Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
vvinayakpai replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
The newer operators might definitely try their tricks at cut throat competition tricks. Because their downside is limited and in a bid to attract high value customers from other operators -
On one hand they reduce the local calling rate and on the other hand they increase the STD tariff. Really funny!!!!!!

RCOM better realise what is happening at their side!!!!! After the GTL and the ETISALAT deal falling through, RCOM must put on their thinking caps and mend their ways. Its really a big negative for them!!! -

New Local Unlimited offer for Kerala Reliance GSM

Definitely there would be a FUP. A pack from Reliance without FUP would be too hard to believe. -
Upward Tariff Revision :any Possibility
vvinayakpai replied to ravi_patent's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Definitely I feel that tariffs are not going to head southwards from here on. Northwards would be the ultimate lng term plan of operators. Maybe once MNP is implemented we may see a short term race among at least the newer operators to garner a share. But again once the freshness about MNP is lost and people settle down, tariffs would head northwards. In the end we may not have as many operators as now. The smaller ones may be gobbled up by the bigger ones, or a totally new strategy would be the smaller ones joining hands to take on the incumbents. Again this would depend on the Mergers and Acquisition Policy for the telecom sector. -

vvinayakpai replied to Honest's topic in Reliance Mobile
Now on the myservices.relianceada.com website, even credit card payments have been updated!!!!!!!! Maybe Reliance is gearing up for MNP. Hopefully their customer service is better regarding online recharges. I remember having a tough time last time when the amount was deducted but talktime was not credited, these people were not able to locate the transactions inspite of me providing the reference number, Transaction ID and all necessary details and that too from their own website. -

Even though i am not too fond of restrictions, I feel that 600 mins per month is very reasonable -
I agree that Logan is a good car. But it has the lowest ground clearance among all cars in India. It has a ground clearance of just 155mm.

In terms of budget and reliability Maruti ranks Number one. But there is one criteria in which almost all Maruti cars score lesser than their respective counterparts in the same segments. And that is cabin space and leg room space. Even though I face this problem in my car (wagonR), I ccannot even think of any car other than a maruti because Maruti cars are virtually maintenance free. DISCLAIMER: I have not owned any car other than a Maruti and my views may be biased towards maruti for the reliability factor.

vvinayakpai replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
This looks like some kind of an internal adjustment to me. The younger brother withdrawing from the auctions, elder brother acquiring pan India spectrum and in the end both of them trying to ink an infrastructure sharing deal which would definitely benefit both. -
Broadband Wireless Auction (BWA) Results
vvinayakpai replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I am a little confused about this latest technology coming to the forefront. I understand that as of now Voice over IP for local calls is banned. If the BWA spectrum is used by the winners in the auction to move towards LTE technology, and assuming that voice over IP for local calls is legalised, then will I be able to use the same handset I am using today (the mobile) or do I have to buy a new instrument? Also, does the LTE technology offer mobility, maybe something like national roaming etc? -
Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Another option is the entry of RIL as a MVNO, something on the lines of the future group entry entering through Tata Docomo in the brand name of T24 (not sure about the name). And also, a preferred partner might be the Videocon Mobile Services Company. Because if i remember right, a director of Reliance Industries Ltd. Mr. Manoj Modi owns a 15% stake in Videocon Mobile Services. I am not saying anything for sure, but this is a huge opportunity for both companies. Beccause Videocon can reduce their capex by inducting RIL as a value partner. -

I also read another report on Etisalat eyeing RCOM stake. Then their 45% stake in Etisalat DB would have to be sold out. So if the Balwas group is not interested in increasing their stake then I am sure it would be a good option for Mukesh Ambani. -
Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
I really wish he enters into telecom. I remember reading an article a few years ago that he was setting up OFC all along the existing pipelines of RIL and RIIL. Anil Ambani had raised objections quoting the non compete agreement. The defense taken by Mukesh then, was that the OFC's were laid out to cater to the Reliance Retail Venture(something like a capitive venture), which was permitted by the earlier MoU. Analysts were of the opinion that the scale of the OFC laying was very much like a pan India operators network. -
^^^ I agree with you friend. End of the day Nokia is the king of GSM. But i really dont find any flaws when i consider the price I paid for it. It is a perfect phone for me and saves the ordeal of charging my phone each and every day

A few more snaps. The main thing that attracted me towards this phone was the battery backup and the Red and Black finish.

Here are a few photographs of the phone. (Kindly execuse my poor photography skills )

At last on last sunday I purchased the above handset after my LG RD 2650 gave way after serving me for four years. I purchased the phone for Rs. 2100 The samsung CDMA B 559 is a pretty good handset (i am constantly comparing this to my previous LG RD 2650) I got a standby of around 100 hours, along with 2 hrs of radio playback, and also 4 hrs of talktime over a period of a week. I still remember the pain of charging my 2650 every single day and sometimes two times a day to enjoy uninterrupted usage. I have been using the samsung mostly in VIBRATE mode hence i feel that the battery backup is much lower than what is being advertised. Sound clarity is also good, but it is not as smooth when compared to Nokia GSM phones. But for the price, I would say it is great. Voice clarity is a great experience too. I can store around 1000 contacts in the phone. The phone has the USB charging port. It takes quite a long time to charge. The exact time I shall inform you after a few hours as I have just put my mobile for charging after a full discharge. It has features like VOICE RECORDER, FM RADIO RECORDER etc. When I recorded a FM clip, the memory status showed that I could record a total of around 12 minutes of clips. It also sports a decent torchlight. Other features are standar like the calendar, calculator etc. But one possible defect that i found is: Suppose in a particular contact you store more than a single number, i.e. an office number and a mobile number. When that particular person calls, only the name is displayed and the number from which he is calling is not displayed. This feature was available in my LG. NOTE: I have written this small review for the benefit of fellow rimwebians. If I have missed out any crucial points please inform me so that I can build up a comprehensive review. I have been using this phone for only a week.

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Court refuses to stay 3G auction J. Venkatesan New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to stay at this stage a Delhi High Court judgment declining to interfere with the 3G spectrum and Broadband Wireless Access auction slated for Friday. A three-judge Bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justices Deepak Verma and B.S. Chauhan, without granting any immediate relief, posted the Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court judgment for hearing on April 16. The CJI told counsel for the appellant, “you are not the bidder. It is filed for somebody else.” Justice Chauhan observed “You are a ‘benami' litigant. You have no right to pray for stay of the auction process.” Petitioner Umesh Joshi filed a Public Interest Litigation against the applications for auction of 3G and BWA spectrum on February 25, and fixing the last date of submission of applications on March 19. He questioned the short time given for submission of application forms. He contended that since only 20 to 25 days' time was given, only big bidders could participate in the auction.
