Hi, I would like to know what are the options of sending money abroad and receiving money in India. For example, I can buy something online using my credit card. But what about when someone wants to send me money? I dont want to use PayPal as I understand it involves some cost to maintain the account. Do banks like SBI, ICICI etc... offer overseas money transfers? How much does it cost for someone to send me money? I know ICICI doesn't charge anything for transfering money to any of its branches across India through its NetBanking facility. What about International transfers? Are they allowed? To which banks? What are the costs involved for the sender and receiver? Thanks

hmm...i would suggest writing to the chairman's office... I doubt reliance would provide these details to the general public though.

aha...so they are starting to rip off the metros before shifting to other cities... :| AFAIK, 3G technologies require a decent network, which atm nobody is providing!

Help Needed! Some Netwroking Problem
linuxguy replied to abhay's topic in General Technical Discussion
Uh...your problem is a very complicated one. You wont be able to "connect" through MTNL and then "continue" your session into sify. It's simply because, whatever happens, once your connection is transferred to Sify, you wont get a public IP means, no computer will be able to bind to a port on your IP lest the server forwards ports to your comp . But making Sify guys do that is next to impossible! You better go in for an ISP which provides "unlimited" connections along with a public IP -
This isn't enough. What are they going to do about the problem?!

RIM Isn't being very competitive lately. Wonder how they are gonna capture that 25% :|

Chirag, what do you mean by 'profit making' websites? Suppose I offer webdesign services and i have a website which has all the info regarding it. Will it be considered a 'profit making' website?

let me get you straight. You want MTNL for the public IP while you want Sify for the download/upload? -

WTF?!!!! Yes. that is a HUGE WTF. Down with Maran!! ******!!! All hopes of broadband are down the drain! And why the HELL does he want 100% copper penetration when all countries are now moving to OFC?!! By the time we weave 100% copper in the HUGE country, everyone would've moved to something MUCH better. India is going to remain a f*cking 3rd World backward country with ministers like these!

oh boy, reliance is down the drain. Airtel is down the sewer too now! I contacted airtel CC two days ago and they gave me SHOCKING news. All along for 2 months I had been fooled by Airtel CCs. They said that Airtel BB is available only at one builing in my locality and it wont be less than 6 months that they will get even a digging order in my area. They said it can be easily 1 year before I can see any airtel BB at my place...

is this good or bad?

read it on his blog. I think the court gave an exparte verdict and ordered Sify to change its ads to reflect the limits it imposed. Also it made Sify classify their plans differently (it was classifying 64K, 96K, 128K as BB) and made them pay a few thousand bucks in compensation. But i am NOT sure of this verdict...

RIC, are/were you a Reliance Employee?

abhay, it wont matter until and unless MTNL removes the silly limits it has on its DSL plans! I want 256K/512K/1024K unlimited at Rs.200/300/400 respectively! No download caps and NO port caps AND Public IPs. Besides, the prices are STILL waay tooo high. A E1 line (2Mbps) in Europe costs around 3,90,000 a year while in India, it still costs MORE THAN 3 times the cost! http://www.onestopclick.com/Related_Items/...Lines.asp#Costs http://wireless.iop.org/articles/feature/6/10/2 http://www.newnet.co.uk/leasedlines/ http://www.demon.nl/eng/products/access/le...linescosts.html There are more links.
