1. You dont need tar.gz files to install softwares. Tell us the specific softwares you want to install. This can be very well accomplished using apt-get, yum or the likes 2. Refer to no.1 3. No need. Port forward and firewall settings 4. Try kget 5. Which office are you takling about? Koffice? OO? 6. Use gThumb Image Viewer. Its simple and useful. -
which is absolutely amazing for a line that is supposed to be 256Kbps! Good value for money

Simple: Internet ----( Phone cable )---> MTNL DSL Router ---( Cat5e cable )---> WAP ----( wifi )----> Laptop First establish a wifi link between the WAP and laptop. You simply need to put in an ESSID in the WAP and tell it to activate the wireless network. Once that is done, simply configure the laptop. For this you need to scan for networks. You'll find a network with your ESSID. Click connect and it should connect. Next, The DSL router should be configured to autologin. Just plugin the DSL router's LAN output to any of the ports ( not internet port ) of the WAP. Now, simply configure the laptop's wifi card to get the TCP/IP settings via DHCP. You should get a IP like 192.168.1.3. When you get the IP you'll be set to surf!

I think people have stopped trusting TATA now. Thats why Ratan Tata needs to save face and what better startegy than to rebrand it under someone else's name? Hehee...Virgin is gonna go back sore... I've lost all hopes in Ratan Tata and TATA as a brand. TATAMotors, TATA Indicom, VSNL ( now TATA ) all three **** big time!

Roaming Charges Are Set To Fall By February 2007
linuxguy replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
what is TRAI doing? NOTHING! Did it stop Reliance from suddenly increasing tariffs on ALL services within a short span of time? -
its a GSM phone. It cant be used with CDMA networks!
-
Its called recycling not 'giving it to someone else'

anujit, no need to drag God into all these things With IP networks with HUGE capacities, its pretty simple. Everyone can talk to everyone at the sametime with such networks. Its no rocket science! This is not possible with GSM / CDMA networks as they are circuit switched while IP networks are packet switched spdf, no yaar. that is not possible. The cable operators will win easily. With IPTV they can't put a limit on datatransfers. Infact there is no need to put any limits as IPTV is only onnet data transfer which is dirt cheap for them. With broadband they can do it as they are paying for the international bandwidth...

arun, Reliance wants to make fast money. It must've come to know of TRAI's impending decision so it decided to make hay while the sun is still shining cuz later on TRAI's stick will come down hard on every operator's arse -
how did u get it at 320Kbps? Did you upsample the 128Kbps mp3 or ripped it again from the DVD? If its the prior case then its not going to work!
