Is Mukesh Ambani Planning To Develop A New Telecom Company?
vvinayakpai replied to savramesh's topic in Reliance Communications
I hope Mukesh Ambani also enters the telecom sector. I am sure we consumers are going to love it!!!! Regarding has plans to enter the telecom sector, I am sure it might be a good and a feasible option. Because when Reliance Industries Ltd forayed into retail, it has also invested in setting up optical fibre cable(ofc) throughout the length and breadth of the country, depending upon the location of their retail stores and corporate offices. This was for internal purposes, hence was not a breach of the non compete clause, which specifically mentions, the commercial competition between the brothers for a period of five years. So now if Mukesh Ambani wants to enter the telecom sector, all he has to get is spectrum. For that, he can pick up any of the new players and strike a deal. There are many players who are stuck without capex for the rollout obligations. So it might be a distress sale. But also, considering the fact that spectrum is a scarce commodity, whoever is selling may not be in a hurry to sell their stake at a cheap rate. If Mukesh Ambani, finally manages a hot deal, he has to arrange for the cash for purchase as well as the rollout and expansio n plans. Because at this point of time, with 3G coming round the corner, it would not make sense in investing only in 2G and neglect 3G. SO that makes a larger investment necessary by the senior Ambani to set his foot into the telecom sector. And this might cause a dent in the balance sheets of RIL which I am sure he would not like, at least in this kind of a market scenario. SO lets keep our fingers crossed!!!!!!!! Let us hope that Mukesh also enters the telecom fray once again and lets get ready for the party, anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

I got a sim card from THE MOBILE STORE, CMH Road Indiranagar for Rs. 25. But the service was pathetic/ They took almost a week to submit the documents and activate the sim card. Subsequently I recharged for Rs 50. So total cost of acquisition of sim card was Rs. 75 whereby I got around Rs. 55 talktime -

CBI to close RCOM case 14 Jan 2009, 0034 hrs IST, PTI NEW DELHI: After spending three years probing if Reliance Infocomm masked international calls as domestic ones through auto call-rerouting, the CBI appears all set to close the case as it could not make any headway. Though CBI spokesman Harsh Bahal said “matter was still under investigation,” sources in the agency said a closure report had been finalised as it was not possible for the CBI to probe into the case any further. After a year-long preliminary enquiry, CBI registered a formal case in September 2006 against four top former officials of Reliance Infocomm (now renamed Reliance Communications) and unknown BSNL officials for “masking” global calls as local ones.

I agree with you dude. Agreed that the growth potential in terms of subscribers is high for Reliance compared to other operators. But what about the service?????? In 2.5 years I am yet to see any improvement in the customer care of Reliance!!!!! It is still at a nascent stage as it was earlier. When I said that Reliance COmmunications downside was unlimited I was also referring to various other factors. I hope you are aware that RCOM's books have been forwarded to Comptroller and Auditor General’s office to look into possible tax evasions. Also, Reliance is famous all over the country for its one time courtesies, meaning, introducing a mind blowing scheme and then blow you out totally by withdrawing the scheme in total. That is the kind of reputation it has in India. I would also like to clarify that I am a die hard Reliance fan and thats the reason I am sticking to them. I also wish that Reliance COmmunications does really good in the future and even maybe overtaked Bharti. But a change in attitude has to be brought out at the CC and the WW's all over the country. I wish Reliance realises it soon!!!!!!!!

Reliance Cdma Number To Gsm Number Conversion?

Reliance Cdma Number To Gsm Number Conversion?
vvinayakpai replied to mr.sanjeev's topic in Miscellaneous
I couldnt agree more with you. Once reliance starts full fledged services, my calculation is that they will be able to attract a large number of subscribers. This may result in congestion of network. Also I think only a very few people will use MNP to shift to CDMA, because of the problem of expensive and lack of choice of handset. So I feel that in the long run CDMA would be a better choice for a less congested network. Only concerns would arise of step motherly treatment is given to CDMA compared to GSM because GSM is the revenue generator, at least compared to CDMA -
Reliance Cdma Number To Gsm Number Conversion?
vvinayakpai replied to mr.sanjeev's topic in Miscellaneous
Mobile number portability will be introduced somewhere in June, 2009. Once MNP is introduced, it can be implemented only through a central agency who will be incharge of MNP implementation. Rcom is fighting for MNP within its own company (i.e subscribers who want to shift from CDMA to GSM or vice versa) within actually having to approach the central agency. SO if this is approved by the Government and the regulatory authorities, then u can shift from RCDMA to RGSM retaining the same number much earlier than June, 2009. But the problem is that even the Tata's are opposing this move of Reliance. -
^^^ My dear friend, whatever it will be, whether Reliance GSM could beat other Operators or not, but one thing is for sure that we can atleast get BETTER HANDSET OPTIONS in GSM which are not their with Cdma. Thats the main reason for me considering to shift to GSM. Regards. Dear friend, For reliance GSM it is a matter of survival for Reliance GSM. They are starting with a pan India GSM operatotions at a time when all the other GSM operators have more than 15 years experience in the same industry, and above all with the same technology. Also, Reliance is launching its services at a time when MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY is coming into the market within a period of six months. Agreed that Reliance has an advantage of having a virtually zero subscriber network and can offer seamless quality network to all its subscribers, and this might force some high end customer from rival operators to shift into RGSM which might have a positive effect on their revenues. But at the same time they are facing a great disadvantage. Because their network is a new one, it is bound to have some hiccups initially. Because of these initial hiccups there are possibilites that the existing subscribers may turn to tried and tested operators rather than risk their money on RGSM. After all we know the service quality of Reliance CC and WW. I would say this is going to be mixed bag and it all depends on how RCOM moulds its employees to meet its new challenges ahead. I must say, if Reliance sticks to its guns, the downside is limited, and the upside is unlimited. But if Reliance fails, then for the exisiting GSM operators, the downside is visrtually nil and the upside again UNLIMITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I dont think Reliance will make the mistake of shutting down its CDMA operations because the OFC cables they have laid down are used by a variety of businesses, like Adlabs, for the transportation of virtual prints of movies to other cities. I think this technology will be retained with a larger focus on DATA plans rather than voice plans.

Tata Indicom Karnatata Offers Rs.22 Stv
vvinayakpai replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I hope reliance wakes up soon. Reliance is already sleeping in Bangalore over the launch of the GSM services. The GSM services have been launched all over Karnataka except Bangalore. Sometimes certain decisions and policies seem so starnge and ilogical!!!!!!!!! -
I fully agree with you 800 mhz is Very Strong and wider in Coverage, and 1800 mhz weaker but very good to reuse between towers as Range is low the same Frequency can reused for Better Customer Coverage thats the Reason 3G-GSM have Choosen 2.1 Ghz so same Frequency can be reused more time in City. Dear friends, Until now I was getting impeccable coverage on my CDMA network. I never faced a problem like voice breaking for the past 2.5 years i.e right from day one of taking my reliance CDMA connection. From the past few days I am seeing that I am facing voice breaks very often and the quality of speech on the phone is not as good as it used to be before. I am extremely disspointed. Any of u facing similar problems? And all thanks to their GSM services

Reliance Launches Customer Experience Programme For Gsm
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Miscellaneous
Thats the trick n thats what im gonna do if there's no funny verification here.. Everyday Rs. 5/10 getting credited... use it for Local/STD/Roaming.. throw the sim after 90 days! Fool them for god's sake this time. It is a dual advantage. One one hand if ur able to get more then one sim card, u can use it lavishly and benefit the maximum. The company also benefits the maximum because their network will be tested to the maximum and they can get the best possible feedback. Especially with Mobile Number Portabilty coming, I dont think the company would want to compromise on quality once the actual services are launched. -
Cdma-based 3g Services Limited To Existing Players !
vvinayakpai replied to Honest's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Fewer operators would also mean that there is consolidation rather than competition. Especially considering the fact that both TATA and RELIANCE are companies that have invested heavily in the CDMA business and are now made to invest in the GSM segment due to a shift in the market conditions. It cannot be ruled out that the tariffs might not be at the lowest and it may lead to consolidation rather than competition among the two operators. -

Hopefully Reliance GSM will set the trend like how Reliance Infocomm did a few years ago. They seem aggressively poised to become the number one in the market. And the fact that they are starting with a new network (virtually zero subscriber base), will give them the edge in the mobile telephony market compared to the existing GSM players, provided a little more focus is giving on customer care services. -

The irony is that , though services have been launched in Karnataka, the sim cards would be available in Bangalore only after January 15th, 2008 according to a reliance web world official I visited a RELIANCE WW and a Reliance Communications outlet to get a first hand experience of the GSM handset and connection. But they do not have any information regarding the launch. They told me that the stock has arrived but they are not authorized to sell it as yet. That is RELIANCE!!!!!!!!!!! I feel they are delaying things just a little too much. So much so that my excitemen is being changed to frustration First they were creating a hype about the commercial launch and now they are not interested to sell their products!!!!!! Hopefully the service quality will be better even though I have no great hopes from Reliance from the customer service point of view -

Finally Reliance GSM has launched its tariff plan in Karnataka. Cost of sim card = Rs. 25 Recharge to be done at the time of activation = Rs. 25 Validity of connection = 6 months Offer is that every day, 5 Rs will be credited to your account which will expire the same day if it is not used within 24 hrs. For a period of 3 months 5 rs will be credited on a daily basis. No additional recharge need be done if 5Rs/ day is sufficient. This amount can be used to make any calls, either STD or local. If additional recharge is required you can do a top up recharge. Best part is from 11PM to 6AM RGSM TO RGSM/RCDMA (only within Karnataka) calls are absolutely free!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, the plan is not launched in Bangalore as yet. It is launched all over Karnataka except Bangalore. In Bangalore it might be launched on 15th of january, 2008, according to the information recieved from Reliance Communications outlet in Bangalore. Sms details unknown............... Roaming information unknown............. -
