seems like reliance in stuck on providing entry and mid level phones. When will reliance begin to offer hi end handsets? Even when the kyocera pda came, it was outdated abroad.

cdma does have an advantage when it comes to data services(in terms of speed/stability and nationwide coverage). But then if you look at high end services like evdo and Wcdma, you expect frequent travellers to use it because the only thing that will sell it is mobility because of the costs incurred by the consumer. Here, the gsm players might be at an advantage as we have seen in the case of gprs, it is easily available on intl roaming and wcdma might follow. However, this hasnt been the case with any cdma operator(not that i know of atleast)......

there is a big difference between the "broadnet" and the "netway" services. netway is the iptv division while broadnet is their internet service using ethernet and dsl. Regarding unlimited downloads, if you are in delhi, airtel dsl offers an excellent dsl service where both 128 and 256 kbps unlimited cost under 1k.

Evdo Technology Which Gives Upto 2.4mbps Connection
vb86 replied to city02's topic in Reliance Communications
yup.. infact i think its past that stage also.. just needs the go ahead from the government. -
Surprising ...if you have indeed bought the set, why do you hesitate to pay a paltry Rs. 100 per month .... the GSM operators are just about thowing away the EDGE services for free .... because there are hardly any takers ==> No one seems to buy up a costly edge-enabled set. Don't you want free Aajtak etc. (or other videos, if they have any) ... (though, reliance offers the same thing at Rs. 25 per month) 45640[/snapback] for the simple reason that though the rental is rs49, it costs 10paise per 10kb.. if i could get the discountinued rate of rs99 unlimited, i would have taken it.

mine is an edge phone .. but i havent activated the service. eventually its gna be a comparison btween evdo and wcdma.. right now its edge vs cdma 1x 2000 as tht is the best currently avaialabe here..

Evdo Technology Which Gives Upto 2.4mbps Connection
vb86 replied to city02's topic in Reliance Communications
dont know about that but yes evdo needs only minor upgradation with some modifications in the towers. -
Ok, since my rd2030 is ruined and repair costs are almost 4k, ive decided to go in for a new gsm connection. After streching my budget ive managed to shortlist the 6681 by nokia. Is there anything any1 would like to inform me about before buying this phone? http://www.nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,71176,00.html The sony ericsson k750i also falls in the same category. But ive decided against it.
-
yehh.. i already know about the scratching issue since my friend already warned me about it. Now that some1 already has an almost same phone on the forum, why not tell me where you get your themes, apps and wallpapers....etc..... from.. Also i want some really high quality pics that would make my 262k colour screen stand out when compared with the rgular nokias available.
-
nice to see some1 else also using it.. im pretty satisfied with it.
-
seems like a very old model. 33mhz processor

on the comparison between 6680 & 6681, 6680 has 2 additional features ie. 3g support and a vga camera in the front for video vonferencing. Since mine doesnt support 3g, there was no point in adding a vga camera on the front side. Both have a 1.3 camera at the back. Mine cost 17.2 with bill and the other was much expensive. Dont no the exact price. Extra features: stereo sound digital music player, 262k colour active tft screen, dual voltage rs mmc card, edge, has office softwares which syncs with ms office including excel and powerpoint(its a smartphone), displays the calender schedule on the standby screen for the current day in proper order, has icons on the standby screen, much better loudspeaker, stereo phones provided, has a better browser and mail client, symbian os 8, usb cable provided in the packaging, browser supports pdf, push to talk(absent in 6600), hot swappable memory card slot (can be removed without switching the phone off), manages ZIP file too. In the left corner of the phone there is a tiny transparent circle, which is in fact a sensor measuring the intensity of the rays that fall on the phone. It sends signals to the mobile, which then regulates the intensity of the backlighting of both display and keypad. It also has a camera lens protection cover. ADDED: camera has a flash. phew....

on this issue, i would have to agree with trai...

ok, before any of u could reply, i had already purchased the phone. Luckily i knew 2 people who were using the 6681 and k750i. I studied both of them and finally decided to go for the nokia. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I wanted the symbian os instead of the SE menu which doesnt look that customizable in terms of installing apps and softwares.

doesnt exactly look slim to me... even though this may be a nokia,, given a choice, id rather buy something else.. Are they planning to launch it in the sub 1k category?
-
frankly i am not a big fan of the sony P series. Given another chance i would still go 4 the nikon collpix 5900.
-
airtles given me 2 static ips.. i dont have a clue as to what to do with thm..
-
the delhi DSL CC no. is 011-51614555 .. if it might be of any help.

again one will have to wait and see how many features have been blocked by reliance.
