i know. it would be a great move. but read carefully. they say they are going waive off the charges for the data uploaded / downloaded to make the voice calls. In effect what they are saying is that, we're going to charge you Rs.1.20 per 3 mins but the calls are now going to go through the IP network instead of the POTS network so there is going to be data downloaded/uploaded which we will waive off... Otherwise this is what the user will have to pay for each voice call he makes using VoIP i.e. call charge ( like Rs.1.20 per 3 mins for landline to landline ) + the data transfer the voice call consumes! Hehe...dont think they're going to give FREE calling all over Kolkata

umm..no...you just need to encode it at a higher bit rate like 256Kbps or 384Kbps. That would do the job! BTW 192Kbps is CD quality...

be careful with that piece of code!

Breaking The Microsoft Monoply - Changing The Os
linuxguy replied to tanveer's topic in General Technical Discussion
Different distros for different people. You have to try out several distributions before settling down with one. Obviously it depends on what you wanna do with it that will decide whether you should use it or not. A few examples: 1. Ubuntu, Mandriva - Desktop user 2. Fedora - All rounder 3. Debian, Slackware - advanced users interested more in setting up servers 4. Gentoo - Tweakers delight! But requires heavy bandwidth for downloading source packages There are several others but these are the most popular ones. Since you say you're not related to the computing industry, I guess Ubuntu or Mandriva should do the job for you. Also remember, an OS is generally made up of two parts - Kernel and Shell. Incase of any Linux OS, Linux is the kernel while the Shell is GNU. Now different communities add their own unique features to the shell as well as the kernel and release their own version ( distribution ) of GNU / Linux hence we have Redhat, Fedora, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Debian etc... Edit: Some of the distribution ( like Ubuntu ) can be first run off a CD which is quite useful if you just wanna try out the distro before actually installing it on your harddisk...! -
yup...now i too am hoping that Vodafone takes over Hutch instead of Reliance since with 40 odd million customers, Reliance will increase the tariffs uninhibitedly!
-
wow...awesome plan. but what is the minimum transaction amount on the card? also, can you get it for us in Mumbai? I mean a Mumbai card i.e.?
-
my dear friends, the bottom line is, India or any nation cannot police the internet! Its just an issue that the politicians are exploiting to gain mileage and kickbacks...

Pentium M 1.75GHz beats AMD64 X2 4800+. The P-M is not even a dual core processor for cryin' out loud!

NO.

Why the gigabyte board and not the intel original one? DG965RY?
-
I know. It has to rock. How much did it cost you? Did you get the boxed version or the OEM version? Where did you buy it from?

damn it! I missed the meet. I tried SO hard to make myself free but something just kept coming up I am eagerly awaiting the video to be uploaded! and I won the 115 calling card! Can someone tell me how to use it? Edit: Seems the 115 calling card can be used only with a reliance connection which I dont have So if I get it traded for the 110 BSNL card then can it be used with MTNL landline in Mumbai?
-
i know its pathetic cuz Night Unlimited have been excluded from it.

awesome!!

$13 billion bid by vodafone is nonsense as the minimum valuation of HEL is at $14.4 billion
-
Insane!! 8 times the speed but only 2.5 times the download limit!! THIS IS NOT FAIR
-
I love it when someone agrees with me Yup but look at it this way, Airtel, BSNL and all others will then try to leech off Reliance's customers. So Reliance better not displease us or else we will rather shift to the cheaper options and Reliance will have a SHRINKING subscriber base
-
petar no yaar...with a subscriber base of ~50million, Ambani will be untouchable!! It would be BAD for the consumers because he would try to improve the ARPU of Reliance! Airtel will have a HARD TIME catching up with Reliance! So basically Reliance will stop caring for the customer so they will increase costs left, right and center!
-
mee too!!! i too got selected woo hoo!!!
-
Lets see...Anil was trying to woo Maxis. Lets hope they dont come too much in the way nahi toh we will eliminate them
-
wow...this is getting more and more exciting lets see what happens next!! I dont want Hutch to be sold to anyone else other than reliance
-
awesome! I hope Hutchison doesn't sell to any stupid people. We want either Reliance taking over or no one! Airtel will ruin it while anybody else ( read: Orascom ) is a threat to security!
-
Nopes. There are several offers in BSNL ( Broadband and Cellular services ) which are not available in Mumbai! Infact there are a lot of offers with MTNL Delhi which are not available with MTNL Mumbai
-
****! i hope he doesnt spoil Hutch! Its the best amongst the worst! You Airtel people must be happy now
