My Freedom plan (650 p.m.) for FWP was activated on the 11th of January, 2005. My billing cycle goes on from 28th-28th. So I called up customer care and asked them how was I to be billed, and how the data usage would be billed. I was told I will pay SOME PART of Rs. 650 this month according to number of days, but downloading I can use 1GB before the end of the billing cycle. I asked if I am allowed 1GB form 11th to 28th Jan. I was told to hold on, then the customer care executive came back and told me YES. Now they have billed me, stating that a part of 1GB was allowed from 11th028th, around 550MB. I have been billed Rs. 5 per MB for 340MB !!! So my bill instead of the usual Rs. 1500, is suddenly Rs. 3636. I will be going to webworld and getting it waived off no matter what. However, I'd like to ask if any one has any suggestions how to go about it? Because unfair billing has dogged Reliance since the very beginning. Hoping for the best

Happy Republic Day to one and all. May we progress further, march ahead, but never forget those who helped us get where we stand. Jai Hind

Well put, Arun. Once we get the details, a suitable combo can be worked out.

I got the freedom plan, so didnt feel need to keep pinging to avoid pulse change/dormancy. Then one day I got bugged by the beeping sound and started pinging. Guess what, after like 15 minutes, the connection went DEAD. Thats food for thought... any ideas as to what caused that (apart from my idea that the pinging was to blame).

Well, I have opted for the 650/- p.m. plan. But at ricmail.com, it does not accept my phone number (without zero) as Subscriber ID. Whats wrong?

I get speeds of around 7K usually overall, if i surf and download something or the other simultaneously. Otherwise, if I am downloading from a good site, the speed exceeds 11K, and that is pretty good (admit it, people). As for Download managers, I have tried FlashGet, Download Accelerator (DAP), and am currently using Internet Download accelerator. DAP is an all-rounder, but IDA, and FG are really really good in their own ways. P.S. Check out the download speed using IDA. It rocks.

Sometimes it happens with me too - i use Win XP on my PC, and the only way to solve it is to disconnect and reconnect. Anybody got any better ideas???

I recently got a Reliance FWP (LG LSP 340E). Having read on this forumt he wrong billing of Reliance, I decided to make this small applicaiton to help once calculate the amount (in Rs.) spent surfing the internet. Do contact in case of any problem. Note - The application requires Flash Player (preferably ver. 7) to be installed.

Concerning Upload/Download = Surfing or not, I'd like to tell you that I went to AirTel once and asked about GPRS. They said surfing is included in a fixed cost per month, but for downloads extra charges. I assume certain filetypes like EXE, MP3, etc are screened and considered downloads/uploads. Also, my conn sometimes becomes as good as dead after around 5-10 minutes. Only re-connection helps, and then same problem. I have disabled the firewall, even then this problem persists. Any solution?

hey whats your problem. does the system gets affected by cap lock or what. all users here are not god typist so please dont ever comment on typing methods...ok 22928[/snapback] Excuse me but its manners to type lowercase. Just like to speak in a normal voice in public. Thanks.

Now that Reliance Broadband has a 10 GB limit, we really need a good software, coz they are not telling us how much the charges/MB will be once the initial bandwidth limit is used up.

I've talked to RCC ppl. They say that no mention of Sundays/Aug 15/Jan 26/Oct 2 is there in the new plans, so this means that Sunday is like any other day. Overall, the new RConnect rates **** big time. This is why : 1. Now its 15/hr, instead of 13.2/hr of earlier. 2. No more off-peak days. 3. Since RConnect is charged separately, your free calls/month are now free VOICE calls only. And I thought that with the coming of BSNL's and Airtel's Broadband services, Reliance would lower their rates. The only good thing is that speed is good, but nowadays sometimes it goes down. I use after 10pm only, but once I tried it in the daytime, and it was pathetic.

Thanks a lot. Though I must say the new RConnect rates ****, coz they've removed Sunday off-peak hours.

Here's an updated version of the calculator. This one takes into account the new default plans for RConnect, as applicable from 22nd November, 2004. RConnect_Cost_Calculator_v1.1.zip

Good work. However, it was pinging the wrong server address. It worked, but still... keep it up man.
-
Well, the method I use involves seeing the IP address of the server alloted each time I make a connection. Its the quickest way, and believe me, uses maybe nothing of the availabel bandwidth. Its not an easy or hassle-free way, but the best one for the techies (geeks, may i call u that).

Well, I talked to the CC people today and I got following info - 1. In zero-rental plan, you pay rental as per chosen plan (290, 500, etc.) 2. In 650 plan, rental is included, i.e. we pay 650 (in total) and get 1GB of data, etc. plus the free calls, and so on. 3. In 1500 plan, rental is included, i.e. we pay 1500 (in total) for unlimited net usage plus the free calls, and so on. Somebody please verify if this information is correct. Also, I'd like to know that are sundays 24-hr off-peak? Because CC people told me that they have info on 6am-10pm being peak hours, and 10pm-6am being off-peak, thats it and no mention of Sunday. Somebody please verify this too.

I use Win XP, and the actual data flowing in goes upto 144Kbps (yup, 18KB) if I use software HTTrack (which leeches websites). FlashGet and DAP go upto 8-9 KBps max. Any tweaks to make DAP/FlashGet/etc. DL at higher speeds?

Well my fellow Reliance users, I would like some feedback on hwo to make the application more useful - send me details of other billing plans which are still in use. Email me at alamsingh@yahoo.com

Well, this is cost calculation of Reliance Fixed Wireless Phone as of right now, It would be easier to use some proper software maybe, but I didn't find any freeware, so I made this small application. Tell me if its useful.
