I have some miniscule amount of shares in some stupid companies, bought ICICI, RelInd, ONGC, but also GMR Infra, Unitech! and DLF! I bought most of these in one day in 2008 in a fit of madness, the markets had started to dip and my colleagues were buying and making money like crazy, so I got inspired and bought Rs 50K worth of stocks in one day. But little did I know that it was the beginning of the crash. I bought at 18K and the market went down to 8K. I watched in shock, too terrified to buy even at 8K. I thought of never buying stocks again. Since then Ganga has become more polluted, Amul baby has become Big baba and my stocks have continued to suffer. I think that Rs 50K is now worth around 20K, I do not even check. Sometime back I bought few shares in MSat!, HUL and Unitech I guess! again at high levels. Total investment around Rs 80K till date, networth might be Rs 30K. Not proud of coming out saying this and making myself look like a fool, which I am to be honest. I do not think about it anymore and the money is lying idle never to recover, but now the markets have been crashing again, I wondered what to do now? Do I sell these off, or again make a folly of buying? My question and intention of making this post is - what do utter newbies like me do when goaded to make investments/quick money in the markets? We never know when to buy or sell and burn money like SAOL panelists. This forum guides from mobiles to fans, surely someone can give us a "crash course" of the markets, now that they are crashing? If someone can make my money back to Rs 80K I will give them my bricked Hero as token. Disclaimer all incidents and references are completely accurate, any resemblance to any incident or person, living or dead, is completely intentional.

True but it will not happen by magic. One has to start somewhere. Corruption is there in all walks of life and will continue to remain. That does not mean we do not support the steps being taken to weed out corruption. I do not care if marches and slogans and fasts work or not. I support them because they are trying to do something. Something is better than nothing. We all like to sit on the fence and criticize, if we cannot add anything then let us not detract from the people who are taking part in these activities, it does not matter they are successful or not, what matters is the spirit of trying to make things better. Quoting my employer's group motto. Today is another perfect day, to defy the world’s naysayers. Today, we will think bigger than our size. Today, we will refuse to accept limitations. Today, we will not be held back by the past. Today, we will focus on the future — and never, ever blink. Today, we will break down another barrier. Scoff at another convention. And use alternative thinking. To solve another previously unsolvable problem. Today, we will accomplish something astounding. And in the process, change someone’s life for the better. Today, we will set an example for the world. With boldness. With confidence. With relentless optimism. Good Morning. Today is another perfect day... to Rise.

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware

They will honor only orders placed on HP SMB site. All the orders placed on HP's Home will be cancelled. They have huge inventory. BB has just sold what was in store. Otherwise they have returned all to HP. There are many retailers who are doing same. Could be, but HP has confirmed on twitter even some orders of SMB would be backorderdered and some not progressed. So I do not think they have the huge stocks as everyone is saying they have. Plus BB was returning initially but then sold off their stock. You might be right though, my information is from the slickdeals website only not sure if they are correct.- 6,376 replies

with reference to the above I wanted to cancel the order as I said in my earlier post I have messed up with the details given, and ordered another one from amazon when deal was alive yesterday night, now I am trying to cancel the order, but can't cancel the order on the website, called bestbuy cc they asked me to call back at 6 A.M EDT, in the mean time if any one want(who has US shipping addressand can some how can get to ship here) this contact me immediately, I don't take any extra money, just need the amount paid the order $117 which reflected in my credit card around Rs.5600(with all conversion rates, taxes etc). Note: the above said price I paid is only for receiving the item to US address only not to india. I will call bestbuy cc in the evening (after 6 A.M EDT) change the shipping address if any one wants otherwise cancel the order. Is this available still.- 6,376 replies

Sougata da I bought ipad 1 64GB wifi+3G from ebay.com for INR22K, the user had Apple care. If you search EBay or Amazon will get good prices, but you can consider these as baseline prices for official Apple warranty products. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad?mco=MTM3NTA4Mzk $449 for ipad 1 wifi + 3G is good approximately INR 20K+. The 3G should work in India as well. They are Apple refurbished so would not be any issue plus if you get Apple care which is extra warranty they replace ipad for less when battery dies. Basically ipad battery cannot be changed so when battery dies they ask to ship old ipad to them they send new ipad to user. For this price or much less you can get lot better Android tablets but ipad has own niche. Rajan bhai has given an excellent deal for Samsung 10.1 tab one page back (we were fighting over it , RM no offense meant). You can buy that it will have camera which ipad1 does not have.- 6,376 replies

i beg to disagree - if protesters turn violent, then non-lethal force is justified world wide as we saw in the london riots. before anyone gets upset - i'm not saying if the use of force was justified in this particular case; its a general response to a genralisation above. we should be celebrating a 'divergence of opinions' since that leads to a better discussion in any forum. nothing wrong with 'full blown debate's either - as long as they remain civil / polite they should be encouraged. The discussion was becoming a battle of words than an exchange of opinions so I stopped. The London riots, eh, that is a different kettle of fish altogether. You bring up interesting topics. The Met police did not do anything to stop the riots, what was initially anger at killing of a gangster soon turned into unchecked looting and vandalism. The UK is too politically correct to take action against the wrongdoers, the police is a social service not a force anymore due to the mindless lack of common sense. I am ok to have a discussion, the thing is, if you see the number of posts in this thread, it can give you an indication why the latest movement was not gathering that much support, that has changed mind now due to the events triggered by the government. Initially it was fashionable to support the movement by clicking on petitions to support Anna, but once that novelty wears off very few care to think about the cause itself rather than the hype surrounding it. This is not just true for this but for all the movements which require mass participation check the reliance data plans thread for example. This is not a fad of India but all over, youth are too preoccupied to think, a cause is not enough, the cause needs to have a sense of being hip for it to have effect. This is of course not true for all so we see thousands in candle light vigil now, they follow this cause because they care. Not all of us do. Simple question. Whoever signed the petition for Anna Hazare earlier would have continued to receive E-Mails from them for newer movements. How many did we sign. I admit I signed none because I was disillusioned by how the movement had been thwarted.

21 year old observation and still holds true today! H.V., Thanks for informing, did not know that and is indeed thought provoking. Ironically, the law says "someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis." while I was supporting Hitler in the hypothetical situation of him doing a satyagraha, not criticizing. *nervous* What does that make me?

digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Sougata da get an ipad if possible but if you do buy bluetooth keyboard/stand as well. Plus get Apple care so that when battery dies they can replace it. Ipad 1 is available quite cheap and unless you will use the camera it should be fine. The extended battery will mean you need to use custom back cover which will make the phone hard to use, better keep the spare external battery you are buying with you for use. Instead of pouch you could consider an otterbox cover. My views only.- 6,376 replies

^ OK I am not finding out flaws in your point, you seem to be taking it that way. I am sure you compare much more than me and you might well be right. If you read my post I clearly said if GEB is much higher then your point is valid, but there are times wheren GEB and import prices are not that different then GEB is better which was the case for my buy, the ipad through GEB would have been a better option because of the point I mentioned above. This is why when S&S was first discussed here at that time also I highlighted that customs for tablets is very high and gave a contact with whom it can be checked before buying etc., anyway not being off topic, I am not arguing with you so no offense. That was not my intention from the beginning. We are here to add knowledge to the thread, not detract from it.- 6,376 replies

I am not comparing the India price to import price. I was saying to compare import price to GEB price as there one does not need to pay customs. If GEB price is substantially high than import price then ok enough. Please read my post above. I bought an ipad1 for 22K with 7K for shipping and customs. GEB was selling it for around that price itself with lesser hassle as no need to pay customs (had to keep 7k in cash to pay to Aramex guy). Got it now? I am not doubting your find just highlighting for some items like tablets etc. importing directly might be not worth. By importing I mean ebay us + S&S not GEB.- 6,376 replies

At what price Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet is available in India? I do not know and that is not my point. I have an ipad imported and it cost more than 15% in customs. But it was still much cheaper than India price. My point is that importing them through S&S is going to be costly, if available through GEB it is better option.- 6,376 replies

Big move this, so far Google was equal to all OEMs for Android but now Motorola might get preferential treatment. Will be interesting to see how other OEMs react to this.
