  1. @saket

as per 2 news reports posted here earlier sistema CEO said TN launch will be in may/march..do you have any solid source..pl let us know

    @ajin

they will only be using passive equipment(tower etc)

    read

    http://www.blonnet.com/2009/01/31/stories/...13151911500.htm

Sistema has already launched services in Rajasthan and is planning to begin in Tamil Nadu and Kerala by March. The company hopes to roll out services in at least 10 circles by this year-end by launching services in one or two circles each month. Sistema has got agreements with infrastructure companies to share towers. About 70-80 per cent of the towers on Sistema’s network are shared as of now but the company wants to see a higher share of owned infrastructure.

or call the number given above

    @ajin

no they are placing completly new tower, and sharing may be with airtel

  2. service name chaged to EXpress Wireless Broardband

good news :) tata photon launched in mumbai

bad news :Sorprendido: they too have FUP but 15GB on unmited plan of Rs1250

It is touch completetion for reliance provinding 3.1Mbps speed

will lanch is 10major cities by month end

and cover 40 cities by MAY09

tata indicom site update with new tariff plan based on time and DATA

  3. if u open http://auspi.in/search-subscriber.asp

this page and search RCL subsciber then u will find that

in jan the addition is only (Sub in jan=55550421-sub in DEC52065510), 3.4 million, so they are quaoting wrong result of 5mn. and if u analyse thr cdma growth is 2-3mn per month so GSM adiition in jan would be 1-2mn only.

+subcriber from RTL which is not more than 50-60thousand

so total adioon would be appox 4mn and gsm would be 2mn(including appox60thosand from RTL)

and same is case in feb too

    just 2.9mn inluding cdma+gsm subcriber

    http://auspi.in/news/subs-feb09-dot-report.pdf

these are official figure anounced by rcom to

  4. what is basic difference betwn them?

and what about after sales service?

and not looking great it's like old fashioned

Dear friend the main difference between them are 860 has a camera and its more slim than 830 and 860 has pop3 email configuring and few internet browsing facility...warranty is upto 3 months and after that we can do a paid service....

And about fashion its flip model so a flip model cdma at this price makes it attractive as you might be aware flip has its style and convenient ..

This is only for low end user who wants a flip phone at a throw away price...

but where is service center :( and what about spare part avilibility?

i think the freedom to use any operator RUIM is the good point here

yes this is good, as shyam telecom is coming also MVNO policy is allowed :winko:

apart from that cell is not convent due to extenal antena, today no one is comfotable with extenal antena. :Decepcionado:

  5. The FUP clause is very disappointing. I'm considering Tata Photon.

    Pros

    1) No FUP

    2) New Unlimited Plan is now 1250/=

    Cons

    1) Rev 0 (the website info is wrong: router and modem are both 2.4Mbps.

FUP is a deal breaker: Reliance please reconsider fast.

1250 is it for banglore only?

and yes both device is 2.4mbps is correct.

I had asked to web world regarding launch he said next week, and he can show me demo card also.

  6. All these figures are dubious... There should be a way to assess the ACTUAL present users of any operator.... not the ones who activate the phone for 1-2 months and just dump the sim.... is there any site/way of knowing that?

After certain time period the no is Deactivated and given to other customer

So the figures are very much correct, just a few customers who has recently left the service gets reported

My last airtel no i left a year back, n now it is alloted to some1 else...

deactivation period is time period is 3months,

but incase of lifetime customer it is 6month+3month

    ^^^^

But even that person who has been allotted a previous no. is seen as a new connection and added to the new connections figures... they dont deduct the no. that so and so many have left our network...

no they deduct the number from total subsciber, if u analyse subsciber on coai, u will find downgrowrth also

  7. well yesterday on tech guru i saw them reviewing this evdo data card ...

it was been tested in mumbai ...

he was getting on an average 600 kilobits/s

and his avg download speed for 70kbps

it is practical spped for EVDO rev A.

even verizon n/w in US give same 600kbps(75KB/S)

thats pathetic, we get that much download speed on 512 Kbps connection....

512kbps means (6+4KB/s) hwich is lower then evdo

But practically wirelss speed faltuate and wireline gives stable 512kbps

Today i tried to book it online from Reliance site http://www.rcom.co.in/Communications/rcom/...buynow_bb+.html after selecting online it took me to this site http://offers.connectindia.in/reliance/broadband.jsp

When i fill the form and paid the amount 3500/- from my icici account it failed :NOTriste:

They deducted 3500/- from bank account.

Please find attached image as my screenshot.

i already sent a mail to support@vriti.com let see when i get my money back :(

Don't worry it will be retun to ur account in 34-working days.

as trancation was made thru Trusted site. VERISIGN symbol is present below it.

defenitly...Wireline Broadband tariffs will fall ...

Yes see BSNL and came down UL900 plan to UL750

I read (From Business Line) that only software updations were done on existing towers to launch EVDO. No additional hardware needs to be fitted. If that is the case I think we can expect it to be launched in more cities/towns shortly

I have seen BSNL BTS, where they were installing EVO hawrdware, so relinace must had installed h/w+upgrade s/w to work evdo

and forfet about rural EVDO covarage for atlest 1year

  8. The wise decision

NOT FOR THOSE WHO ARE USING ABOVE 10GB/month

buy device use 2month unlimited plan and then shift to plan 6.

because let u decide in one month period

1)how many times u go out of ur city?

2)if more than 4times then whether that city is EVDO enabed?

3)if yes, is are is evdo enabed?

4)if yes then what is maximum time u spend in that area?

    5)what is surfing time?

6)and DO U REALLY NEED HIGH SPEED DURING THAT SURFING? can't adjust with 144kbps?

so go for 1099city plan, and chage the plan to plan 5 (5GB) for those month when u need roaming.

  9. @savramesh,

Any news about RGSM numbers for Feb.'09? In Jan.'09, they got 5 mn customers, AFAIK.

wait for end of 3month period from rcom, then real game start whether rcom is adding 5mn per month or will be the operator which add just 1mn/month in GSM space. atleast idea can add 1.5mn per month.

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd added 1.5 million users in February taking its total to 44 million. Idea Cellular gained 1.5 subscribers as well, and now has 41 million users.

There are five other companies that offer GSM services, including Reliance Communications Ltd, which has majority of its subscribers on the rival CDMA network, and announces its subscriber additions separately.

India's mobile market is booming, thanks to call rates as low as one US cent a minute, the availability of cheap handsets and expansion of networks to smaller towns and rural areas.
