  1. Yes, torrents do work and port forwarding is allowed. I get a green icon while using utorrent.

My pc is on 24x7 and the download is @2.5-3 GB/day.

The speed varies a lot and i have not experianced speed only till 170 kbyte/sec. however the avg speed is 40-50 kbytes. I am using it on roaming as the card was not available in pune and had to ask my cousin to source it for me from Nagpur(both cities are in same state).

Sliding a CD into the EVDO antenna did improve the signal stability. Daytime speeds may **** sometime.

I was not in favor of EVDO but had no choice. thankfully I ended up with a good and cheap connection.

Have u opt for 2 SDCA? nagpur and pune?

Or else what makes u roam?

    170Kbps is good speed.

    whr to slide CD???

  2. I am confused about Reliance GSM Service. In Kolkata there already have GSM(Smart) service of Reliance. But they give addvertisment int TV they launch GSM service. Are both the same?

    Sanjoy

No dear Smart is under RTL(reliance telecom limited) where as the newly launched gsm is under RCOM

RTL is having gsm service in 7 circles as named SMART

    MP/Chattisgarh

    Assam

    West bengal/ Kolkotta

    Bihar/Jharkhand

    Himachal pradesh

    Orrisa

    NE

Smart GSM is almost 10 years old operation of GSM service by reliance under RTL in the above circles

now all(cdma+GSM+SMART) are under one head called RELIANCE MOBILE.

within fews week smart name will be disappeared.

  3. ^^^

Instead of expanding smart gsm all over india, why did they started cdma and again went to gsm.. any comments ?

rcom was having license to operate fixed line, so they choose cdma, as their was facility to provide mobile handset through WLL .

and as per govt WLL was consided as FIXed line phone and not mobile.

so rcom takes illegel route for mobile telephony in india. and saves some Rsxxx cores requires for license of mobile operator.

this all happedc in year 2000-01.

  4. Offer valid till 30-6-2009

will this works on roaming ?

i wonder bsnl evdo unlimited upto 2Mbps [550] is cheaper than broadband unlimited 256kbps [750] :unexp:

DONT WORRY offer will be extended.

about ROAMING, bsnl is till working on .

about 2mbps and 256 kbps. broadband is getting good subsciber so high tariff won't them go back,

EVDO gets very less subsciber so they need to maintain low tariff+ it's wireless and les stable than BB

  5. U have seen Offer like Rs0.5/min for local

    and even Rs1/min for STD,

    BUT

don't get angry if Telcos withdraws such tariff in future.

Coz now TRAI is looking for scenario where ARPU will get increase.

And if at all VAS failed to do that, then Target to archive high ARPU is through VOICE CALLS only.

And THIS is FIRST sign of call rate will be increase in future.

Why i am saying this is that even NEWEST PLAYER in country(RCOm GSM) is failed to archive subscriber after CEP comes to end.

And just calculate what was their ARPU During CEP(probably minus Rs1XX) and what will be it's ARPU today.

Also from past few years tariff were continously falling, so Industry needs correction

MAY be this correction will happen after launching TATA DoCoMo (GSM service targeted for NICHE subsciber)

or may be after MNP be implemented

Or may be after 3G auction held.

  6. also can u add 39 recharge thereafter to make std 50 paise after 1 min after d jaadu plan...plz reply urgently........

    probably yes,

bcoz whichever is last STV, u will get benifit of that,

so ur tariff will work as per 39 rechage till vailidity of THIS39 stv ends, then u will be chagred according to jadu550.

in short for 30 days tariff will be Local Rs1/min for first minute and then 50 paise for seconf minute onward

and Local Rs1.5/min for first minute and then 50 paise for seconf minute onward

  7. MUMBAI: Subscriber numbers in India’s wireless story are losing their relevance today as far as determining the industry position of a service

provider is concerned. It will be revenues and not subscriber numbers that could decide the pecking order in the world’s fastest-growing telecom market.

This is reflected in the latest revenue figures released by the industry regulator, Trai. Going by this, the top three operators in India are Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL).

Airtel’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR) from wireless and wireline operations was Rs 7,998 crore for the March quarter. Vodafone Essar, which offers only mobile services, had revenues of Rs 4,456 crore during January-March 2009 on a subscriber base of 68.7 million. Reliance Communications (RCOM), which has the second largest customer base, reported an AGR of only Rs 2,998 crore on 72.6 million users during the quarter, making it the fourth largest in terms of revenues.

The revenues for the state-owned BSNL stood at Rs 3,943 crore making it the third largest. BSNL offers mobile services on GSM apart from fixed line services. Besides showing the revenue capabilities of an operator, AGR is significant, as it is the basis on which service providers pay licence fee and spectrum charges. Operators pay a revenue share licence fee to the government ranging from 6% to 10% of their AGR.Increasingly, operators are targeting revenue growth instead of a larger user base.

According to Bharti Airtel’s vision statement, the company’s aim is 20% increase in revenue margin per subscriber in the next few years.

Analysts contend that with more and more low-end users signing up for services, it is becoming difficult for operators to maintain margins and improve ARPUs (average revenue per user per month). In such a scenario, those who continue to grow revenues along with subscriber base will be the clear winners.

“As the new subscriber base is primarily drawn from tier III towns and rural markets, the incremental subscriber addition is not leading to a commensurate revenue upside for telcos. The catchphrase to evaluate a telco’s performance will be quality of subscribers rather than the number of new subscribers,” Acsendia Consulting principal analyst, Alok Shende told ET.

A smaller player like Idea Cellular, which operates in 13 circles, had AGR of Rs 2,389 crore on a subscriber base of 39 million. This is just about Rs 600 crore less than RCOM on a base which is almost half of that company.

KPMG director (telecom) Romal Shetty said, “Initially, everyone was going after subscriber numbers. Now, they are looking at quality of subscribers. This explains the emphasis on value added services (VAS), which bring in higher revenues.” He pointed out that low-end pre-paid users are now bringing in monthly revenues of as low as Rs 70 per month.

Tata Teleservices reported revenues of Rs 1,889 crore during the quarter placing it at sixth followed by state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL). Aircel, a relatively new entrant, is at the eight position, which had AGR of Rs 721 crore during the quarter.

both caller and receiver number can be of any network.

this is not an offer but just to give awarness about their gsm network clarity to everyone..

plz try 2maro. so we will get confirmation that we can make 1 call per DAY or not
