Uninor tariff now shown in their website
vvinayakpai replied to KanagaDeepan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Tried calling the Uninor CC from my BSNL landline as well as my Reliance CDMA/GSM connections but in vain. From which network did you call up their cc? No information about their launch until now. -

Uninor hoardings and logos are now displayed all around Bangalore. Most probably they might launch their services tomorrow. -
Uninor tariff now shown in their website
vvinayakpai replied to KanagaDeepan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
These schemes are really pathetic. Telenor had formally entered the India markets when such type of tariffs were prvalent. Maybe thats the reason they have introduced such tariffs. If these tariffs are not modified/withdrawn, Uninor will have to cut short its Indian dream very soon. -

How People Know About Reliance Offers?
vvinayakpai replied to afzal_6339's topic in Reliance Communications
I agree with you 100%. Even though Reliance has the best schemes, it lacks in publicity and relies on word of mouth rather than spending on ads which I dont think is a very good decision. Its high time RCOM takes up marketing also seriously. After all marketing is not about having the best wares, but convincing people that you have the best. Hopefully, Reliance steps on the gas for upping the ante in the marketing scenario as well !!!!!!! -
Virgin Mobile enters the per second billing warzone Virgin Mobile, the youth brand of Tata Teleservices was the last to join the per second billing wagon. In this month every provided came with their own versions of Per Second Billing but nothing was as enticing as the plans launched by Reliance & Tata Docomo. The fire ignited by Tata Docomo has done wonders to Indian Telecom industry with fare dropping drastically in past couple of days.Virgin mobile which is known for its aggressive marketing tactics has always launched per second billing in Mumbai,Maharashtra & Goa circle. They have opted to stick to a simple plan unlike GSM giants like Airtel,Vodafone and !dea which gives off-net calling at 1.2 paise/second. Following are the tariff details:- Virgin to all local,STD calls on any network- 1 paise/sec Local SMS at 50 paise and National SMS at Rs.1 Recharge Amount- 46/- Validity- Lifetime After 365 days a daily rental of Rs.1 will be charged for availing the per second billing facility. Note:- 1.Customer wont get "100 SMS free after first three" scheme after recharging with the above voucher. 2.Customer wont get Virgin to Virgin unlimited free calls scheme after the first three minutes of the day. 3.Customer wont be getting paid for receiving calls. Tata Docomo Launches New Recharge Coupon ‘full-on Bol’
vvinayakpai replied to kk999's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I definitely agree that it is not the best of offers. But for Rs. 99 if u can 694.xx minutes to docomo it is great. Also, look at the monthly subscriber additions of Docomo. It is advancing at breakneck speed. Also, from my personal point of view, most of my friends have switched to docomo considering their per second plan(even though i have not). So if u have a lot of docomo friends this definitely makes sense!!!!!!!!! Seeing this offer, hope RCOM also reduces the jaadu packs prices which are curerently around Rs. 249 for local on net limited.... -
Around 6 months i had the same issue. Some LOVE PACK was activated on my prepaid CDMA account without my authorization. I immediately called up cc and informed them, the representative handled the call in a very cool manner and told me that if i have not authorized it then the amount would be returned in 48 hours. Much to my surprise, the amount was credited back into my zccount within 24 hours. I was really shocked to see that kind of service!!!!!!!!!!!

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
vvinayakpai replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Maybe and maybe not. I was going through the other plans as well. Their per second plan is charged at 4ps/sec. Also they have a 50paise scheme, but 50ps for 30secs. MNP scheme was good though. -
Tata Docomo Launches Per Second Roaming
vvinayakpai replied to B R SHIVANANDA's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Tata Docomo is really taking the competition on to the existing players. This is going to have a murderous effect on smaller regional players like S-Tel, which to the best of my memory is planning to operate only in the north eastern states. It was really a wise decision by Spice to get out of the fray by seeling its business to Idea at a decent premium to current telecom valuations. Now i think all players will be forced to copy Tata Docomo and offer lietime validity on tariff of per second billing as well. Only once MNP is implemented, will we know how things are going to turn out in the telecom industry. And I must say Tata docomo is managing it well. Because they are operating with 4.4Mhz of spectrum and I have not heard of any congestion problems as yet from any of the circles. Mght be the DOCOMO technology effect -

OFFTOPIC I remember you had coverage issues with Reliance, both CDMA and GSM. Has the situation improved? Recently i read in another thread that Reliance has started improving their coverage on fast track now. Just wanted to confirm if anything material is happening on that front.. -

Rs. 38 to change the service provider is great!!!!!!!!! Really CONSUMER IS KING!!!!!! But I feel that it is too low a price and it may see frequent changes of service providers to take benefits of other service providers. -
Tata Does It Again. No.1 For 3rd Consecutive Month
vvinayakpai replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I agree with you!!!!!! The other day I had a tough time explaining to a friend that when you are buying a reliance gsm connection there is no necessity to buy a handset. At last I told him, "GSM no handset, CDMA handset purchase". I also told him about Open Market Handsets in CDMA but god alone knows how much he understood!!!!! -
Tata Does It Again. No.1 For 3rd Consecutive Month
vvinayakpai replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I am a little surprised that Reliance has ablt to manage only 2.1 million especially in the backdrop of the SIMPLE per minute tariff which was introduced on October 5th. Let us wait and see the figures for the next month because that would reflect figures for the pay per second and pay per call schemes as well. I really feel that it is got to do more with reputation that Reliance is underperforming the others inspite of having the best schemes in town........... Reliance has to do something or the other to get back that reputation and take their customer service to the next level esle it might be too late!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Docomo Vs Rel Simple Vs Rcom Per Second Vs Reliance 1re/3mins
vvinayakpai posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
The Indian Telecom Industry is on the growth trajectory since many quarters with more and more operatirs joining the bandwagon of existing operators to make a mark for themselves. The consumers have never been spoilt for choice earlier. There are at least 8-10 players in each and every telecom circle offering umpteen number of schemes and the customer is at liberty to choose the best plan that suits his indiviual needs. The latest in the telecom industry is "transparency" and "unconditional" plans. Tata Docomo has definitely changed the way people get billed for their calls by introducing "pay per second" tariff wherein the customer pays only for what he uses unlike in per minute billing where the customer has to pay for unutilised seconds as well rounded off to the nearest minute. And in unconditional plans we have the simple plan from Reliance offering local, STD, roaming and sms at 50ps/min for lifetime without any conditions. It can be said that these would be the base tariff plans for now and any scheme that is evolved would only bear resemblance to these schemes as these are the best schemes in their own category. Many existing operators have jumped onto the per second billing basis, definitely with some modifications. This has confused the Indian consumer even more. Should they opt for "transparency" or "unconditional offers" I have decided to compare the best tariffs in the market, the Tata Docomo per second billing and Reliance Simple Plan for a month (almost). I have attached a file denoting the kind of usage and the charges incurred on Simple and the Docomo style of billing. The inference I have been able to draw is that the longer the duration, Simple works out to be the cheapest, and on the contrary shorter the call duration Docomo is the best. Have a look at the sheet yourself and do let me know your valuable suggestions, complaints, criticisms and I would be glad to accept them with humility and try and do a better job the next time RCOM.xls -
Docomo Vs Rel Simple Vs Rcom Per Second Vs Reliance 1re/3mins
vvinayakpai replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Reliance has introduced killer tariffs. Never expected Reliance to go for the kill in this fashion. And if Simple was not enough Reliance has gone two steps ahead to introduce per second billing (and even in romaing) and the Re. 1 for 3 minutes. Amazing I must say. Full marks to Reliance and they have got their act together at the right time. I was actually wondering if Tata's pay per call tariff could be bettered. But reliance has proved me wrong. The best part about Reliance scheme is that there is no FUP on these tariff plans, that means you can talk unlimited, any tome of the day or night wihtout any conditions whatsoever, unlike TATA -
Docomo Vs Rel Simple Vs Rcom Per Second Vs Reliance 1re/3mins
vvinayakpai replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Dont have to wait. The cc informed that the plans are avaiable immediately. RCOM per second plan comes at a price of Rs. 58, and a tariff validity of 1 year. And the Re1 for 3 minutes plan comes for Rs. 38 carrying tariff validity of lifetime. The above information has been obtained from the cc. request all of you to confirm the same before going ahead and recharging fo r the schemes. -

Now that Reliance has come up with two more schemes I have decided to include it in my comparison. The new schemes included are RCOM pay per second plan and, the Reliance scheme where they charge 1re for 3 mins irrespective of mobile, landline, STD,local, roaming etc. Please view the attached file and give me your valuable feedback RCOMMODIFIED.xls -
Docomo Vs Rel Simple Vs Rcom Per Second Vs Reliance 1re/3mins
vvinayakpai replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I agree that docomo has packs which reduce local calling rates upto 30ps/minute (1ps/2 secs). But that requires purchase of packs, which to the best of knowledge cost Rs. 45 with 30 day validity. In RCOM Rs. 80 pack gives 200 local minutes which is 40ps/min. It is not a cost, in fact you can call it a free add on. -

Docomo Vs Rel Simple Vs Rcom Per Second Vs Reliance 1re/3mins
vvinayakpai replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
i was knowing this before calculation itself. I agree that i have not added the Reliance Simple tariff cost to the calculation. But it cannot be added for a single month. It will be added over the period of time. For eg if i use simple tariff for 12 months, the total cost for reliance simple plan would be 48/12 and if i continue using it for 24 months, the cost would be 48/24. Thats the reason I have not taken it as a cost.
