Which Is The Best Linux Distribution
linuxguy replied to deepu's topic in General Technical Discussion
I have used Redhat for quite sometime now. Currently, I am using FC2, why? Because everything works! -
wtf was wrong with Japan? They are hit by earthquakes every other day. They must have a similar or more advanced system in place!

How do you connect it to the PC? Which OSes does its software support(to transfer files)?? Which shop did you buy it at? Is it 'Made in China'?

TRAI intervenes, asks TATA, RIM to remove Advt
linuxguy replied to shan's topic in Reliance Communications
These companies are just out to con the regular user . I know their game plan very well. The samething happened with RIL users. First they advertise 40p/min rates to ANY phone with a 15s pulse. Then other cell ops make noise. TRAI tells RIL to "revise" its rates to pay ADC. Obviously reliance wont pay those ADCs from its own pocket. So it conns the millions of poor Indians. Thus RIL successfully changes its pulse from 15s to 60s and INCREASES its call charges 3x to Rs.1.20/min!!! IMO the samething is going to happen to the poor walky users. -
Bsnl Launched Broadband Service Data One!

No, they will mostly give you a DSL modem. Its very different from the regular V90 modem Guys, these companies will NEVER change unless some pioneering company (*cough*reliance*cough*) comes out with unlimited data transfer packages at DIRT CHEAP rates! Oh and another thing, I WANT A PUBLIC IP AND NOT A PRIVATE IP. For those guys who dont know what the difference a public and private ip is....well just think of it this way, if you get a private ip(something like 10.x.x.x) you wont be able to run any p2p programs like bittorrent, kazaa, gnutella etc... -
here is the answer: Our Indians companies are F****** RETARDS! Today, for some reason I had a look at yahoo broadband services in the US. They provide a 1.5Mbit DSL connection at $26.95pm with no hidden charges. Installation and DSL modem are free with the package. And obviously, unlimited downloads are implied. $26.95pm translates into 1,183.51 INR according to todays conversion rates . IMAGINE THESE RATES IN THE US! I mean the cost of living is VERY VERY high compared to India. So if the same connection would be available in India for the same price then I would grab it with both hands! As for the major bandwidth owners in India: 1. VSNL 2. Reliance 3. Tata These guys buy their bandwidth from God knows where! I dont know about VSNL and Reliance, but I know these guys have a LOT of bandwidth and they are just not releasing it for the common user! As for Tata, they have just pocketed 11,000TBits(yes thats 11,000 TERA BITS!!!) of UNLIT bandwidth. Unlit means they have 11000TBits of bandwidth REMAINING to be used. While they have a lot of bandwidth in use as of now. You may ask where the hell is all this bandwidth going? The answer is Call Centres!! Yes, they use VOIP for cheap communications. Right now these guys are like cell phone companies in the mid 90s when they used to charge like Rs.25/min for out going calls and Rs.22 or something for incoming calls. They are earning huge profits right now. But this sector needs some serious competition. We need to have more players. Give us more bandwidth and more speed!!! We need DEDICATED BROADBAND companies which use DSL, ADSL, WiFi, Cable etc... technologies. Right now we are seeing telecom companies giving us internet. But that is NOT right. These companies are mostly GSM and CDMA, incase of RIL or TATA. The technologies used are bull****. I recently did a bandwidth check on my 64Kbps connection and the bandwidth report commented that my bandwidth was poor and it was slower than the slowest modem connection in the US.... Oh, and did you know that now 256Kbps connections are no longer available in the US? They get only 384Kbps or 512Kbps as the minimum speed And did you know that China has doubled its bandwidth in the last 1.5 years? It has built so much IT infrastructure in that 1.5year which is equivalent to the IT infrastructure it built from 1990 to 2002.

i thought the download limit on reliance broadband was 10GB and NOT 1GB

bandwidth is the data transferred per month. so if there are a lot of people visiting the website then the website's bandwidth limit is exceeded pretty quickly.

only in India...

We need more people signing it! Spread the word people!!

i know that clause but the government doesnt allow consumers to be exploited by using that clause Otherwise reliance would have made the pulse of 1 hour and charged 1000bucks per call. From the "legal" point of view it too is correct because the consumer was informed that the tarrif can change without notice. But morally, ethically its wrong. What is the government for? What are the consumer protection rights for? They are in our constitution exactly for such purposes We have our rights! and we shall have them!

DAPO orginally was offering 15s pulse. They had the audacity to not even inform the users that their pulse & pulse rate has changed! > . My sister and I were visiting one of their dealers when we came to know that the pulse and pulse rate had been changed recently by reliance. I was so angry. The increased the pulse 4 times (15s to 60s) and the pulse rate 3 times(40p to 1.20p)!!!
-
exactly! Mobilize as many people as possible to sign the petition! Coupled with Mr.Agrawal's case it will be a definite slap in Reliance's face! We must have UNITY!!

erm...those are the installation instructions for Reliance dialer under GNU/Linux

Ms deliberately allows software piracy. It wouldnt be installed on the 99% machines today if it werent for piracy

That is absolute non-sense. ISPs are NEVER and i mean NEVER billed for the amount of data transferred. They are billed ONLY for the bandwidth they buy from the international backbones! So if some ISP(not small time guys) in India tells you that he is being billed by the amount of data transfer his network generates then just shoot him at the very instant! Because he is lying!
