Umm...with the amount of load shedding that the ENTIRE country sees, I think the broadband companies will have a ball! They can charge us 1 month's fee while we get to use the broadband only for a few hours when the power is on! But even during that time we will be busy doing things of greater importance.... This dumb government doesn't even have the brains to first sort out the ACUTE shortage of electricity. New Delhi, the capital of this "great country", itself faces HUGE power cuts so forget about that remote village even getting power let alone broadband....
-
This is SENSELESS. Why does the government want to provide broadband connections in the villages when there is no electricity there in the FIRST place? Why don't they concentrate on ELECTRIFICATION and then BROADBAND??!! There is not even decent broadband in the cities which are supposed to the industrial / commercial / financial hubs of the country! and they want to "empower" the farmer! WTF will he do? Watch some *** before going to plough his fields?

Sify must be tried in court for its Stupidity >
-
How long are they going to make us wait for broadband in India?
-
Somebody should hack their freakin' servers and turn them into spam guzzling boxes. That will blacklist $tupid $ify and keep them from operating in India! > No internet connection is better than the torcher called as Sify....

a friend already rang up the delhi cc. they are clueless...

Umm...NAT isn't so much of a problem for ISPs. It saves them heck lot of money! Imagine giving each and every user of the ISP a public IP! It will cost them too much if their user base exceeds a million or so. IPv4 simply doesnt have so many IPs to give out. Just imagine how much money they will save if they NAT 10 people behind a single router which has a public IP! 10 for the cost of 1!

spookie, do you really live in mumbai? You got the Airtel tarrifs wrong! Airtel tarrifs are as follows: 1. Local cell phones -Rs.1 2. Local landlines and other phones - Rs.2 Thats it! No extra Rs25 crap...
-
no yaar! Its for regular people like you and me!
-
Hutch, Orange are both VERY costly. For example, Orange prepaid yearly refill costs 3300 bucks. They give you back 2995 bucks. The call charges are an ASTRONOMICAL Rs.2 for any phone! While Airtel charges 3300 bucks for the yearly refill and you get back 3000 bucks BUT they charge you only Rs.1 for Airtel to mobile(any) calls and Rs.2 for calling up landlines. To get such a reduction of tarrifs in Orange, you need to pay them Rs.25 monthly! So what you get in 3000 bucks in airtel you get the same from orange for 2695!!!
-
Not true. You can be very well NATed behind a single router and given a private IP
-
Airtel are big spammers. They have been accused of "stealing" customer databases of rival operators and spamming them with messages and calls. As far as orange is concerned, i have a big beef with them. They are expensive and they have poor network coverage in our area. They dont admit the problem but all the orange customers here face the same problem - Terrible network and dropped calls!
-
I am an Indian customer and dialup or the so called $hitty broadband is NOT sufficient for me! May be we should go and break the heads of the stupid MTNL people. May be then they will offer something good
-
chirag, i went to the airtel gallery. they said they do have dsl services in mumbai. they also gave me the address of their lower parel office. they said they dont give any phone numbers cuz its "walkin". bull $$$$
-
They are very much aware of the situation. They are just not opening up the market because their cheap hardware will start failing pretty quickly AND VoIP will put a huge hole through their pockets!
-
damn it! can you get me some phone numbers where i can get in touch with these guys? I am really busy right now so I can't get off my sorry arse and visit their lower parel office!
-
This is just plain stupid. They will give us 100Mbps super broadband connections and put a download cap of 10MB. What then? Will it still be called progress? We must revolt against this kind of stupid reports by TRAI.
-
government is freakin' hungry for money!
-
Indian Powerline broadband! 1Mbps connection BUT only 500MB download cap per month! :|
-
2-3KBps for a 256Kbps (32KBps) connection is unacceptable. I have a 64Kbps (8KBps) connection and I get 5-7KBps regularly on torrents. Are you sure that he is giving you a reliance broadband connection or is he giving you powersurfer.net connection? Reliance broadband shouldn't come with a 24OnlineClient. It should be a PPPoE connection. Where exactly are you located??

Have you edited anything else in the contents of the letter except for the date and your phone number? Because this letter seems too unprofessional and too vague. They haven't mentioned the complainiant, the details of the complaint, the product that whose copyright was infringed. Too vague...

Thanks for the info. I'll contact them and find out...

It will be a success for the lower economic strata can go mobile for as little as Rs.80/- per month. Plus TATAs must be taking out some recharge voucher which will optionally allow voice calls / SMS by paying some small fee...

Anybody got Airtel Office numbers in Mumbai? Please post 'em here.
-
I was contacted by Airtel 2-3 days ago regarding their new post-paid plans ( cellphone ). I asked them regarding their Fixed Line services and Broadband. They said that they are currently providing certain areas with lines and they told me to contact their lower parel office. However they couldn't give me any phone number. The thing that got my attention was, I confirmed with the exec and then asked to speak to her superior. He too confirmed it. So I guess they will be starting their services in Mumbai. Just tell me, how can a company like airtel ignore a HUGE market like Mumbai? After all we are the financial capital of India
