  1. Well these phones are not CDMA, its DOCOMO standard phones for KDDI.

This is similar standard called DOCOMO developed and adopt by KDDI team.

And its not W series, Most of the KDDI handsets start with W wether its by SE or MOTO or SANYO.

KDDI never ever launched any handset which is launch any where else also.

Big handset makers make special phones for KDDI which uses CDMA like tech called DOCOMO. (inventor of W-CDMA)

all these handsets are atleast 2 year old, they are out dated now.

Let me get some facts clear.

The SonyEricsson W42S is a CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO phone and is offered only by KDDI in Japan on their au service. (au is the brand name of their service just like Reliance Mobile & Tata Indicom in India)

There are 3 main operators in Japan and the technologies they use are as under:

KDDI au : CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO (All EV-DO handsets are fully backward compatible with CDMA2000 1x and CDMAone handets)

NTT DoCoMo : WCDMA(FOMA) which is basically a modified version of WCDMA and most of their handsets are incompatible with the widely used WCDMA(UMTS) standard.

SoftBank Mobile (earlier Vodafone Japan) : WCDMA(UMTS) (It means that the handset supports GSM/EDGE and WCDMA)

So the above mentioned handset can be used in India on Reliance Mobile and Tata Indicom provided it supports the 800 MHz band that we use here.

r u sure these are not cdma 800Mhz phone?

  2. acer- cheaper laptop, with just satisafatory performance, and no Punch in that.

Dell= pay for brand, pay for handware, pay for performance, pay for after sales service, pay for appel (But not much costlier)

Hp or Hp/compaq- find ur requiremnt and try to finalise laptop with ur budget,

Lenovo- Chinese firm try to capture indian market share, no sense in laptop, but might get Very good combination of all, performance+speed+budget+etc(very rare)

    wipro- don't know

    LG- most are failure model

    Smsung -new in business

    Croma- don't know

intex- use and through kind of nature.

  3. I have visited another WebWorld today. They said me to submit ID document to the same webworld where we bought this netconnection HSD. But they are not processing As we already submitted ID's almost 10 days before. Now what to do? anyone faced this kind of problem or I'm the only one?

don't tell them u have purchased from some other WW.

say i brought from DSA or internet.

  4. i hav't went their,

but executive told me she will provide me choice number, with probaly match with my current number,

till now i am in confusion to go for docomo or let's rock plan

    let's rock plan

try to compare total charges with my reqirements

    minute of Usage per month

    200-local

    200-tata

    std 7

    sms- 50

    sms std 5

If you use your phone just for voice calls and texting and would not care much about handset and being on CDMA network,

voice text is main usage and internet is supplimentary use in handset,

their is no bad thing in cdma network at all.

obile users across the country would soon see new mobile numbers, maybe as early as end of August 2009. While earlier reports indicated that all mobile users would be converted to a 11-digit numbering scheme (11 DIGIT MOBILE NUMBERS FROM 2010) latest updates indicate that 10-digit numbers would continue for more years to come.

While the DOT has almost exhausted its supply of available number series -

all levels from 90 / 91 / 95 / 96 / 97 / 98 / 99 have been allotted to various operators (and levels 92 / 93 / 94 reserved for Tata Indicom / Reliance Mobile / BSNL respectively) the new level “8″ would ensure that there are plentty of new numbering options available, with the existing 10-digit numbering framework. In short, the number “8″ would be introduced which would exist along with today’s mobile numbers starting with “9″.

To share an example: the old numbers 9xxxx-xxxxx would exist as well as new numbers 8xxxx-xxxxx. What does it entail? Well for starters those in search of VIP numbers can look forward to lots of new possibilities … Good news for telecom companies too as they can look forward to additional revenues in the form of “Premium Number” charges for VIP numbers!

I don't think so... What about land-line numbers from cities with STD codes starting with '8', for example, STD code of Bangalore is '080'... And a land-line in Bangalore will be as '080-2xxx xxxx' and there are many cities with STD codes starting with '8'... And anyone outside Karnataka should call with '0'+Mobile Number <as it is an STD number>..

Whether DoT is going to change STD code of Bangalore and other towns... VERY UN-LIKELY...

Please clarify, if you have got more details regarding this...

tell me atleast one code sarting with 805 0r 801 or 800 except bangalore?

dot will map std code and only empty series will be allocated to mobile subscbiber.

    8000 - Reliance(GSM) - Gujarat

    8001 - Vodafone - West Bengal

    8002 - Airtel - Bihar

    8003 - Airtel - Rajasthan

    8004 - BSNL(GSM) - Uttar Pradesh (East)

  7. I think the inagural offer of Docomo is much better

    how?

in my way if 1second billing is providing appox 15% less than normal charge.

    savings

    if calculation goes this way,

    then

    example 1

for say 300minute of local and 50 minutes of std 75local sms and 25national sms will be

let's rock (considering 15%usage in off peak hours)

    for local 255*0.5+ 45*0.25= Rs138.

    std 50*1=50

    sms 85*0.2= 17

    +rent Rs30/month

    toal= 235.75

Docomo (considering 15% discount on calls and std 1p/1s and with free sms offer)

    local 300*0.6= 153

    std 50*0.6=25.5

sms 75*.6+25*1.2=75 no saving coz daily usage of sms is less than 3.

    total= 253.5

    Thus indicom wins

Docomo (considering 15% discount on calls and std 2p/1s and with free sms offer)

    local 300*0.6= 153

    std 50*1.2=51

sms 75*.6+25*1.2=75 no saving coz daily usage of sms is less than 3.

    total= 279

    Example 2(std user)

for say 100minute of local and 250 minutes of std 15local sms and 55national sms will be

    let's rock

    local 85*.5+15*.25=46.25

    std 250*1 =250

    sms 60*.2=11.9

    rent 30 total=338.15

Docomo (considering 15% discount on calls and std 1p/1s and no free sms offer)

    local 100*0.6= 51

    std 250*0.6=127

sms 15*.6+55*1.2=75 no saving coz daily usage of sms is less than 3.

    total= 253.5

    here docomo wins

Docomo (considering 15% discount on calls and std 2p/1s and no free sms offer)

    local 100*0.6= 51

    std 250*1.2=255

sms 15*.6+55*1.2=75 no saving coz daily usage of sms is less than 3.

    total= 381.

    again indicom wins

Verdict= if ur heavy std user(not more than 27000second per month=15minute of day) and docomo continues 1p/1s billing then DOCOMO is best.

other wise LEt's rock is cheapest plan in india(both in term of prepaid and postpaid) for both high and low usage.

  8. Dear Mr. Saket,

Glad to know that Tata DoCoMo services are available at your place! I think it's hard to get a good number in pre-paid. It's better to take a post-paid connection OR even better wait till the MNP is launched and convert your current number or the number you love to Tata DoCoMo. You could take a pre-paid card in the mean time to experience and test the network at your place.

    i hav't went their,

but executive told me she will provide me choice number, with probaly match with my current number,

3G spectrum: Ministers to meet on Aug 27

    Our Bureau

New Delhi, Aug. 13 The Empowered Group of Ministers set up to finalise third generation (3G) mobile spectrum policy will meet next on August 27.

This will be the second meeting of the new eGoM formed after the UPA Government was re-elected to power. The first meeting took place on July 31 when the Ministry of Communications told the eGoM that the base price for WiMax spectrum may be pegged at 25 per cent of the reserve price fixed for 3G spectrum.

Since there were many new members in the reconstituted eGoM, theDoT briefed them about various technologies and issues related to 3G auction.

For 3G auction, the DoT offered three options to the eGoM — the first entails auctioning four blocks, each 5 Mhz, according to the decision of the Telecom Commission; the second involves auctioning all available spectrum in line with the opinion of the Solicitor-General of India; and the third is to auction all available spectrum but to just four players, which means an operator can bid for more than one 5MHz slot.

  10. I am in Rs.440 Unlimited Plan. Under this plan I am getting R2R unlimited free all over India this includes RCDMA and RGSM.

Recently I thought of this idea to kill the roaming charges. I am in Maharashtra circle and was about to visit Gujarat. So I got one RGSM SIM card in Gujarat. I wanted to activate call forwarding from my Maharashtra number of RCDMA to Gujarat's RGSM number. Just to find out if this incurs any call forwarding charges I called up Customer Care. To make sure, I made two different calls to CC from two different numbers. In both the calls CC informed me that Call Forwarding will work only within the circle. This was a dampener. So without activating call forward I came to Gujarat.

Now after coming to Gujarat I just tried to activate the Call Forward and to my surprise it is working ! But now I am confronted with doubts. Since I am already in Gujarat, I am already in roaming. When somebody calls me from my home circle, doing a Call Forwarding, will it attract Re.1 of incoming and Re.1 of outgoing to local number ? If this happens, I would end-up paying Rs.2/minute. Or will it be a simple case of call forwarding to just another Reliance number and it would be free for me since R2R is free for me ?

Can anybody throw some light on this ?

    Mobile Fan,

I am also a user of 440 UL, a month back i went to nagpur and dere i bought a r gsm number (coz i have to stay dere for more than 2 weeks.)

I just call forwarded my reliance (440 plan) number to new r gsm. My Reliance number was dere in home circle.

By this way any calls made to my reliance CDMA number diverted to my r gsm and as we know in 440 plan r gsm is free so i get all incoming calls FREE...

Dont worry you will not be charged but only if your reliance cdma number should be in home town.

    i agree with InDyAn

but u activated all forwarding from gujrat circle(also make sure u cancel it before leaving gujrat)

    then case is different

if in roaming r2r calls are free, then Rs1/min

    if chargable then Rs2/min

bcoz in both cases ur incoming calls is treated as roaming incoming call, which is 100% chargable.

if ur number was in home circle, like "InDyAn" then ur incoming call was in category of home circle.

    did u got my point

@kumarshah, vodafome system is different than rgsm try same thing with rgsm.

the result u will get in rcdma and rgsm is equal

  11. dear saket you are blaming p.k.dagga like this is his duty to inform ......lol

This is Reliance duty not P K Daga's Duty.

Dear has Reliance intimated you this in any manner?

    No!

Ask CDR and refuse to pay bill.

Secondly as per TRAI for Postpaid they cant hange tariff without 6 month intimation.

we all are friends here, and continiosly discussing about any change in rcom or in indian telecom ,

i am not done that purposefully, but if daga had given info then we can save on those calls.

    @saurabhv

this is good idea, i will prefer to ask for cdr.

  12. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Read the last paragraph in the article mentioned by saket_kewate. It is reproduced as in the article below

"All calls, within network, outside network, roaming, domestic and international calls will be charged as per the one paisa per second pulse never-before tariff option,"he said.

Roaming tariff of 1paise per second??????????????

roaming tariff is per minute, website is upadeted with mpcg.

  13. The CDMA opportunity in India

    source

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Comparing the CDMA and GSM technology, Vsevolod Rozanov, President and CEO, Sistema Shyam Teleservices says, "Now that GSM and CDMA have leveled up on the open handsets parameters, the consumer driven market will shift its focus on comparing its service quality and other features. CDMA is a far superior and faster technology as compared to GSM, which consumers have already started experiencing".

According to Perry LaForge of CDG, "The CDMA opportunity in India looks even more promising with the entry of new brands, expansion of existing players and addition of new operators like Sistema Shyam Teleservices, Virgin Mobile and BSNL."

He added further, "India is an ideal market both for upgrades for the existing CDMA subscribers base as well as for new subscribers acquisition. The CDMA-OMH will give consumers both choice and flexibility."

One of the major reason for GSM dominating the India market has been that so far, on CDMA, every time the subscribers wanted to change or upgrade their handset, they had to change their number. And in the Indian market, where mobile number has almost become second identity, there was a lot of resistance to this.

Commenting on this move of CDG, SC Khanna, Secretary General, Auspi, says, "The OMH initiative is a welcome move. Since Indian CDMA market is one the biggest market in the world, this initiative will move faster and also increase the competition in CDMA handsets market."

According to Rozanov of Sistema Shyam Teleservices, "We are confident that CDG's move to launch its open market handsets initiative will receive a very positive response from the consumers. The timing has been perfect as the number of subscribers are growing on a daily basis."

Although the market today is dominated by GSM, the tele-density in the country still remains at just 33%. Two-third of the market still remains untapped. So, there is lot of opportunity still existing for the CDMA operators to grab these untapped area and strengthen its footprint. But GSM players are enjoying market share and more aggressive in India.
