Bharti, Rel, Vsnl Deny Of Forming Cartel
linuxguy replied to abhay's topic in Reliance Communications
Utsav, Cartel : A group of companies or countries acting together to control the supply and price of certain goods or services. Cartels are formed to produce higher profits than would ordinarily be earned. I fully agree with the government. VSNL, Airtel and Reliance are forming a cartel!!!! -
Utsav, for a fast, stable connection you require atleast 100+ Kbps speeds.

vb86, no. Airtel has recently launched a 256Kbps Unlimited plan for Rs.900 + 10.2% service tax. And the 128Kbps unlimited is for Rs.600 only. That is what interested me! My friends in Delhi are enjoying this service. But unfortunately Mumbai has the crappiest ISPs every...

what does my id mean??? guess!

Bleh, i have a very slow connection. It's supposed to be a 64Kbps but I get only 40-50Kbps. So no VOIP for me. Also, trai is such a b*tch that they wont open up the bandwidth to the common people. VoIP will greatly hurt telcos in India if TRAI opens it up!

Thanks for the comment mukul but i was really interested in knowing Airtel's availability in Mumbai.

I am looking to buy Nokia 6030 in Mumbai. I want to exchange my Samsung C100. It's in excellent condition. Only 10 months old. No scratches. How much would I get for the C100? I inquired with a few dealers and the maximum offer I was getting was of ~2000 bucks. But i have bought this phone for ~6000 bucks! Where will I get the max. price for my c100? And where will I get the best deal for the Nokia 6030?? Also, I am not sure whether I want to go in for the nokia 6030. I want a phone with FM and it should cost around 5300-5500 bucks. I didnt find any other nokia phone which fits my budget. Does Sony Ericcson, Samsung, LG, Phillips etc... have a phone which matches my requirements? <TOPIC MOVED!>

Thanks guys for your help. Utsav, only one model has FM and I didn't like the looks very much. But thanks for the suggestion amit, I already own a Samsung. But I don't want to go in for another Samsung as I am fed up with the user unfriendliness of samsung Mukul, where will i find pankaj verma? In the members list? Should I pm him?

sorry, i couldn't reply to you earlier. I really don't understand what could be the problem. I am guessing some software issue is keeping you from getting connected. Try another distro like debian or PCQLinux. They are known to work with Reliance mobiles!

Microsoft Sets Its Sites On Google Talk
linuxguy replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in General Technical Discussion
that was netscape. this is THE GOOGLE -
meh, orange sux. They haven't removed the concept of roaming. Only, charges to non-BSNL cells and landlines have been made "local"

Dear linuxguy, So what things you like or dislike about it comparing to MS os :-). What more features you want to have in it or are you completly satisfied with the distribution you are using. BTW please also consider from the context of a windows user while giving the feedback. Cheers .............................. 32274[/snapback] I think I would say I am completely satisfies with FC. I really dont know whether its lacking any features since I have just gotten used to it

wow, there is a lot of confusion! is this another tactic of telcos to rip us off?

Guys, today I got so frustrated with my ISP that I decided to search for "true" broadband in mumbai. I wasnt sure whether I would find a good one BUT I did find and NOT ONE BUT THREE!!! 1. Net4India - From the info I got, their base price is Rs.300/- and they charge you for the bandwidth that you buy. A 256Kbps connection comes to Rs.1000/- per month. Downside: 1. DL cap of 10G Upside: 1. Affordable 2. you get uncapped connection during the night. Meaning, you will get unmetered speed during the night. So you wont be limited by 256Kbps speed!! Link: http://www.net4india.com/html/bb-home.html 2. Exatt Net - They charge you Rs.720/- for a 256Kbps connection. The connection is VERY cheap if you buy an annual package. Downside: 1. Limited network in Mumbai. Upside: 1. VERY Afforable 2. No download limits!!! Link: http://exatt.net/schemes.htm 3. iGate - I really dunno who these guys are. Actually, I never heard of them but I found their reference on techtree's forums. I understand they operate in South Bombay. I couldnt even find their website. But people have heaps of good things to say about them! Downside: 1. Very little network in Mumbai. Link: Unknown Upside: 1. VERY Affordable 2. No download limits!! As you can see all these three ISPs have great offerings. I want your reviews. Please contact these ISPs and tell me whether they are ready to negotiate. Is it available in your area. Ask your friends who might be using these ISPs! Dig people dig!!!
-
Yes, I know the rates of exatt net's franchisees are pathetic. I was talking about getting the connection directly from exatt net. They have a very good infrastructure. I called up many ISPs since I wanted to change over from my local cable op. They all flatly refused. Apparently, the are quite afraid of him
-
I will go in for MTNL ONLY if they have unlimited downloads/uploads @ 256K or above. Did you guys know that internationally, broadband is defined 2Mbps and above!
-
Well, I am a Linux user since someitme now. I have 3 systems two of which have FC2. The third has only WinXP. One system triple boots with WinXP, WinME and FC2. I don't use windoze anymore. It's just for my family.

Will there be any roaming rental? or the entire "concept" of roaming will be totally removed in maharashtra? I spoke to the Orange CC and they refused to give out any info stating that they don't have any confirmation regarding it!
-
Try out firefox or mozilla browser.
-
Yeah, but it's running on WinXP platform. I forgot what the interface is called but they've got it custom made for RIL.
-
Have you tried M$. Antispyware? It's prolly some spyware.
-
I am with you buddy! 10Mbps for Rs.800 would be a dream which I am sure that our bandwidth hoarding f*cking ISPs will never allow
-
pretender, which package are you using? If you're using the 64Kbps package then you're getting good speeds. Upgrade to exatt net's 256Kbps @ Rs.720 per month. You'll see the difference mohan, exatt net *does* provide connectivity directly but only in certain areas. They generally provide internet in the franchisee model. My franchisee unfortunately doesnt provide the packages that exatt net provides... Guys, I know exatt net's uptime is really GOOD since my ISP buys his bandwidth from exatt net and his (my ISP's) servers are rarely down.

haha! more devices to infect! more business for norton, spybot haha!
