R-World in 6235 is Java based, so disabling browser wont be of much use. People with WAP handsets can off-course do that. I have already programmed my right soft-key to names instead of R-World.
-
Yes they do.
-
I would use Reliance Mobile World mostly for Headlines, and now that it is under U-category, I guess I can reconfigure the second button on my N-6235 for some other utility that waste it for R-World. Till the time WAP starts to work on N6235, its good bye to Reliance Mobile World. PS: Don't we have somebody who can let us know for sure how Reliance authenticates WAP, maybe enabling RUIM 6235 and then using a 6265 RUIM on it would work.

I had used Bonrix long time ago, and used HPSMS Server a few days ago. Believe me HPSMS is much better and its free.

Or look for a place which faces South-East, you can then install the dish on your window/balcony.

Lucky you!!! TATA-Sky will cost you a bomb in comparison. The new rates are Rs 300/- all inclusive.
-
How much do you pay for cable?
-
TATA SKY is available virtually all over India. I assume you will not be shifting to one of the remotest corners of say NE/Ladhakh. Though TATA-Sky might be available there too. As per the TATA-Sky user agreement, you own the Digicomp (basically STB), and the company owns the dish, wires and the Digicard. If you have to move to another city, call TATA-Sky and they will schedule an un-installation at your place. They will take the dish etc with them, and once you have moved to another city, schedule a re-installation appointment, and you are done. Reinstallation charges of Rs 500/- apply. I have been using TATA-Sky for more than a month now, and take my word local cablewallah can not meet the audio-visual quality of TATA-Sky. Go for DTH and that too TATA-Sky.

^^^ Doesn't works. I have tried copying settings of 6155 to 6235. It seems that Reliance enables access to servers at the back end based on ESN/RSN/MIN numbers - which according to them are running on 6265/6155/2865. Till the time Reliance doesn't enables access for us (6255/6235 users) I guess that would be of no use.

The Ruias bought BPL with an understanding that BPL will be merged with Hutch. However, the necessary clearances didn't come in time, and they used it hold on to BPL - basically to extract more from Hutchison Whampoa. And they can still run BPL to maintain status quo, as TATAs managed to stay in Idea in spite of Tata Teleservices becoming a UASL operator. ADAG can buy into Hutch if and only if they manage to buy 100% of the stake with an intent to merge it into Reliance Communications. Its either 10% or 100%. If they manage to buy 100% and statuary clearances do not come they will have to sell stake in one of the companies, which ESSAR will have to do with BPL eventually. As far as operating frequency Hutch operates at GSM 1800 in most of their circles (apart from Kolkata, Gujarat, WB and UP(W)), and they operate on 900/1800 in Mumbai and Delhi. (Source: GSM World)

Contact Reliance/Kyocera SC, and they should be able to help you out with reprogramming the NAM/network settings based on your phone number.

Isps Demand Tax Exemptions For Broadband
Puneet replied to abhay's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
They haven't said that because there is no need to say so. Once the government grants the ISPs exemption from service tax, they will not be able to charge the same in bills. Its not that they can charge customers service tax and not transfer it to the government. Any exemption on a direct tax (service/sales/octroi) is directly passed on the customers. Manufacturers and service providers can only decide to pass or not to pass the benefit to customers if the exemption or rebate is for indirect tax or levies (excise duty/custom duty/license fees). -
^^^ Don't know but the guy has been warned and his posts edited. And if he repeats the links, he will go under moderator preview.

Pressing Clt+Alt+Del, and then killing iexplorer.exe/firefox.exe saves you from the misery too.

Number Portability Implementation in India
Puneet replied to niket's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
DoT rejects number portability move Posted online: Monday, December 04, 2006 at 0350 hours IST NEW DELHI, DEC 3: The department of telecommunications (DoT) has rejected the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) recommendation that mobile number portability be implemented in a phased manner from April 1, 2007. The DoT has said that portability is not a mandatory service and the timing of its implementation should be left to the commercial judgment of operators. Number portability ensures that mobile phone numbers do not change even if users switch operators. Reasoning in an internal note, the DoT has said that the cost of network upgrade for number portability works out to Rs 940 crore and in today’s competitive environment, it may not be appropriate for either the regulator or the licensor to ask operators to share the cost amongst themselves. Rather, such a step should be left to the commercial judgment of operators. The DoT has also said that number portability cannot be implemented across technologies like GSM and CDMA in the absence of dual handsets. Trai had submitted the recommendations suo-motu and they were not covered under the relevant clause of the Trai Act 1997. Therefore, in the event of the recommendations being not accepted, it will not be necessary for the DoT to refer them back to Trai before taking a final decision. Number portability is already on in the US, the UK, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Singapore. In India, however, most telecom operators had opposed the move, stating that fixed number portability should be implemented first. In fact, the Cellular Operators’ Association of India had even got a survey conducted by a market research firm, which concluded that mobile number portability was not a must for cellphone users. But consumer organisations had favoured the move. Source: The Financial Express -
Or you can get the new EC625 USB card, which will work as well with desktop PCs. Though the card is in short supply and you might have to run around a few WWs to get it.

Hp-sms Server - 4.0.0.1 ( Sms Software )
Puneet replied to HetalDP's topic in General Technical Discussion
1. I meant the date time format (M/d/yyyy or d/M/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy) in access database. 2. In case it creates problem for someone, ask them to change their date format to M/d/yyyy under Regional settings --> Customize --> Date --> Short Date. -

@Hetal: khs123's problem is not about disabled buttons, he is not able to see the buttons. Check out attached images in his post above. About 40% of the area is cropped on the right hand side on his comp. -

I changed the resolution of my screen to 800X600, and the result was same as your screen shots. My guess is the problem is somewhere in your display properties, or may be windows is playing games with you. We need VISTA here -

Puneet replied to HetalDP's topic in General Technical Discussion
@khs123: You need to increase the resolution of your monitor to 1024 X 768 atleast. The aplication's GUI doesn't readjusts itself to screen resolution and cuts out remaing part. Am attaching a screenshot of my Imort SMS tab, with the location of "Send to Queue" marked. If you comapre it with your screen, you'll see that about a quarter of the screen is missing on the right side, and the button is hidden there. -

Puneet replied to HetalDP's topic in General Technical Discussion
@khs123: Make sure your error is "String was not recognized as a valid DateTime". In that case there is no need of any uninstall/reinstall. Just set the date format to M/d/yyyy, and then right click on HPSMS-Server icon in the system tray, click on shutdown, and then restart. This should work now. To send SMS, 1) first you have to configure the server to use your phone, so go to connections tab, use detect phone, and then select your phone in the top-left pane. if any other modem is also selected, deselect it. Click on Start Server button. 2) Go to import SMS TAB -> Manual SMS-> add the number and the message, and then click on send to queue. And you are done, message is sent now. Test it by sending a message to your own number. Hope this helps. -

Puneet replied to HetalDP's topic in General Technical Discussion
@khs123 Check the date format in regional settings -> customize -> date for your comp. Change the short date format to M/d/yyyy (basically the American style) and you are done. Restart the HPSMS-Server, and it should work fine. Worked for me. And if you have WinXpSP2, in all probability you already have MDAC2.7 installed. -

Puneet replied to HetalDP's topic in General Technical Discussion
There was no need to uninstall/reinstall anything. I changed the date format to M/d/Y, and it worked. But I normally prefer d/m/y format for my computer, maybe if you could add something in the software which first checks the date format used on comp and then uses it might be helpful. Anyway thanks again for the software. -

What is the format used by database? I can try changing my regional settings to that and try it out.
