CDMA In India – Past, Present And Future
vvinayakpai replied to rajanmehta's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I think the maximum speed offered by the 3G Private players is 21.7MBPS. So if CDMA EVDO auctions become a reality, what can be the expected speed for EVDO combined with a) Rev0 and B ) Rev A????? Because in another forum I read that the maximum download speed offered by cdma Rev B is 14.7 MBPS. Does that not make it quite slower compared to their GSM counterparts????? Especially considering that cdma is more data centric than GSM as the tenchology inherently enables faster data transfers!!!!!!! Also how many of our cdma operators are having a Rev A or a Rev B compliant network????? -
One more doubt that came to my mind. How many of our CDMA operators Tata, Reliance and MTS have a Rev A and Rev B ready network?????

Bharti Airtel Hikes Gprs / Mobile Office Tariff By 150%
vvinayakpai posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Bharti Airtel Hikes GPRS / Mobile Office Tariff By 150% India’s largest Mobile Service operator and Global global telecommunications company Bharti Airtel, today revised its default GPRS charges and have hiked Internet browsing tariff by more than 150% !. Interestingly this time no price drop, rather Airtel hikes up the 2G GPRS/EDGE browsing charges. Now Airtel GPRS/Mobile Office users willbe charged at 30p/20KB pulse rate(existing rate is 30p/50KB) In other words, now a Airtel GPRS customer will have to pay around Rs. 15/MB in stead of the existing rate Rs. 6/MB. The new tariff will be applicable from 5th January 2010. This change in tariff does not impact on new postpaid and prepaid subscribers who enroll any tariff plan in last 6 months as per TRAI rules. All such customers upon completion of 6 months on their existing plan will be charged as per above revised mobile Internet browsing tariff. Airtel also announced that from 28th December its “Airtel Live” GPRS/WAP Mobile Portal browsing will be charged at the rate of 30p/20KB which was earlier free of charge. With the hike in 2G GPRS-Mobile Internet tariff, it seems that Bharti Airtel threw water over its mobile users who had hopes of “cheap tariff” for upcoming 3G Mobile and Data services which is expected in January 2010. ADAG tag dropped, master brand to now be called RELIANCE
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
Something more needs to be done!!!!! I think their image has taken a beating much more than they can imagine. Just look at their Stock prices. They have faced the wrath of investors who were fed with nothing but empty promises and rightly the stocks have been punished. I dont think this makeover is going to have a positive impact. The only advantage is that it brings in a sense of Unity among the brothers and this might jack up the so called ADAG stocks whenever there is a rally in the RIL stock(owing to the common name). -
CDMA In India – Past, Present And Future
vvinayakpai replied to rajanmehta's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^^^^^^^^ Excellent article!!!!!!! Thanks for the link I have one more doubt. CDMA is always considered a superior technology as long as data transfers are concerned. I read an article about BSNL 3G that they are going to offer sppeds of 21.7MBPS (http://telecomtalk.info/exclusive-bsnl-to-offer-14-2-mbps-super-speed-on-3g/52475/). So considering the above article, the maximum speed offered in Rev B is 14.7MBPS. How can evdo Rev B(as of now the most superior in CDMA technology) match up to speeds, at least promised by these 3G operators?????? -
CDMA In India – Past, Present And Future

Can you please explain the difference between Rev 0, Rev A and rev B???? -
This year I was surprised that not even a paper advertisement was placed in remembrance of Dhirubhai at least in Bangalore (not sure about other locations). Generally in the Bangalore edition of the Times of India, there is a huge picture of Dhirubhai highlighting his achievements for the Reliance Group. The advertisement was generally placed on record by the RIL group in the TOI. But this time there was not even a whisper about his birthday. Have the brothers decided to forget him after their recent "truce"????????????????

Looks quite good!!!!!! But what about the battery specifications?????? If my information is right, Rev A refers to higher sppeds for data transfers. But this phone shows that the max speed is 3.1 Mbps. What exactly does rev a mean???

Uninor Celebrates its 1st Anniversary with Exciting Offers
vvinayakpai replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Uninor is exactly tryint to do a replica of the erstwhile Reliance Infocomms feat way back in 2001-02. They are tryng to build a larger subscriber base and even if their license is on the verge of being withdrawn or cancelled they can plead on behalf of their large customer base who has imposed faith on them. This is exactly what was adopted by Reliance Infocomm when they had grossly violated their license conditions when starting CDMA services. They came up with their Industry Dynamics Changing Offer, the MONSOON HUNGAMA, ganrnered a subscriber base of 1 Million(very huge during those days) and coaxed the authoriities from cancelling their licenses and got away with paying a fine. And the best part about the Monnsoon Hungama Offer was that Reliance Infocomm did not make huge losses due to the Monsoon Hungama Offer. It was the Insurance company which suffered the maximum losses because subscribers used the mobile services for a few days and when they got their bills used to throw away their mobiles and claimed the insurance amount on the insured handset(remember the handsets used to be insured by the seller). -
^^^^^^^^^^^ Still I am really surprised that the B-559 has not been updated on their website.

After a month would your call tariff revert to the Lifetime 50 ps tariff or would this tariff cutter would have a over riding effect on the lifetime tariff??????????????

Reliance Launches New HSD (EVDO) Datacard Unlimited Plans
vvinayakpai replied to vikasmahajanz's topic in Data services
Discount for old customers? That is totally unheard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reliance might go to the follish extent of giving discount to new customers and penalising their existing subscribers. That is the way RCOM works. Loyalty has no value !!!!!!!! -

Mobile Number Portability service from November 25
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Excellent find!!!!!! If the above article is true then it is good riddance to roaming charges!!!!!!!!! But I am sure the operators would fight tooth and nail against this policy. After all it is going to affect their bread and butter badly -
One small defect I noted in this phone (not actually a defect), just a drawback. The timer gets reset to 0 after every 24 hours of talktime. In my previous LG phone the total number of hours of talktime right from th beginning f purchase of phone to the end was displayed without it getting automaticlally reset. It had clocked almost 1369 hours (approx. ) but in this phone it gets reset to zero after every 24 hours of talktime.
