  1. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

Please take the cable back to LG and have it exchanged, it is defective. I am using a aftermarket cable bought for Rs.400/- and it is now giving me any problems. Can you tell me if you cable is a straight USB cable or a USB to serial convertor? A usb to serial convertor will have a box like peice in the middle of the cable and there will be a "LG USB convertor" software in your Program Files. PC sync software available with me works. It is 10.5 MB in size. IF someone can suggest some free space, than I will upload it there for users to download.
  2. Rworld On Brew Platform

Currently the LG 6000 does not support the multimedia content of R World. All other content is supported. MMS is possible directly from the phone which is a pleasure. Multimedia content on LG 6000 (brew platform) may be available much earlier than March 2005.
  3. Reliance Launches 5 Nokia Handsets

I mailed Nokia customer care and following is the reply I got: "Dear Mr. Tanna, Thank you for your email to Nokia Care. With reference to your enquiry about the launch of Nokia 6255, kindly note that this phone is not yet launched in India. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide exact dates of release or availability information of this model, as the releases and availability dates are market dependant. Please feel free to write back to us for further assistance. Thank you for your continuous support. Please help us improve our services by simply clicking on the following link: http://asknokia.survey.nokia-asia.com Warm Regards, Umesh B.M. Nokia Care India"
  4. Effective R-Connect Speeds

Most of you seem to be download freaks. But I used the net mostly for sufing and doing some work online. Dowload speeds are okay. But the actual surfing speeds **** big time. The transfer rate on reliance is not steady. It goes up and down every second. Some please try speed test on www.numion.com There are two speed tests. One is "Your Speed" test and "max speed". Reliance works great for max speed which is basically downloading from one site. But when you surfing the net, you are sending multiple download requests every minute and when you have mulitple browser windows open, than the number of requests going is mulitple. Here reliance fails to deliver. It is very very slow. Even slower than most dail up connections. I have tried the freedown plan for 1 month on my mobile and gave up after one month. Now I am trying the freedom plan on my FWP, but that too s**ks and it seems I will have to give up on R connect and only use it when I am travelling and only have my mobile and laptop to connect to the net. Some of the heavy users of internet, please post the figures you get on www.numion.com for all of us to compare.
  5. All about LG RD6000

Image shot on my LG 6000. in a room. Remember the phone does not have a flash. See the resolution. I feel it is better than Nokia 6600 and of course any other Reliance phone.
  6. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

You can upload / download photos and wallpapers using the datacable. You can buy either serial or usb or a usb/serial convertor. Phone supports both serial as well as usb protocols. I believe the cable supplied by LG is a usb / serial convertor. If anyone has bought a cable from LG / Webworld, do let me know if it is a straight usb cable of a usb / serial convertor type.
  7. Internet Usage Calculation

I am using netmeter for over a month now it works like a dream.
  8. Original Or Duplicate

There is nothing like Origianl and Duplicate. It is reliance supplied and aftermarket. Both work as well. The FWP USB version is only available in the aftermarket. The Samsung cable is a straight USB version and using any should not make a difference. The aftermarket ones have charging whereas the one supplied by Reliance does not charge the phone while surfing for half and hour so it will die down.
  9. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

Yes, you can do the same with email. But it is much faster with cable and bitpim. For PC Snyc, I am using LG Sync software, you can also use bit pim. With bitpim, you can transfer wallpapers, ringtone, phonebook and calender, though I have not tried all the funtion. The cable is available for Rs.400/- so I do not think it is such a big investement.
  10. Data Cable For Lg Rd6130

5130 and 6000 cables are different.
  11. How To Copy Phonebook To Another Phone

Back up the phone book of 2030 using LG Desktop 1.0 (available on www.lgmobiles.com). Save in .csv format. Than install LS PC Sync for RD 6000, import the .csv file in the PC Sync for RD 6000 using appropriate colums (6000 has 10 tags per entry whearas the 2030 has only 5). Than just upload, it will take some 15-30 minutes but your whole phone book will be transferred.
  12. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

Dear JHS, User BitPim, it works like magic. Just take care to first reduce the size of wallpapers to (120 x 131) size in .bmp format. Bitpim does the conversion for you but does a very lousy job. You can use photoshop to do the conversion. If you do not have photoshop, just dowload irfanview (its freeware) and resize your images and convert them to .bmp with irfanview and upload them to you phone using bitpim. I have uploaded some wallpapers and they are just brilliant on the phone. I have not tried uploading ringtones, that is my next project and as soon I sucessfully upload some, I will post it here.
  13. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

Lg PC Snyc (for RD 6000) is available on the Reliance site. Please download it. I have it in CD format, if you need a CD, please pm me. First save your phone book of 7130 in csv format and than import the csv in the PC Sync for RD 6000 and just upload. I transferred my phone book from 2030 to 6000 and it went off smoothly.
  14. All about LG RD6000

I too bought the phone and felt cheated at first but after some time when you go through the features, it is a really good phone and I am in love with it. a) it is a 0.3 MP camera and the resolution is very good, esp. the low light ability and the EV compensation. It shoots better in low light than my 2 MegaPixel Canon or any other digital camera I have seen (I am a dealer of Digital Cameras). The display is a brilliant 2,62,000 colors. All the Nokia owners hide their phones when I show them the display. c) The answering machine is fully functional, you have to know how to use it. To use the answering Machine - Menu - 9 - 3 - 3 and set it to answering machine and it will work. If you want to listen when the phone is recording - than Menu - 9 - 5 - 2 and set the speaker to on and you can hear what the phone is recording and you can choose to take the call!. d) The headphone s**ks and it may be a firmware problem, hope it gets solved. Till them I am putting the phone on Auto answer - again Menu - 9 - 3 - 3. e) Battery life is better than any other LG phone though not in the class of Nokias. It gives 3 days of standby without much use. But I know a friend who received / makes 80 calls and still the battery lasts for 1 and half day. f) You can send MMS directly from you phone to any email id, first for Relaince. Its a pleasure sending emails from the phone. g) Bit pim works like magic and you can add as many wall papers as you like and with the brilliant LCD display, the wallpapers look as good as on the display of my laptop. h) Yes, I miss the games and R world features but I hope Reliance takes care of them soon. Basic R world is functional, only the multimedia content is not available. i) The phone has true usb connectivity (not serial like other LG phones). Hope Reliance has the sense to give a straight USB data cable for the phone so that we can tap the 230 Kbps speeds offerred by the phone. All in All it's a great phone for the 9000 odd rupees you spend on it. All other GSM phone in this range have only 4096 colors (Nokia) or max 65K color displays and 100 K cameras and slow gprs.
  15. Tweaking LG RD6000 & Bitpim

  16. Problems With Reinstallation Of Modem Drivers

Use Add modem feature in the Phone and Modem and for driver say have disk and point it to the driver in the cd.
  17. Data cable and software

hi i think there is a software which makes ur usb port act as serial. i dont remember the name, but it is a number. i had it with a samsung c100, but i dont have it now, coz i returned the cd along with the cable. but i am sure you will be able to find it if u search on google. someone who have usb please try it and put the result here so that those who have usb can benifit. i think this is the software name "wd_pl-2303.zip" this a link i am not sure if it is the same software, but it seems to work for c100 try it and tell me if it workedhttp://www.mobiles.unipro.ru/files/USB-Device-Driver.zip 7315[/snapback] Dear Sunil, There is no software which can make a usb port serial. However you have a usb to serial connector cable for which you need the Pl2303 driver. The driver can be obtained from www.prolific.com.tw However to make this software work you must have a cable which converts the usb port to serial and at the other end a connector for your phone. 2130 uses the same driver for phone as the 2030. Need not worry.
