How 2 Mod And Setup Smc 3G Wifi Router (Reliance Version)?
Devesh replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
Hi, Thanks for the great post. I too was about to do the same. Update it with the latest firmware to break the idiotic lock which reliance has put on the router. Now I do not need to do so, since you have already sucessfully done it. However the latest firmware is : V1.0.1.10 http://www.smc.com/files/AY/FW_SMCWBR14-3GN_v1.0.1.10.zip Can you upgrade the firmware and check if that works? Now I think you can use modem of any service provider with the SMC router, so long as it is supported by firmware and not stuck with just Reliance. The list of modems which are supported can be viewed in the attachment : -
Hello, The FM of the mobile stinks. I do not get good reception anywhere. Can other users tell me if it is same with them or if there is some problem with my set.

Thanks a Mill Arun for this post. However when I copied to csv from my LG 6000 phone, it mixed up the mobile and home numbers. It put all the default phone nos. in one column which was phone1. Is there some way to differentiate the mobile and home nos.? Devesh

Hello, LG is tempting us with the TV ads of LG RD 6500. However there is no information available about this model either on the Reliance or the LG website. Funny, it says Americas Largest selling phone but I do not find any reference to the phone anywhere on the whole WWW. If anyone has any info on this phone, please post it here. I am looking to upgrade my LG RD 6000 but currently non of the phones appeal to me. The LG 6500 looks good and so does the Nokia 6265. But there is no launch information about any of them.

Hello, I too sell the camera. I can offer the same for Rs.7000/- plus vat.

This is so because the phone was developed for the US market where they wanted to charge the customers for every photo download via MMS. However bitpim has not been developed by great minds of this forum but by Americans who like Indians do not like to be fleeced by the Service Providers. The phone used to receive MMS from other phones as well as by email. I dunno what the status / problem is currently. Maybe Relicance has some servers down.

Dear Nellore, Please read the entire thread and you will find all the answers. The LG 6000 is a click and send phone, you can send mms directly to any reliance phone or any email id (yahoo works, gmail works, haven't checked other msps) from the phone itself. You anc download all the photos to the pc with a data cable with the help of a software called bitpim. Please atleast take pain to read what others have written before making stupid complaints. For all its shortcomings, the LG 6000 is the best phone being offered by Reliance currently. The only one with a decent camera. The cameras of all the other phones **** esp. the 6130 and the nokias.

LG RD 6310 ???!!!. When was this model introduced ??? Maybe you mean the LG RD 6130.

For a sub 15K cameras we would recommend the Kodak LS 743. It has got all the features of the Nikon 3700 but wtih a 4 MP sensor against the 3 MP of the Nikon. The lens is german, Schnieder (one of the best in the market), and the body is metal alloy. The lcd quality too is brilliant. IT comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and a charger included. If you hunt around, you can buy this beauty for Rs.13900/- all inclusive with 1 year Kodak India warranty. The movie mode is better than the Nikon, we have checked out both cameras personally. The move mode is quicktime in Kodak as opposed to avi in Nikon. I sell digital cameras online on Ebay.in and Rediff.com. So this advice is coming from professional in the feild.

Digital Cameras as a breed consume a lot of power. The sensor also consumer power in addition to LCD and Flash. 2100 Mah is minimum recommended. Nowadays 2300 and 2400 Mah batteries are also available. If you hunt around and bargain, you could get 4 2100 Mah batteries for as low as rs.300/-. However if possible choose a camera with Li-Ion batteries as this would give better performance than Ni-Mh batteries.

The self potrait mode which Rahul is referring to is more commonly called the self timer mode.

Installation of third party usb cables is a 2 part process. 1) Install the driver for the cable with the cable plugged in the usb port but not the phone plugged in. The driver will be provided by the cable provided. Usually it is the PL2303.exe 2) Once the cable is installed you will see an extra com port in your device manager. Now run the R connect installer given in the cd with with cable or which can also be downloaded from the relianceinfo.com site.

mms.relianceinfo.com is working. YOu can log in using your ricmail password maybe you billing password. It shows a list of emails/mms received. There is a mms composer as well as a media gallery which is under construction.

I havn't been able to get the USB cable working with uniCDMa, QPST etc for my SCH-A563 28137[/snapback] My USB to Serail cable for LG 6000 works with both uniCMa and QPST, however I have found no use for either software. If some one can suggest some use for these softwares, I would be glad.

USB to Serial port convertor cable is available for Rs.350- Rs.400/-. However they may be compatiability issues with other cables. It will work perfectly with serial devices but with other cable + serial device - who knows. Brands available - Bafo & Techcom. You may scourge your local icomputer market or may log on to baazee.com for easier shopping. I beleive there is no parallel to serial port available. Alternatilvey you may install a PCI serial port card which will again be available for some 350-400 odd.

Aftermarket serial cables for LG 340E are available on Baazee.com for Rs.99/- plus shipping. A CD with the necessary driver and R Connect software is included free. USB Cable for FWP is available in the aftermarket verion (but not with either reliance or LG) for Rs.399/-. It usefull for laptops and newer generation PC which do not have a serial port. Data speeds are same with original reliance cable or aftermarket cables. Just be sure you buy a cable with moulded connector for longer life.

Try the following: *3013600 to divert all calls to voice mail *302 to end divert *600 to listen to your voice mails. Sadly Reliance only provides for only 5 voice messages. After which every caller will get a message that you voice mail box is full. Even a premium paid service is unavailable. Hope these sleeping donkeys wake up. There is a huge market out there. Ppl are ready to pay for incease in the size of their voice mail boxes.

Surfing speed really s**ks in Mumbai. It is normally between 6 kbps (yes kilobits) and 20 kilobits. Sometimes during the night I get about 30 kilobits per second. It really s**ks. It is much slower than I get from my cable connection (40-60 kbps) for which I pay Rs.850/- unlimited. and much much slower than my Sify cybercafe where I have over 100 kbps any time during day or night. Only benefit with reliance is its mobility.

I have been going through all these posts. Here are a few comments: 1) The software (modem driver) for all LG phones is the same. i.e. if you have the dailler set up for 2030, it will work for 5130 or 7130. 2) You can use standard modem 28800 instead of the LG USB Modem and it will work fine. 3) You can create a simple dail up networking instead of the heavy reliance driver. Follow the following steps to configure the dail up networking. 1) First install the USB cable driver (PL 2303 in most cases with aftermarket cables) 2) Check in the Device Manager which comm port the datacable is attached to. 3) Go to phone / modem in control panel, add (install) the standard 28800 modem to the com port where you data cable is attached. 4) create a dail up connection from connection manager with #777 as the number to dail and the standard modem as your modem. 5) The data settings on the phone have to set to 1,15,000 and if there is option of usb or com, than it has to be set to com. Attach your phone and it work work well. Dacodez says that phone will work with data setting set 230000, however when I try with my phone, than phone is not detected by the r connect dailer.

With 4000 odd colors and a bad camera - still the best phone???!!! LG phones have 262,000 color LCD screen. What you get instead is FM radio and IR. Hope that compensates for the pathetic lcd and camera.

Unfortunately there is no model currently which has bluetooth. Nokia 6255 when launched will have bluetooh.

I have bought a USB cable on baazee.com and it works very well, both for r connect and bitpim / lg snyc. Only problem is that it is a usb - serial convertor cable and not a true / straight usb cable which would offer much better speeds on the internet. Sellers who are offering lg cables on baazee.com are: Digidot - bhavnagar NisaOnline - Hyderabad (same as rimwebshopping) SethiKamal - Delhi If you live in one of these cities you can buy on cod otherwise choose the seller you are most comfortable after seeing their ratings.
