It really sounds good that RCOM may again become a part of the RIL group. But things are not simple as that. Anil Ambani would definitely not sell out because it would affect his reputation and also the stock prices of his other companies. Also fingers would be raised against ANil Ambani about his capability to take forward the other companies if he gives up this easily on the RCOM front. Also RIL would be acquiring a lot of litigation from such acquisition which would show on their stock prices as well. At the most I would expect a closer alliance between the two companies facilitation a slight cash flow from RIL to RCOM enriching each other on the cash front as well as the asset front. A full fledged acquisition or a change of management at RCOM is completely ruled out according to me keeping in mind the present scenario.

I agree that the key pad is a little too hard. But I have been using this phone from the past one year and I find it great value for money!!!!!!!!! I dont regret my choice even a single bit.

And with the deep kinf of trouble RCOM is in, even if Mukesh has the money he would not buy it. Because at the end of the day he would be acquiring LITIGATION rather than an ASSET in the backdrop of the 2G and related scams!!!!!!!!!!

RCOM has ceased from being a Imitator as well. It is too busy in trying to rescue itself from the 2G scam that they have stopped even responding to competitions tariff plans. God alone can save them!!!!!!!

How is the MTS coverage in Bangalore? Their 191 scheme offering lifetime 1ps/2secs LIFETIME is really giving me sleepless nights.

Really trying hard to know about MTS network coverage in Bangalore, but able to get any proper feedbacks from actual users. Also how good is MTS in transparency? Are they drauds like reliance in false VAS Acvtivations etc????????

Too good offer!!!!!!! I am planning to port my RCOM CDMA to MTS for this scheme. But only two hindrances pull me back. The commitment of Rs. 900 every six months and MTS network cverage!!!!!!!!!! ALso what would be the roaming rates????

RCOM might have realized but then it went to ADA who only focused on low end handsets. ADAG was never happy with CDMA. They never gave the promotions and advertisements that CDMA required. Now they have both GSM and CDMA and they are JACK OF ALL BUT THE MASTER OF NONE. They are still struggling to stay afloat

I am also using RCOM CDMA on my Samsung B-559. I dial all numbers using the prefix +91 and I have no problem. Maybesomething to do with the indiviual settings of your phone rather than an inherrent problem with RCOM.

Amazing phone with amazing features. Its a dream phone to own for me!!!!!!! But the price of the phone, I would not mind it to remain a "dream phone" for some more time until there is a steep downward revision in the prices

The problem with Reliance and Tata was that they themselves never strongly believed in CDMA. They were always looking at the earliest opportunity to jump on to the GSM bandwagon. In the process they lost out on important marketing and advertising strategies which could have highlighted the advantages of CDMA over GSM (I agree there are a few disadvantages too, but nevertheless). Nowadays Tata Indicom is so aggressive on Radio City in Bangalore highlighting the advantages of 800Mhz spectrum. If these strategies would have been adopted earlier, it would have been a close fight between CDMA and GSM. Anyway RCOM is still sleeping. In the end CDMA turned out to be orphan kids with no Godfather. Now MTS is trying to save the orphan kid. Lets see whether their attempt bears fruit. All the best to MTS anyway.

Whichever handset they offer does not matter at all!!! Buy the handset, use it for around 6 months and then shift to a OMH handset. The offer is too good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if reliance rises like a phoenix at any point of time in the future, I would say their past was very foolish. At one point of time, they could have been the undisputed leaders, but they let go off their advantage. That happened mainly due to the changing hands of reliance infocomm to ADAG from Mukesh Ambani. I still remember, in 2003-04 whenn all the exisiting operators like Airtel, Hutch (now Vodafone) were offering local call rates of Re. 1 per minute without any tariff cutters, RCDMA was offering a tariff of 1.49(not too sure) without any tariff cutters. And only with a Jaadu recharge of Rs. 49 could the rate have been reduced to 49ps/min. This did not go down too well the subscribers because of the initial expenses. Also Anil AMbani was obsessed with starting GSM all through out. In the end I feel that RCDMA did not get the publicity and support it much required. Reliance did not market the advantages of the CDMA technology anticipating that they would be getting GSM spectrum and they would be shifting to that tchnology finally. I am sure if RCDMA had adopted better marketing techniques right from the beginning focussing on their brainchild (CDMA) rather than focussing on the adopted child(GSM) it would have been a diffeent picture now. But now seeing the kind of trouble they are in, I really doubt whether they would be able to rise like a phoneix as anticipated by many, at least in the near future. Their balance sheets are so crappy that no body is interested to purchase even a small stake even at the current valuations. The only thing that can save them is some collaboration with Reliance Infotel Broadband, but again not too sure whether it would be a very wise decision for Mukesh Ambani because he would be buying into litigation rather than assets. Only time will tell regarding the success/failure of RCOM. SO let us wait and see and hope for the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that means if I am using an android phone which supports Voip I can make a Voip call to another user who also has a similar android phone, right? Also, is it enough for me to load the skype software in the android phone and then use it for Voip calls or do i have to buy an android phone which Says VOIP as a feature????? Does LG Optimus 1 support Voip?

This is a general query about android phones in general. I happened to see a Galaxy 3 phone recently and noticed that it has a preloaded SKYPE app. So does this mean that we can make skype calls through the phone??????? Also is it permitted to make calls within India through Skype????? I remember readinf somewhere that it is not yet allowed or something like that!!!!!!! If that is possible then I plan to wait for the LG Optimus 2x which comes with dual core processor!!!!!!

How is this phone? Is it worth the money? Does this have a dual camera to support video calling?
