hey, we r getting out of the topic. so what do u ppl say bout rimweb having a wap site? we could just keep it updated with the current hot topic, just a brief introduction, and those who visit it could then view it online and get chatting. we could also put up a bit of a help page. then rimweb would always be at the touch of a few buttons...

yea, that is true, but it would be better if u ppl could discuss and then translate it into english so we would understand. but for now let us continue this way, and when we get lost we will as you...

yea it is definitly a good idea ashok. not every ppl are like vikas, and if u can get ringtones ready to upload then it would save a lot of trouble and less chance for complaints

hi harsh its my viewpoint that not everyone has to post on a thread, if u find something, interesting and can add to the discussion, then post. if you see somethings that doesnt seem right then say what u have to say. so just keep reading and comment on things which u feel would be an addition, also dont forget to clear ur doubts. i am sure there are a lot of ppl like arun, chirag, ashok, niket and vikas who have a good idea on what they r talking bout. and they would be glad to answer any doubts

well they have provided some ringtones, but i dont think it is that great. nothing new in them either.. isnt that working on ur nokia handset?

i dont think there is any legal issue. we have the freedom of speech, and the net is all about free flow of information. if some people have found ways to penetrate the system and reliance is not happy about it, then they should have taken care to see that it is not possible.

hey, is there any way to remove the tones which are not removable when u download a new tone? i hate some of those tones

well it is meant for ppl who have laptop. and a gprs phone would cost Rs.6000 up... i think that is what they r counting on. and also the only mobile co which provides internet is airtel, i am not sure of any other cos... so it will certainly pay off. and they always charge a premium on their products. just take a look at the data cable. i saw somewhere that it can be made by any person who knows the wire coding... and that would cost only Rs.50 or around that.

i hope they will give it to regular house hold too... i cant wait to change to something more fast than this asianet cable

hi ashok and chirag were right all along... at present the handset does not support downloading of ringtones from a wap site... so all those hopes washed away at present the only way to download ringtones is from the ones they have put on r-world

yea ashok, it could be java, but i have a belief that java is just a platform i dont think they use java to make a site, it would be too tedious and also it would take up too much bandwidth. and since reliance is giving wap then they would also be using it... the major prob with r-world when accessing sites outside r-world is that it might be having a bottleneck effect and hence the speed would be too low. in the case of other providers it is not the case since only a few phones would be wap enabled and also very few providers give wap facility. in the case of reliance all the handsets are wap enabled and many of them utilise the facility... that might be the reason why u r getting "Couldnot Fetch Response" message. with regard to chirags doubts. well, since we are talking bout reliance and r-world and all such things it should look good if we had a wap site. arun take a note of this. most wap sites have the url as wap.sitename.com so we could have wap.rimweb.com we might as well put this forum up as a wap site... and from there we could think bout giving out additional facilities like ringtones and wallpapers...

i dont know how to get the ringtones to download. maybe they just link it. and it asks if u want to save it. for eg: consider a zip file on a website. u dont have to write any special code to save it. u just link it. it might work the same way... another thing is wap have very stringent standards.. if reliance is giving r-world using wap(wml) then anything tht is possible by wap can be done on r-world too. i am trying to find someone who is familier with wap and wml.... i was studying it, but i had to stop after 2 classes because of my exams and college studies.... so i cant do much on that. or else i have to study it from the begining...

i dont understand, if they r not using wap (wml) then how r they giving r-world?my understanding is that r-world is actually a wap site it is not a reliance site. it is a site which has been linked by reliance. it works just like in any webpage. u have a homepage, and u link another site on your page. any site for what? what happened to the link bout some guy doing something to get ringtones for nokia? any one followed it up?

well he is giving it for nokia. and i think he might be converting it into ringtones and putting it on some wap server. i dont know if it would work with lg or samsung.... any thoughts?

yes there is a site called cartoons.com on reliance which offers ringtones, i am not sure if it works or not. but if it is not possible then how would reliance give ringtones? they too would have to use wap service. dont they? and if they can then so can any other person.

currently there doesnt seem to be any option to go to a specific site other than the ones provided by reliance, the only way seems to be finding the site using the search engines.

hi i would like to know if there is anyone who can do programming in WML. anyone who is interested pls post in this thread, i would like to bring out a wap site from where everyone can download ringtones.

try upgrading ur software. or contact webworld maybe they will take care of the prob in the next version of the software by kbps do u mean kilo bytes or kilo bits? because reliance is giving 115 kilobits per second. no isp will commit anything like that. it is very much network dependent. as chirag pointed out. and reliance is not really an isp. the net is just a related service. but even though they r not really an isp they r the 5th largest isp in india....

i am sorry i didnt get the ring tone of roja. but i still have the saatiya ringtone... (dont hate me pls.) everyone hates me because of that. the rest i dont think i care bout them much... but the christmas ringtones were not that bad

it must be a conisidence. because i have been doing some work on that, there are a couple of sites on r-world which gives tht facility, but they cost a lot. one cost 2.5 euro, comes to bout 125 rs. so too costly... wait a bit maybe i will be able to come up with a wapsite from where u can download ringtones. wish me luck guys. and i need some support too. does anyone have software to convert mp3 to ringtones??? help me for all of us

well, would it be possible to convert if they used 2nd hand parts. i mean old mobile with network or some similar prob. and use the external items of cdma?

i dont think it is because r-world is free i doubt if they know it is still free now. coz they havent made any announcements. i found out about it only when i overheard it at r-world and then i checked it on the r-world... i believe they use it for more serious matter. like news, contents etc
