Reliance Mobile Handset
LG RD 2030
-
I upgraded by old LG handset with this NOKIA 3125 handset. So far so good... The price was Rs.4750 exactly a week before. Seems like it was a good choice certainly after going through some of the earlier posts in this forum. Did anyone try doing something with the slot provided for inserting the SIM CARD in this 3125 ? I mean tried to convert this 3125 in to a GSM compatible as well : :'( ?! Imagine the possibility of switching between your RIM number and a BSNL number, b/w two dirt cheap service providers !!! Sounds interesting right ?

This is certainly not the kind of news any RIM subscriber would want to hear.... So sad, atleast those cricket score updates should be kept free !!! Cheers, Silverline. -
Reliance Goes Electronic With Recharge In New Year
silverline posted a topic in Reliance Communications
RIC/MR/2005/01 Reliance goes electronic with recharge in new year * Almost instantaneous paperless transaction * Can be done even while roaming * Flexibility of denominations ranging from Rs55 to Rs1,100 DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai, January 04, 2005 In yet another first in the country's CDMA domain, Reliance Infocomm has launched an e-Recharge facility for its prepaid subscribers offering them with the flexibility to opt for denominations ranging from Rs55 to Rs1,100 With this, Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) subscribers will be able to electronically recharge their prepaid accounts, almost instantaneously, with virtually any amount that suits their budget. They will also be able to top-up their accounts with micro recharges beginning with Rs55 without changing the validity of the original recharge. The facility is already available at all Reliance WebWorld and Web World Express stores in major cities and will gradually be spread to other places and all the major retail outlets of the channel partner chain in about 1,500 cities and towns in the country. Announcing the nationwide rollout of the novel product, S P Shukla, President - Wireless Products and Services, Reliance Infocomm said: "The e-Recharge brings in a great convenience and flexibility to the subscriber as they can choose any denomination that suit their budget and requirement." "For instance, one can recharge his RIM account with Rs55 or multiples of even one rupee. It can be done even while roaming and there is always a recharge outlet near you, no matter where you are," he explained. The Reliance e-Recharge works like this: * The retailer on receiving the recharge request from the subscriber forwards the details - such as the denomination, the RIM number - to a prescribed number from his phone. * The amount is then transferred to the subscriber account after the retailer authenticates it with his secure password. * A confirmatory SMS lands on the subscriber's and retailer's phones in a matter of seconds. The advantage for the retailer is that he saves on working capital and inventory cost on account of keeping a vast range of Reliance RCVs. From the customer's points of view, he now has the choice of going in for a paperless transaction - a growing trend in this information age. Reliance Infocomm Ltd., a Reliance group company, is India's largest mobile service provider with over 9 million customers. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high capacity, integrated (wireless and wire-line) and convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain - infrastructure, services for enterprises and individuals, applications and consulting. The Reliance Group, founded by Shri Dhirubhai H. Ambani (1932-2002), is India's largest business house with total revenues of over Rs 99,000 crore (US$ 22.6 billion), cash profit of Rs 12,500 crore (US$ 2.8 billion), net profit of Rs 6,200 crore (US$ 1.4 billion) and exports of Rs 15,900 crore (US$ 3.6 billion). Hey, Me too got the same reply, like the LG 6130 is not there at all for upgradation !!! Anyway there is "NO SURPRISE" in the reply, as we are already used to the wrong information by these CC peoples. Also went one step ahead and enquired about how mcuh we will get discount for out old handset, if at all there is any upgradation scheme.... The reply was shocking "Rs.750" !!! :'( So, its better don't go for the upgradation, better sell your handset and buy a new one ! Cheers, Silverline !

I guess this will be only good news to pre-paid users.... Not for post-paid ! Also the fact that, the number activation can be only done with the "Reliance network compliant" handsets will be the catch in this. Meaning, may be we will be only able to activate the reliance sold handsets rather than any CDMA handset you might find in the market ! So this may be only good news to people who might want to swap numbers. Any different opinion about this ? Cheers, Silverline !
