-Pune call charge? 9. Will those calls be deducted from the Rs.199/- free local talktime or will they be charged outside the Rs.199? 10. What are the costs of roaming outside Maharashtra/Goa in case Maharashtra/Goa is local for me? 11. Do I have a choice when I get a no? Finally, I dont want to go in for Prepaid as far as possible because not only will it turn out costlier ( may be? ) but also I have seen a lot of people complain of unjust deductions of their balance and they cant reason with Reliance CC! Sorry for the long list of questions. Hope someone really answers all of them patiently! Edit: I seem to have posted in the wrong forum. Will a mod / admin please move this thread to the RIM Postpaid forum?
  23. New Rim Connection

  24. All about LG 2630

LG Phones have a very bad finish. Nokia low and mid range phones have bad finish too. I find Samsung phones have an excellent finish - be it low/mid/high range!
  25. telecom infrastructure is inherently designed for high uptimes unlike our stoopid cable isps...
