vvinayakpai replied to nayasaroj's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I dont think you will find Virgin mobile listed in the manual network search. This is because it is only operating as a franchisee of TTSL Correct me if i am wrong -
How is the haier brand, especially in the CDMA space? Worth a try? Any feedbacks????

Tata Indicom V Reliance Cdma V Mts Coverage
vvinayakpai replied to androboyz's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I have been using RCDMA for the past 3.5 years. I have no problems at all other than the odd service related issues which i am sure is common among all operators. I have roamed in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh with my RCOM CDMA connection and am really happy about my decision. Please note that I have not used Tata Indicom nor MTS -
Reliance Gsm Networks Features And Gprs Settings
vvinayakpai replied to HetalDP's topic in Miscellaneous
I have purchased a Nokia 2700 classic recently. I am trying to activate GPRS settings for my RCOM gsm mobile on this phone but in vain. I tried by sending ALL to 55100 and also through Rworld menu on the phone but in vain. I happened to see this post which had the manual settings, but unfortunately i dont know how to do this stuff. The problem is that i dont know where to enter this manual stuff. Do i have to create a new connection for this? I am totally confused!!!!!!! Please help!!!!!!!! Also mine is a prepaid connection. Will the s manual settings work, because it is specifically mentioned that it is for postpaid only?????????? I called up RCOM cc and they asked me for my IMEI number. They had the audacity to tell me that the IMEI number is not valid hence i am unable to access the internet. So i asked them why they are allowing me to make calls and they were speechless!!!!!! -
does it have hi-speed internet acess like the corby speed model? @aalok- what about the battery specifications?
-
Sorry to hear your experience with the Speed Nagaraj. High time Samsung did something to rectify this problem because their image is going to take a beating espcially considering the fact that the corby speed is selling like hot cakes (according to local dealers)

This offer is amazing!!!!!!!! But i really wish they could do something about the roaming rates at leats in MTS operated circles!!!

vvinayakpai replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I am very surprised!! 1.2 million subscribers in less than one month is really good for a new company especially considering ther tariffs!!!!!!!!! -

Tata Docomo Gprs On Demand
vvinayakpai replied to rajendra.jindal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^^^^^^^^^ That was the information given to me by the rep. I was planning to take a new Docomo connection especially after seeing the GPRS tariffs. I have decided to pay them a visit at their dive-in store before signing up and get more clarity on their tariffs.... -
Tata Docomo Introduces "buddynet", Local On-Net @ 1 Paise/6 Seconds, Std @ 1 Paise/2 Seconds
vvinayakpai replied to nayasaroj's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Its hight time Tata Docomo took a clue from RCOM Simple. This buddy net tariff is really a little too complicated. The first minute of the first Tata to Tata call of the day would be charged at 1ps per second and subsequently from the second minute calls made to the local tata network would be charged 1ps/6secs. Also, STD calls made to non tata numbers would be charged at 2ps/sec. Really confusing, expensive and illogical tariff!!!!!!!!! -
Tata Docomo Gprs On Demand
vvinayakpai replied to rajendra.jindal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Spoke to Docomo customer care regarding this offer. Was a little dissapointed to know that this offer is avaiulable only for new customers and not for existing customers. Docomo has started this new stuff of giving out special offers only for new customers and not for existing customers. No wonder they arebeating other telcos in subscriber additions month over month. Take a look at that buddy net offer also, new subscribers have it ffree for 2 months whereas existing subscribers have it free for only a month. Also the representative gave me the old offer at first for the 95rs scheme wherin i would get 200 MB free. Only when i asked him he told me about this offer. And that too point blank he told me, "For more details visit your nearest DIvein store, I dont have more information" -
Only 3 Telcos See Rise In Sept Revenue
vvinayakpai replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^^^^ I am sorry I afail to agree with you. The above data is for the quarter ended September, 2009. To the best of my knowledge RCOM introduced their first simple plan (the 50ps scheme) on 8th october, 2009 which shlould only reflect in the quarter ending december, 2009. The full impact of the pay per second and the pay per call would be seen only in the quarter ending March, 2010 because it was introduced sometime in November, 2009. Lets wait and watch out for these statistics in the near future. -
Tata Docomo Gprs On Demand
vvinayakpai replied to rajendra.jindal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
This is a wonderful initiative from Docomo. A wonderful tariff!!!!!!!! I think this is the best tariff plan by any operator till date -
I couldnt agree with you more sanjay regarding the lack of good quality handsets on the CDMA front. But I personally feel that the situation would change in the near future especially after seeing launches like the corby speed model. Also, I had read one more post that samsung is planning to launch more phones on the corby platform very soon(not sure whether it is going to be on the GSM or CDMA platform though). At this point of time we can only hope that the situation changes in the near future especially with the likes of Samsung, Micromax exploring the advantages of OMH handsets in India.

I am a little confused about the battery backup of the phone. In post #143 kumar_amit01 experienced a superior battery performance of 4hrs continous TT+12 hrs standby time. Whereas according to ankur1986 he got a very average battery performance of just about 13 hrs with medium usge (Post #173) Is this huge discrepancy due to some change in settings or technical issues?????????????
-
I second the above opinions. CDMA is far superior. In CDMA even with one single network bar, we can converse without any disturbance. Wheras in GSM thats not the case. Also, all operators cannot perform in the same manner in all geographical areas with respect to their tower position, location of customer etc. It might be that s207 is in such an area where the RCOM CDMA signal is not upto the mark to suit his needs. So his views are also justifiable. But in my personal experience, I have used 4 GSM operators (Spice/Idea+Hutch/Vodafone+BSNL+RCOM) and till date I have not found a real substitute to my RCOM CDMA.Opinions may differ ffrom person to person.

Telecom Subscriber Base Count In India
vvinayakpai replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
But still i feel that the 29ps scheme clubbed with the call setup charge scheme would be a better bet. In fact for long callers it works out to be really cheap, provided the number of calls made in a day are less!!!!!!!!! -

The only thing I like about Uninor is their lifetime vlidity condition. No minimum recharges required. Just an outgoing/incoming sms/call is suffuicient to renew the validity!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Yes promo talktime is valid only for 7 days.

Awaiting more reviews. Wonderful phone. Now people would definitely be forced to change their outlook towards CDMA
