  1. call tarrif will surely fall by the end of this year to 25- 30 paise per minute faor local call, in this case per second billing will be costly,

same thing was there when tata 1st launched its cdma service( billing on per second) but tata had to withdraw per second billing within 8 months of launch as it was costlier due to fall in tarrif..

so even we can see per second billing coming to an end very soon, as soon as the call tarrif will fall

But still i will prefer second billing, over minutes, coz my calls are not generally of long duration.

or for long duration calls, i will purchase another sim(possibly prepaid), and use dual sim handset.

Prepaid card help me to save to only those calls whch are long duration

  2. Check for new plans of Tata Docomo Post Paid

Where did u get this from? May be these are the plans they formed before launching current plans..

BTW the presentation shows how detail they have studied the tariff. Good work..

    I don't think so.

Those plans will be for POSTPAID customer, possibly for corporate connections.

As this is having CUG facility and no rent for VAS.

    STILL plans are good,

  3. Business Standard

    Kolkata July 13, 2009, 0:36 IST

Among other plans, Shyam Sistema will soon be launching its first innovative value propositions for CRBT and downloads. These will be supported by the introduction of the ‘BREW’ platform, that is expected to enable a rich customer experience for these services.

“We have plans to foray into the data services market. We will make inroads with our data cards and other data related products like wireline and wireless broadband. We are planning to also launch the USB data modems and high speed data services this year. These are currently under trial,” said Rozanov.

when u will launch CRBT, download?

where are test going for data cards??

  4. Congrats Mr bhargav, i think u got u wish completed now it's MY turn.

    Dear Mr. Saket,

Thank you!! Yes, my long time wish came true and I'm in love with the service  . I disposed my old number as I could not wait till MNP launch and using Tata DoCoMo as my main phone.

As per TTSL, Tata DoCoMo launch sequence is: South, East, West and North. Wishing that you'll get your connection soon.

    Best Regards

also register urself on myaccount section on docomo website.

  5. Broadband+ : What Does Credit Limit Mean?

The answer is very very simple, FRAUD! Yes I repeat credit limit means FRAUD! They will first give you a good credit limit and will show the false broadband usage as shown to you which was 9.6 GB but actually it is recorded more than the 10 gb limit say around 12 gb or more. Then suddenly your IC gets disconnected, and when you ask them why it is disconnecte they wll inform you that you used 2.5 GB more and pay Rs.5000/- extra (yes with service tax its Rs.5500/-)

You are left no choice but either pay it or disconnect it, they have already made money by selling DATACARD at four times more cost than its actual cost.

ANY DATA LIMITED INTERNET CONNECTION WITH POSTPAID PLAN IS NOTHING BUT A FRAUD.

Better change it to smaller PREPAID plans and control the cost. PREPAID PLANS are bit costly but at least no chance of CHEATING. Connection stops when limit is over, thats safer than getting unexpected huge bills.

I like many of reliance services and its speed and service, but I hate it for billing hassles.

IN MY OPINION, THESE DAYS NO COMPANY CAN SURVIVE IN MARKET WITHOUT CHEATING, COZ PEOPLE AT HIGHER POSTS DO NOTHING IN THIER CABIN BUT DRAW SALARY IN SEVERAL LAKHS IN MONTH. THEY DO VERY LITTLE WORK FOR THE SALARY THEY ARE PAID. JUST CHECK YOUR BOSS FIRST.

I AM STILL WAITING FOR TRUE UNLIMITED PLAN WHICH COULD BE SLOWER SAY 750kbps. Right now 3.6mbps limited postpaid plan bill is like unexpected heart attack which can attack anytime

I think the usage whch u saw 9.6gb may be of previous day or day b4 that.

When they came to know tht u made 2gb extra, so they disconnect connection after two day. use postpaid with proper planning to save urself from huge bill.

If u want unlimited then go for BSNL EVDO Rs650/mnth with roaming facility to all over india.

  6. i have recently i.e. before 15 days transferred by no. from ruim card to non-ruim based handset using HCC without any problems.. I have still kept the ruim card.. on dialing *228.. voila... it says... pls. enter the 9 digit pin no. as mentioned in the reliance mobile user guide...

well i suppose... thats proves... use can reuse the ruim card...

Where can we get this 9 digit pin no mentioned in Reliance mobile user guide ???? is this is same as HCC Pin ??

yes same pin from HCC, or pin from GSK, both will work.

  7. ^^ thanks man... I shall go and book one now itself... its a real deal if its in USB, because for 650 (+service tax), one gets unlimited downloads, and also in roaming...

    Real nice...

When I enquired in Hyderabad they said both are PCMCI TYPE and further informed that roaming is not yet activated.

u do't worry about roaming, it will soon activated to all customer, but if u need urgently, apply them.

if they say both PCMCI, then ask for demo and confirm urself.

  8. How does FREE/LOCAL call numbers work:

All leading telecom operators in India offer FREE call(1800 + 6/7 digits) and LOCAL call numbers(1860 + 6/7 digits)

In India the operators who offer these services are

    1. BSNL

    2. MTNL

    3. TATA

    4. RELIANCE

    5. AIRTEL

    6. IDEA

For these numbers to work the telecom providers have to sign accessibility agreements with other telecom providers in India.

Once that is done then the FREE number offered by a particular telecom provider will be accessible from 1.his own network and 2. the telecom providers he has managed to sign agreements with.

    For Example:

    1. BSNL signs agreement with AIRTEL, RELIANCE AND TATA, but does not manage an agreement with IDEA

    2. BSNL offers a FREE/LOCAL call number to a company "AA". Then that particular number can be accessed by subscribers of BSNL, AIRTEL, RELIANCE and TATA, but not IDEA

    How does the numbering work

The format of the FREE/LOCAL calls is as explained

    1800 XX YYYY(FREE CALL 6 DIGITS)

    1800 XXX YYYY(FREE CALL 7 DIGITS)

    1860 XX YYYY(LOCAL CALL 6 DIGITS)

    1860 XXX YYYY(LOCAL CALL 7 DIGITS)

WHERE 'XX or XXX' IS THE CODE OF THE OPERATOR OFFERING THAT PARTICULAR NUMBER

AND 'YYYY' IS THE CODE OF THE COMPANY THATS BEEN ALLOTED THE NUMBER

    For Example:

1800 180 1290 is the FREE call number for SBI credit cards

    where

1800 implies that its free from whichever phone you are able to connect to it

180('XXX') is BSNLs code who has offered the number to SBI credit cards

and 1290('YYYY') is SBI credit cards alloted number

Some additional info-----------though to the best of my knowledge this is an exhaustive list, but im not very sure that the list is a 100% complete

Im listing down a the operator codes of the Telecom providers, which means that those particular 1800/1860 numbers will surely be accessible from their respective networks if not from others

    1. BSNL 180, 33, 44, 425 (Has signed agreement with all operators)

    2. MTNL 22. 11 (Has signed agreements with almost all operators)

    3. TATA 209 (Has signed agreements with BSNL, MTNL)

4.RELIANCE 300 (Has signed agreements with BSNL)

    5. AIRTEL 100, 101 (Has signed agreements with BSNL)

    6. IDEA 270 (Is yet to sign anything concrete)

My knowledge is limited to just these Telecom providers, i dont know of any other Telecom provider who offers FREE/LOCAL call numbers

hope this will help a bit

i am having tata mobile and able to call any 1800 number (180,33,44,425,22,11,209,300,100,101)

  9. Guys, when i clicked on the link mentioned in the 1st post, the price for the cards has been mentioned at a discount. But there is one catch. The discounted price is for PCMCIA cards and not for USB ones..

Someone please clarify this, if what i said is correct or wrong...

Promotional Offer – BSNL has reduced the sale price of PCMCIA type of NIC and EVDO cards to Rs. 1680/- and Rs 2100/- respectively. Offer valid till stock lasts or upto 30-9-09 whichever is earlier

    it what written in link.

EVDO cards means :: EVDO USB modem, bcoz, they do't offer EVDO in PCMCI type.

  10. Ramesh it shud be 0.43minutes or 43 second,

Anyway u don't get cheated if u got chagred 44paise, bcoz it's per second billing,

Think situation like this when u r having minute pulse, and calls end at 60second,??

Yes i am not at all worried even this happens in all calls because its per second billing..

Also in per minute pulse, not all calls ends at 60 seconds, but it happens sometimes and is equivalent to 60 such calls in docomo :)

Dear member do u have any update for VIRGIN GSM??? :GirandoOjos:

if virgin is having gsm ideas then it may happen after docomo launch in all circles.. BTW virgin cdma is yet to start in many towns.. any idea about this ??

virgin is for youth. it's youth brand, so they will not launch the service in non-profitable area, or say less youth centered areas.

As virgin's is giving high ARPU to tata indicom.

  11. Here is the GPRS test Speed:

    514102222.png

Download Speed: 170Kbps and Upload Speed: 100Kbps Ping Time ~650ms

Browsing speed is awesome..this has the best browsing speed compared to:

    Airtel GSM Mobile

    Vodafone

    Tata Indicom CDMA Mobile

    Reliance GSM

But then i guess there are hardly 10(can be much less than that) subscribers in our area! So we have to see how it fares when there are good amt of subscribers :)

may be due to EDGE, which is having maximum speed of 384kbps.

Any idea in what frequency Tata Docomo operates in TN ?

    Dear Mr. Ganesan,

Tata DoCoMo is operating on the GSM 1800 MHz frequency in most of the circles since the GSM 900 MHz frequency has already been used up. I guess it should be 1800 MHz in Tamil Nadu too, but I don't have any authentic source of information to support it.

    Thanks.

If it is 1800 Mhz, then they would require more cell sites to give coverage without any breaks. Lets get feedback from users about the coverage

But tata alredy given their commitment that "Their coverage will more than any operator at day 1 of launch, and it will be incresed so on"

So i don't think they will follow same story as rcom had done with gsm1800mhz,

Even Airtel is working on1800mhz in most circle, still it is NUMBER 1 telcom company in india.

See what i mean to say if company plans and make strategy to develop network then technolgy or 1800mhz or capex doen't come into picture.

Badly rcom strategy or planing doesn't allow them to install more tower, so they ended with poor gsm n/w.

    ^^^

5 days of usage - so far no call drops, no connectivity problem, no network problem. best coverage in my town, especially indoor..

after every outgoing call it shows last call charges as well as seconds saved in that call.. i just added most of the saved seconds and it totaled around 5-6 minutes so far..

Dear ramesh, u saved total 5-6minute, but want to know after how many calls or minute u spoke.

So we can know percentage of saving in second billing.

    thanks

I agree that with 1800 Mhz, Airtel is able to give very very good coverage. But one point you have to bear in mind is that it took Airtel this many years to build its network. Their team would be studying each and every town, village and install cell sites wherever there was a problem. So if Tata Docomo also invests money and if it has the idea to provide 100% coverage, then 1800Mhz is not a problem.

Also the Missed Call Alert is very super and instantaneous in Airtel. Even with so many cell sites in my town, occasionally I receive MCA in my Airtel.

Lets wait and see what is in store for us from Tata Docomo

TATA always want to do investment but in cdma it laks due to spectrum issue.

To be top among top three palyer in india, tata docomo really have to hard, when it comes to network part, also for MNP too, but sadly mnp got dealyed

Got my prepaid SIM a few hours back.

    Here is my review:

    Out-door network coverage: Excellent 5/5

In-door network coverage: Good (swinging between 3/5 to 5/5)

Call connectivity: No interconnect issues and no delay ( you don't feel like you are using new network)

Network stability: Stable, no call drops (my longest call was 42 min.)

Voice clarity: Clear and no noise.

    SMS: No issues

    Voice mail: haven't tried yet.

GPRS: working fine (my hand set does not support i-channel application)

Missed call alerts: haven't tried yet (I find it hard to switch-off the phone)

Low balance alert (USSD based): alerting when balance is less than Rs. 40 (most operators set it at Rs.10 or Rs.15)

Customer care representative connectivity: In less than 5 seconds.

SIM availability in the market: started selling from yesterday, 7 in the evening....... there are plenty of numbers available, but mostly uneasy numbers.

After-call balance display is the only feature I faced with a problem. It is not displaying sometimes (nearly 3 out of 10 times).

    I'll get back soon.............

Congrats Mr bhargav, i think u got u wish completed now it's MY turn,

according to my friend [working in R&D, planning of a telecom network] tata docomo is having the most advanced technology in network. airtel is still with the old instruments and design, only thing is they have more towers..

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NTT Docomo may locate R&D centre in Bangalore

    Source

BANGALORE: Japanese telecom company NTT Docomo, with a 26 per cent stake in Tata Teleservices, may locate its fourth global research and development centre in India. Docomo has R&D centres in Japan, the U.S. and China.

Speaking to reporters at the roll-out of GSM services by Tata Teleservices-Docomo, Tata Teleservices Managing Director Anil Sardana said India was poised to undertake major research and design work for the Japanese company and “this centre could even be in Bangalore”. Tata-Docomo has simultaneously launched GSM services in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Orissa. It has received GSM liceneces for 19 telecom circles. Docomo itself is in the process of introducing 4G services in Japan.

    Value-added services

We will provide a number of personalised value-added services. An example will be alerts about school timings. Customer feedback showed that a mobile phone is not just a device but a way of life for many,” Mr. Sardana said. Tie-up for customised Blackberry handsets was underway.

For its new services, Tata Teleservices has come out with a novel tariff plan of one paise per second, uniform across India. The tagline will be ‘pay only for what you use’. This rate was decided after market surveys showed that 70 per cent subscribers of all service providers were dissatisfied with the tariffs offered.

Thanaks NTT to show interest in indian market, and ready for R n D center,

    When it will start??

according to my friend [working in R&D, planning of a telecom network] tata docomo is having the most advanced technology in network. airtel is still with the old instruments and design, only thing is they have more towers..

I have mailed the company for a post-paid connection and they have replied that they will send a representative to my address. Meanwhile today my friend is buying a pre-paid and we both are going to Courtallam - tourist place in TN. We will check the coverage there and on the way and post you details.

Very eager to test Tata Docomo technology

Thanks bhargav, let us know upadate.

Just noticed an interesting thing in call charges

i made a call and ended.. my phone shows 0.43 seconds, but i was charged 44p... dont know if this is happening in most of the calls.

this shows a 0-1 sec delay or difference between phone counter and tata billing server's counter. when we end a call, phone immediately stop counting, but by the time this end message reaches tata server, it would have counted another second..

Ramesh it shud be 0.43minutes or 43 second,

Anyway u don't get cheated if u got chagred 44paise, bcoz it's per second billing,

  12. ^^^

I am in SRP200 plan and in my latest bill, RCOM has charged me Re0.50 pm for calls made to 1860xxxxxxx numbers.... So Sanket and Ajin are right.

AFAIK, 1800 xxx xxxx (7 digits after 1800) is free from any operator - mobile or LL, though not too sure about roaming. 1800 xx xxxx (6 digits after 1800) can be dialled out from BSNL/MTNL landlines only (no idea about BSNL/MTNL mobiles)

The first 1800 xxx xxxx are fully checked by me from all my RCOM postpaids and from my Voda/Airtel/RGSM prepaids. All are free from home circle, not yet tried from roaming locations. Anyone used it from roaming locations may please post here their experiences.

once again saying 1800, 6-7 digit are free from landline/mobile any operator/any location.

1800 service are meant for TOLL-free only

  13. I am using LG DVD writer for the last three years without any issues.

Yesterday first time i bought a DVD-RW [sony 1x-2x compatible]. I was burning a file @ 2x speed. it took more than 10 mins and alerted "Burning process failed"..

when i browse that DVD it was empty but properties showed no free space. i tried to erase it failed.. then i restarted PC and tried to erase using Nero, it was successful.

But i got the same error when i try to burn again.. other issues with this empty DVD-RW is when i put it in drive, it will take 10-15 mins to read .. sometimes erase fails, sometimes erases., but never success in burning..

i am able to burn dvd's, cd's etc.. only problem with this RW.. is it because of 1x-2x compatibility ??

i too face smae problem, so i used to burn dvd at 1x speed only.

  14. i believe that they were among the late entrants into kerala but still managed to gain 1st place ..can they pull of here ?

NO, idea acquired operation of ESCOTEL mobile in 2004( may be in different year)

Before that escotel was already a number one company i kerala.

So idea just maintains it's number one postion in kerala.

Idea actually brought 2 circle operation from escotel, kerala and UP W
