Help Request - HTC Hero CDMA In Bangalore
digitalnirvana replied to digitalnirvana's topic in The Lounge
Hi Gaurav ji, In summary bootloader is corrupt due to my mistake in trying to flash ENG SPL on low battery. Here is the sequence of steps: 1. Bootloader was S-ON. 2. Flashed nand unlock file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759955. 3. Bootloader became S-OFF. The HBOOT version remained unchanged. I am not sure but think it is 1.47.0000. 4. Tried flashing a custom splash screen got ADB error remote not allow. 5. Read that for flashing custom splash screen there should be ENG-SPL (version numbers were given in a video on unlockr.com). 6. Tried to flash Darch's ENG-SPL from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765237. Got the icon of arrow out of box. Then the screen died. I presume the battery died but not sure. Current status: 1. Power does nothing. 2. Power + volume down does nothing. 3. Power + volume up three vibrates (plus if phone is on charge then the LED turns off, battery pull and reconnecting to charger LED turns on though). 4. Power + menu five vibrates (plus green LED blinks) 5. Power + home does nothing. 6. Battery LED works i.e. remains red then changes to green. 7. Screen does not turn on. 8. RUU does not work as PC does not detect phone. 9. ADB devices does not detect the phone. -
New Online Reservation Website For Indian Railways
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in The Lounge
Totally agree with KD ji's last paragraph. We need more convergence ie single window solutions which actually work well, not confuse the user with multiple portals doing the same thing equally badly. The IRCTC website has big user base so focus should be on it, if the website has poor performance then simply upgrade the servers, not create a new website which is much more expensive and seems to be in alpha testing phase with many defects. It takes time and effort to build a good customer experience, with such half baked efforts the railways will drive more online users towards the private websites. -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14141454 Mumbai: Explosions shake India's financial hub The explosions were in busy areas of Mumbai Three explosions have shaken India's commercial capital Mumbai (Bombay), local media reported police as saying. Police told Reuters news agency three people were killed. Other reports said dozens of people were wounded. One explosion was reported in the Zaveri Bazaar, another in the Opera House business district and a third in the south of the city. Indian media have quoted the home ministry as saying the explosions are a terrorist attack. Analysis Soutik Biswas BBC News, Delhi -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The three explosions in Mumbai have taken place in some of the most crowded neighbourhoods in the city. Zaveri Bazar is a bustling market area famous for its jewellers. It has been targeted before: during the serial blasts in the city in 1993, 17 people were killed and 57 injured when a scooter packed with explosives blew up there. Opera House, next door, is also a bustling business district teeming with traders. And Dadar, in the heart of the city, has one of the most crowded railway stations on Mumbai's busy suburban train network. The choice of locations makes it clear that the blasts were intended to cause maximum casualties. But early footage of one of the blast sites - a ripped-off cover of a bus shelter and a car with its glass shattered - points to a medium-level and possibly crude explosion. So far, there is no evidence to suggest that Mumbai is under attack the way it was in November 2008. And this could easily be the handiwork of a local group. The blasts came on the birthday of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Qasab, the sole surviving gunman from the 2008 Mumbai attacks which killed nearly 170 people. No group has said it carried out the attack. The authorities have not yet said who they believe might be behind the attack.

Hi all, Issue with Preware on Pixi plus on Sadikk bhai's 1.4.5 ROM, all the options on Preware except installed packages are greyed out. In effect I could install the applications only using WebOS quick install and they show up in the installed packages list on Preware, but I cannot install any new application from Preware. Please advise. Would have posted a screenshot but not aware how to. -

Samsung Galaxy Z to arrive soon, the cheaper Galaxy S II substitute Source. Source. With the same design as the Galaxy S II i9100, the Galaxy Z i9103 features near identical specifications, apart from a different, smaller display; a slower dual-core processor; less inbuilt storage; and a lower quality camera. The Samsung Galaxy Z has a 4.2-inch Super LCD display instead of the S II’s 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus offering; comes with a Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core processor instead of the 1.2GHz Exynos dual-core processor; features 8GB of inbuilt storage in place of the 16GB and 32GB offerings; and, has a 5MP 720p HD camera instead of the 8MP 1080p HD camera. The device is also not as slim as the SII, wider at its slimmest by about 1 mm, at 9.5 mm. Not shabby at all for a cheaper alternative to the current-gen top-end offering, but of course, a price figure would help that assessment. As it has a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, we don’t expect it to retail at the Galaxy S i9003’s price level of course, but enough to become a serious option for potential i9003 purchasers. The Galaxy Z has been announced at an pre-order price of 3995 Swedish kronor (roughly Rs. 28,000). However, while the pricing details haven’t been announced yet, we believe it will be very tricky for Samsung to price this phone perfectly. If they price the Galaxy Z around Rs 23-25k, then it’ll hurt the sales of the original Galaxy S (i9000), and make the S II look like an over-priced smartphone. If this one is priced anymore than Rs 25k, then the S II may just feel the pinch, since people may say that this one is almost as powerful for quite a bit less, let us buy it instead. Depends on which smartphone Samsung wants to see get hurt, more! -
Android 3.1 Honeycomb update for Acer Iconia Tab A500 delayed for Indian users. Source. The Android 3.1 Honeycomb update for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 has just been released internationally, but will be arriving in India only by the end of this month. According to company representative in India, the reason for the delayed arrival is one that we've heard before – most Indian service providers do not regularly support over-the-air (OTA) updates. However, it must be noted, a direct download of Acer's update, or desktop-based update software should have been made available instead, quite simply over Wi-Fi, if OTA is so hard. Especially since not all customers would necessarily insert an operator-tied 3G SIM in their device, especially in India, where contract based deals are not so popular. The update, when it arrives, will probably be via a Wi-Fi based method. Android 3.1 Honeycomb brings a number of improvements over v3.0, including resizable widgets, increased USB peripheral support, improved task manager and app launcher, and more. Refer to our previous coverage for more information. Do also check out our Acer Iconia Tab A500 review.

^ I agree the nook color is hugely underrated but now B&N are improving the software ecosystem trying to make it more of a tablet than a reader. Google for details. There are many nook colors selling on XDA marketplace at cheap prices, ofcourse risk involved of online trade but buy through paypal.

Handset Launches - News Snippets

Not sure where to post it but here it is, Samsung is on a roll. Samsung breaks records with Galaxy S II, sells 3 million in 55 days Source. The Samsung Galaxy S II has been an immensely popular phone with both critics and users ever since its release nearly two months ago, and now, we are seeing some numbers to back up that statement. Samsung has announced it has managed to sell 3 million Galaxy S II phones in the 55 days that have elapsed since launch, going ahead and breaking Samsung's own product sale records. Doing some quick math, that comes down to nearly 50,000 devices being sold each day, the world over. Talk about no supply problem and product shortages! Samsung also revealed that the most phones sold were in the European territories. All this, without the Galaxy S II being sold in one of the world's biggest markets for smartphones and Apple's primary target for the bestselling iPhone - the United States of America. Truly astounding... We won't be surprised if the device manages to break the original Galaxy S phone's (and its family's) total sales records, very soon. Speaking of families, Samsung also recently introduced a low-cost version of the Galaxy S II, called the Galaxy Z, which is surprisingly well-endowed for a cheaper alternative. -
