  1. RUIM Slot in Nokia 6235

Transferrring ESN -- Horcruxes. Nice analogy. But, the method I described above is perfectly legal. The handset belongs to the customer legally, but it has proprietry software loaded onto it. Reliance cannot disallow the use of the handset on another network, but it can always disallow the use of its software. That is why I said, go to the Nokia CC, get your handset flashed for TATA, and then get the ESN registered in TATA. Simple. I do not think I have even touched the boundary of the banned discussions in the above method. As the customer is neither changing not tampering with his handset, he is getting it done by the authorized personal and Nokia and TATA CC, which would be perfectly legal.
  2. RUIM Slot in Nokia 6235

Technically - Yes. Legally - maybe. If you can manage to get the ESN of your mobile erased from Reliance network, get the phone flashed for removing Reliance software (Read R-world) get it loaded for TATA from nokia, and then manage to get your ESN registered in TATA database. Easy.
  3. Best RIM Tariff For you?

@Chirag, Arun: That's because the best plan for your usage is with Unlimited Talktime Pack, and though I have included the cost calculations, I could not include it in the final advisory for lack of time. Will update it today. @linuxguy:I understand your problem, I too run linux (gentoo) exclusively on my desktop. The current plan advisor is just a stop gap arrangement till ashok comes up with a full-featured web application. Notice the version number 0.1.1.1 indicates its a premature application. Anyway, if you would like I can send you the excel file which should open fine in OpenOffice.org I had made an excel file long back, in the initial days of Reliance, which basically compared DAPO with various plans of other operators at that time. Helped a plenty of my friends to migrate to Reliance. Initially I had planned to put the excel file here, but then thought of experimenting with the web features of excel and came out with the plan advisor v0.1.1.1
  4. Best RIM Tariff For you?

RIMweb.in Plan Advisor v0.1.1.1 Requires IE 5.01 and higher and MS Office 2003 Web components. Shortcomings: Limited only to National Post paid plans, and does not considers Unlimited talktime pack.
  5. Best RIM Tariff For you?

Best way would be to analyse the past bills, and calculate the average usage in minutes. If E-bills are available, code can be developed to extract the relevent data from e-files. If itemized bills are available, data can be used to take advantage of on-net plans. What we need is data extracter from pdf files, in case of non-availability of bills, a user can be asked to input the relevent minutes. In the second case, best plan advisor can easily be made in an excel file.
  6. Lg 6130 Problems

With dictionary ON, you need not press 7 thrice to get 'r', only once is enough. To type in 'are', just press '2', '7' and '3' once. In T9 mode, the phone tries to guess a suitable word from the key sequences you have pressed based on its limited dictionary, and it is bound to make some strange guesses, if the word is incomplete or does not exists in its dictionary.

  14. Change Esn Of Nokia 6255

Assuming your Motorola is on Reliance network, and you have purchased a blank Reliance ready Nokia 6255 from someplace, you can always use a HCC (Handset Change Card) to transfer the number from Motorola to 6255. However, if your Nokia is not a legally purchased Reliance-ready handset, or if you are not on Reliance network, I am sorry to say you won't get a solution on this forum. We strongly discourage any discussions on mobile phone cloning, ESN manipulation etc.

  20. Rimweb Meets!

How I wish I could be @ the Mumbai meet. But I am going to miss it because of my work commitments (yes guys I would be working on October 2 too - that is the price one pays for getting a PhD, I guess). Only way I could be at the meet is if it is held somewhere in the close vicinity of IITB. Maybe next time we will have a meet somehwere near my place, and then I would be there too

  22. Apps U'd Like To See On R-world

Atleast anujit is brave enough to accept what he desires. If implemented, it would be the biggest money spinner for Reliance.
  23. But then I do not trust my WinXP with FAT, NTFS is a lot better.
  24. Infocomm to order 1 mn handsets Rajesh S Kurup in Mumbai | September 17, 2005 12:12 IST Reliance Infocomm is planning to place an order for 1 million mobile phone handsets in the next two months, which would be one of the largest orders by any telecom service provider in India, for which the company has initiated talks with global handset manufacturers like Nokia, LG and Samsung. Reliance Infocomm, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group firm is expected to seal the deal "immediately". The need for a huge consignment is due to an increase in subscribers and expansion of services to newer geographies. Sources said the handsets were in anticipation of Reliance Infocomm's network expansion in smaller cities, in addition to the requirement in existing circles. The company has operations in over 3,750 towns, of which 3,500 small towns and talukas, while it has covered 1.40 lakh villages. Earlier this year, the company had procured 2 million handsets of different makes and this proposed new acquisition will take the total number of mobile phones purchased to 3 million in 2006. This procurement is the largest in India due to the sheer size of the order, however this is not the largest in the world as China Mobile Xingjiang had placed similar orders earlier, while South Korea Telecom was also looking at placing similar orders. The company would procure various handsets, ranging from entry-level ones to the high-end TV and camera phones from different companies. This is to ensure availability of different models with an array of features and to suit wallets of all sizes, sources added. The total outgo for the procurement could not be ascertained as Reliance Infocomm is believed to be spending around Rs 2,000 to Rs 20,000 depending on the make of the handset. Reliance Infocomm is the largest telecom operator in the country with about 13 million subscribers and is adding with 4 - 5 lakh new users every month.
  25. @Vishal: Your method of installing Win98 over the same partition as WinXP will fail if the original partition is NTFS. However, going for just a DOS install is a good idea. @Rajenpert: I have seen many dos applications failing under xp even after enabling the compatibility options, as the DOS shell under XP has very limited access to system. And if some code requires exclusive access to say HDD, it would simply fail.
