Thanks @Deepv84, will check. Genius, if you are reading this, your advice for BP monitor would also be great. Edit thanks Rajan bhai, bought FEM-7112 using INR400 discount coupon. Thanks for the CD players as well. The philips ones are quite costly, any recommendations on cheaper brands please around INR1-INR1.5K. Sorry if this budget is too low I do not have clarity here. Meant to be a gift but still INR4K on what is essentially a CD player is not VFM.- 6,376 replies

Rajan bhai, Request advice for few more things. 1. Blood pressure monitor (though not strictly electronics but posting here for greater information) 2. CD player - use will be to play music CDs primarily. Our music system does not have CD player hence need for standalone player. Already have DVD player which connects to TV. Thanks once again.- 6,376 replies

@mobilefan any specific model you recommend? Rajan bhai, I am leaning towards the viera 26k as the philips is edge lit led not backlit led and also am confused about the less number of composite/component video inputs - the tv has to support 1 dth + 1 dvd, any idea if it can? Philips customer care could not explain. Also, any recommendation for backlit led hd tv within 32k ish. Thanks again sir.- 6,376 replies

In indigo website INDIGO5 used to give INR500 i.e. base fare off, do not know if it still works. HSBC has introduced makemytrip platinum credit card at AMC of INR499 with 2 indigo tickets base fare free and INR5500 makemytrip voucher, please check if you can get this. -

What does composite video input and component video input mean? The viera has more than the philips one. 1 dvd player + 1 settop box will be required to be connected to the TV. Thanks again Rajan bhai and punjabi/avanit.- 6,376 replies

Thanks for the wish, but I am not getting well anytime soon, anyway back on topic thanks again for the suggestion. If I increase budget to INR30-INR32K as earlier @akash said, would you recommend a better TV? I still do not know LED vis a vis LCD advantage, but on this forum only had read true LED is much more costly? But anyway, say if I did increase the budget to INR30K ish range, please give your recommendation - be it LCD or LED - basically best bang for the buck that you would have bought, and what you suggest I will buy straight off your recommendation. PS in Blr I have Panasonic Viera not sure if same model as you gave, so if possible some other brand could also be considered.- 6,376 replies

@Akash, thanks. @kshah, great deal you got! @HP, wow neighbor's envy owner's pride! I unfortunately cannot visit shops because I am sick and mostly bedridden, so online is the only way. Rajan bhai, Would wait for your valuable guidance. I am paying for this TV (not my father) as gift hence do not mind spending bit beyond budget. Edit bought this wired telephone as well, http://www.ebay.in/itm/PANASONIC-KX-TSC62SX-CORDED-PHONE-CALLER-ID-WALL-MOUNTABLE-SPEAKER-PHONE-Bill-/190688929462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item2c65f226b6 for use during powercuts.- 6,376 replies

Thanks for the help, for videocon have Saket/Avanit faced any hardware issues? I am a bit nervous about that. Does the box cause issues after one year warranty gets over, or is it just an observation you are giving. One more stupid question, we have SD TV limited to 99 channels, will we still be able to access the 200+ channels these DTH operators provide?

Rajan bhai, Request advice on few things. 1. Landline telephone with CLID - can be wired or cordless, prefer to buy from reputed online shop with warranty. 2. HD TV - I do not have much idea about the pros and cons of LCD, LED, plasma etc. but please suggest best one (considering it will be used in living room will 32" be ok or more?) around INR20-INR25K. It will possibly be used with HD DVR settop box. Must be from reputed online shop with warranty as it is high value purchase. Many thanks.- 6,376 replies

Thanks both, will check! I have an existing TS connection in Blr, so hope they give some discount for another connection. One thing I am myself confused is about the HD facility because the TV is not HD ready, so essentially it is not going to be used (this is why I said future proof). But I want the DVR facility to allow recording, so is there something that does not make me pay for HD but allows DVR? SD DVR is what I mean. Sorry if stupid question.
-
Please suggest DTH box including HD DVR, factors to be considered: 1 Ease of use in menu navigation etc. 2 Require 1. "core" entertainment channels (star plus, colors, sony etc.), 2. regional bengali channels, 3. bengali/hindi/english news channels and 4. sports channels in lower cost packs 3 Cost per month and again, ease of choosing packs 4 English movie channels not required, discovery, natgeo etc english channels not required This will be used in Calcutta. HD DVR will hardly be used but want that option to be future proof.

Review: My experience with Windows 8 Consumer Preview
digitalnirvana replied to st_7's topic in General Technical Discussion
It is expected and rational that Metro UI will be the main UI because the exact same Win8 will run on x86 and ARM or in other words on PCs and tablets. -
As my post stated I am still not S-off. I tried a backup on my Dinc2 which is rooted, and was able to backup with no issues. I think you have indirectly answered me, nandroid, etc. are only available after root. The basic is just to flash recovery (God knows from where?). To be clear the generic steps are 1 download root script 2 download recovery image like clockwork mod/ACS recovery - this would generally be there in the same thread as that of root script - XDA forums is the place to check 3 flash root script verify SU 4 flash recovery image 5 boot into recovery 6 nandroid Optional download custom ROM boot into recovery clear cache flash ROM
-
Did you correctly open recovery mode, seems to be download mode instead. Also after rooting have you installed a custom recovery like clockwork mod because that is required for nandroid etc.
-
The epic does not actually have a bootanimation, what is has is png files run in sequence to given an impression of the animation. The filename used to be bootanimation.zip till Froyo and is called sanim.zip on gingerbread. Please read about sanim.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312347 Ankur and I and had made some custom boot animations with the reliance logo earlier in the thread, they are basic but for testing you can download them and rename to sanim.zip and place in /system/media in rw mode, should work. There are many animations in XDA in epic themes folder you can get from there.
