vvinayakpai replied to Arun's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Any information about the commercial launch of Etisalat GSM services in India???? In Karnataka (Bangalore) their network is not being shown during the manual search as well. But while I was roaming in Kerala last week, ETISALAT network was shown in the manual search -

How reliable and user friendly are the huawei brand of handsets??????? -
Seems like a perfect phone (on the feature front). A decent battery along with a memory card feature (thank god without the camera) makes it a perfect choice for me. ANy user reviews?????

Big Bazaar To Launch MVNO
vvinayakpai replied to ravi_patent's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Well in this case I really hope that the ambanis dont learn from the Tata's. This, because, nowadays after the stupendous success of Docomo and the foray of Virgin into GSM in South India, it is a real pain in the neck to connect to any docomo mobile after 6PM. Especially if the number is an 8 series then the minimum number of attempts required are at least 20 to connect through once!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried from RCDMA, RGSM as well as BSNL and the problem persists. I also tried the same when i was roaming in kerala. The same situation encountered!!!!!!!!!!! -
Sad to know that the GPRS tariffs have not been updated on their websites. Not even a link

Videocon Gsm Service Launch Next Month
vvinayakpai replied to ::Hitesh::'s topic in Indian Telecom / General News
The launch of datacom is definitely a non issue for me. They initially had plans to launch services as early as August 15th , 2008 from Tamil Nadu circle. Then due to internal problems the launch date was postponed to August 15th, 2009 and now a new date. Also their DTH launch was delayed significantly from the initial promised date. Seems like the company must do proper homework before giving out dates. I would certainly not prefer such an "uncertain company". -
Used one and only LG RD 2650. Using the handset since 3.5 years. Clocked more than 1265 hours of talktime.

About a week ago I did a Rs. 100 and Rs. 200 recharge on my RGSM and RCDMA mobiles respectively. Surprisingly, I was able to use the promo talktime on my RCDMA while roaming as well and also for STD calls/sms. Whereas on my RGSM, during roaming and for std calls/sms I was being charged from the Main balance. Sometimes RCOM is really confusing!!!!!!!!!!! I had enquired with the cc and they had informed me that the promo talktime cannot be used while roaming but could be used for STD calls/sms.

Huawei to launch 3G, WiMax CDMA smartphones Sep 06 2009 20:27 hrs IST By Bhaskar Hazarika Bhaskar Hazarika New Delhi Chinese telecom equipment provider, Huawei plans to launch 3G and WiMax enabled code division multiple access (CDMA) smartphones for the Indian market in next couple of months. Huawei is planning to launch its smartphone category in the open market. After the government’s decision to auction 3G and WiMax spectrum within three months, handsets makers are gearing up to launch 3G and WiMax-enabled mobile phones for the Indian market. "Apart from bundling, we are also looking at launch the devices in the open market. Till now, we have been offering our handset to the CDMA players through bundling, but now we are planning to make it available in the handset stores," a senior official from the Huawei told Financial Chronicle. Huawei handsets are being offered by Tata Teleservices and Reliance through bundling offers. Other CDMA handset makers such as LG and Samsung has been betting big on the Indian market for the 3G devices. Last month, Samsung launched the open market handset Mpower 699 for the Indian market in cooperation with Qualcomm. At present, all the major handset makers have their range of 3G-enabled handset models available in the country. The official said the company would offer competitive pricing for its handsets. “We are going to offer the 3G and WiMax-ready devices at a competitive price compared with the handsets available in the market today. It will be a full-fledged device with all the features of smartphone,” he said. It has been learnt that the devices would be available for customers for under Rs 10,000. Two major Chinese network equipment vendors, Huawei and ZTE Corp offer its CDMA handsets for Indian customers through bundling with telecos. Chinese equipment vendors have been in controversy after the security agencies raised concern over the import of telecom equipment. The ministry of communications and IT is planning to set up a telecom equipment testing centre. bhaskarhazarika @mydigitalfc.comalfc.com Source: http://www.mydigitalfc.com/companies/huawei-launch-3g-wimax-cdma-smartphones-370

I activated the unlimited 299 plan and stared happily surfing. My main balance was around 82 Rs. yesterday night. After surfing for quite some time, I disconnected my phone and checked my balance and was shocked to see a balance of Re. 1. Also the internet got disconnected. Called up customer care more than 12 times today to inform them about their system goof up. Each time I was informed that they were not able to check the details as their systems are being udpdated. At last I got through a rep who assured me that everything would be fine and he was courteous enough to lodge a complaint. He admitted that there was a technical glitch (he spoke to some other dept it seems) and he assured me that amount would be refunded within 48 hours. Really pathetic service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have decided one thiing. After this 299 pack expires, I am going to stick to reliance only to make calls and recieve calls. No more "Extra curricular" activities They tortured me to the core today whole day -

Reliace Communications Gets A New A-Team
vvinayakpai replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Reliance Communications
I really hope that RCOM does not commit foolish mistakes to just copy airtel or imitate what Airtel has been doing all these years. We must remember that when Airtel was indulging in these so called tricks there was no mention of MNP etc. They enjoyed monopoly for some years before actual competition started coming in. Also customers had to latch on to their numbers at any cost. But now the market dynamics have changed. MNP might be coming in at least 2 years from now (I really hope so), also 3G services might be launched by private players too (shall i say in 5 years?) At this point of time if RCOM tries to copy airtel, they are going to dent even further their already low reputation among customers and subscribers. Hope RCOM does not try to do an Airtel, at least all in one Go -
I spoke to Olive CC regarding their Olive V-G200 pwr phone. It seems it has a 2000mAh battery!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!

How Did You Bump Into RIMweb for the first time?
vvinayakpai replied to rsucker's topic in The Lounge
At first i hated reliance especially their telecom venture and i was searching for new reasons to hate them especially because of their handset lock feature. Initially i was under the impression that rimweb was owned by reliance. :-) i also got to know through google search. I was not a fan of rimweb initially but now i am an addict and i am loving it every bit :-) PS: Thanks to rimweb i am posting this message through my Nokia 2700 Opera browser. If not for rimweb, the GPRS settings would have looked like greek and latin to me. -
Called up the reliance customer care to enquire about th price of this phone and they informed me that this phone is no longer available. Was surprised because this phone was intriduced just a couple of months ago. Is the quality so bad that Reliance was forced to discontinue the model?????????

Excellent information!!!!!! Waiting for the CDMA launch soon!!!!!!!!!

I actually wanted to activate the 299 plan for my GSM number. Yesterday when i called up the CC, they trell me that there is a FUP of 2GB which is as mentioned on the website. Today when i called them they tell me that there is no thing as FUP and it is a thing of the past. Really confused!!!!!!!!!!! -
The phones look really good and impressive. Dont know about their qualiuty thoigh. I am really thinking about a particular point. When we have so many mobile phone companies importing Chinese phones and rebranding them in India, is there any inherrent advantage of owning a haier brand mobile phone, which is Chinese to the core.
