I bought a Sony dvd writer a few days back. My question is, while pirated dvd movies written on double layer dvds are available all over for rs.150 (approx), why do blank DL DVDs cost between 650-700? Does anyone know where to get them cheaply?

I'm currently using the airtel business plan with a rental of 2495 , speed=512kbps and a download limit of 2gb. A few days back i went to the site and saw that my download limit has been upgraded to 2.5gb. Two days back, again I went to the site and saw that all tariff plans were removed (even home plans) and a message was there, which read - NEW TARRIF PLANS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON! Lets hope they have something good in store for all of us!!!

ok... Ya it was at the mobile expo... I went to the nokia stall with little hopes about the 6255. It was nowhere on display. I spoke to a Nokia guy he wasn't sure about the phone. I described it a little to him. He took me somewhere where the phone was locked in a cupboard inside a box with some other phones. He tried to put it on.. didn't come on... Thn.. he charged it 4 a few minutes and gave it to me. The first thing i noticed was the "tata indicom" banner on the main screen.. Thn i dialled *228, *22801,*22802.. all connected to tata... The size of the phone was smaller than the 6260 or whichever the new gsm phone is. Screen clarity was good... I put on the camera.. wasn't bad.. As you all know the outside screen was also a colour screen though nothing great.. About the launch, he had no clue.. After pestering him a little .. he said maybe by the end of march(though he wasnt sure himself).. I took a pic of the phone with a frnds 3660.. will post it as soon as he sends it to me(as soon as he gets his bluetooth dongle bk).. the pics nthn great.. However.. after seeing the amazing EVDO phones in other stalls like samsung with 5MP and 3MP cameras.. the 6255 felt like just any other nokia.. Unfortunetly the battery of the 6255 went dead.. so couldnt experiment anymore..

3g=3rd generation. We have 3g in both gsm and cdma. As far as i know there i no seperate technology known as 3g.
-
treo 650 and rim blackberry both have cdma versions too. unfortunately we dont have it here with reliance.

Nokia claims that it's handsets like the 6225 have a wap 2.0 browser (or minibrowser) in the phone to view wap sites. I just purchased a 6225. I knew that i didn.t have RWORLD on it, but what about the Browser???
-
I bought a 6225 today to replace it with my moms n191. However to my suprse there was no wap browser. I was well aware of the fact that there wouldn't be rworld on the phone, but since the website says (and so does th manual) that it has a minibowser, where is it?

i went for supercomm 2005 today. They had some good stuff on display. There were many cdma phones around and ericsson was demonstrating videochatting through wcdma (thats gsm). The Rim stall was nothing exeptional but they were spreading info about the evdo services. They also had the pcmcia evdo card. I used the lg vx8000 at the lg stall... it was amazing.. had a 1.3MP camera.

new price of n6585 is rs.6882 or smthn.. its worth the money considering it looks exactly like the gsm 6610. Why pay extra for the 6225 which is bigger and fatter with only one extra feature- a camera.
-
well.. apart from the 6255, they dont have any other phone set to be launched in india. Also, these phones have just been launched with reliance. so, i dont think its a case of stock clearance. Arun, it said model no. , old price , new price.

is this the case where u had to buy 2 signal boosters and then get an ipod shipped?
-
i saw tht a few days back. I think its for indonesia. If we really want to have a look at all the features of the phone you can download the phone manual in PDF format from the url: http://www.nokiausa.com/support/phones/gui...8,6255i,00.html or, http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,69972,00.html both manuals are slightly different and the usa manual also contains the spanish version. so the asian version is half the size. english content is more or less the same in both.

Monday, 24 January , 2005, 15:53 New Delhi: Reliance Infocomm Ltd (RIL) is awaiting frequency allocation by the Department of Telecom (DoT) and Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing to roll out third generation (3G) mobile services that will enable data transfer speed of up to 2.4 megabytes per second. 3G services, by deploying CDMA 2000 1X EvDO technology, are expected to enable higher-end data services. ''EvDO has already been implemented in our campus at Mumbai. We are technically ready for launch, but are waiting for frequency allocation from DoT and WPC,'' Reliance Infocomm Group Head (Wireless Network) Arun Sur told reporters here. Sur added that Reliance Infocomm would also roll out broadband services soon. DoT issues the service licence and WPC wing is the authority for issuing the wireless licence. ''We are experimenting with Wi-fi, Wimax as well as 3G technology. But our focus will be on 3G roll out,'' he added. Sur pointed out that Wi-fi provides coverage over only 200 to 300 metres while Wimax covers a maximum of 3 to 5 km. ''EvDo will be city-wide and that's where Reliance Infocomm is focusing on,'' he added. In launching EvDO, a CDMA operator has to upgrade its network to offer more capacity and better data speeds to its subscribers, besides high voice clarity, e-commerce and m-commerce. Reliance Infocomm also plans to double its subscriber base to 20 million by the end of next fiscal on the back of aggressive network rollout and marketing initiatives. ''We should be able to double the current base of 10.3 million wireless subscribers by March 2006,'' Reliance Infocomm COO (Wireless Business) Kamal Nanavaty said. As per figures released by the Association of Unified Service Providers of India (AUSPI), its subscriber base stood at 10,298,208 as on December 31, 2004. The company today also announced that it will expand its network to 5,700 towns and four lakh villages by this year-end, covering the entire habitat of the country in one of the largest ever roll out operation. ''This expansion involving 8,500 base towers will also cover 91 per cent of the country's national highway and 85 per cent of the rail routes,'' Nanavaty said.
