Reliance Offers LG Optimus 2X With ‘Money Back’ 3G Plans
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in Miscellaneous
I think it is different from MTS's offer where the phone was being given free but the tariff was not discounted. Here the phone is being sold for MRP but they are offering discounts in the tariff, so effectively the net cost is reduced where the phone is almost free? On the INR 1799 plan you are effectively getting INR20000 discount so RCOM's logic must be pay INR25000 we give you INR20000 discount so you get phone plus tariff at INR5000. This is still a nonsense offer but the only explanation behind saying money back offer that I can find. -

Radiation Risk: Are CDMA Cellphones More Dangerous Than GSM?
digitalnirvana replied to ravi_patent's topic in General Technical Discussion
^ There is no technology to provide unlimited calls without increasing BTS. CDMA has better channel utilization than GSM because it is a spread spectrum technology using pseudorandom code unlike GSM which is FDMA/+TDMA. But the flipside is there is more noise in the channel so mobiles need more power to communicate with BTS. -

I am serious. In fact not sure if you did knowingly or not but your step of draining battery, fully charging when off is one of the methods of battery calibration but you have not done the entire thing because after the phone is recharged the battery stats file should be deleted. The battery capacity remains the same but it is how the OS reads the battery is what is shown on the battery level. The OS can often read wrongly so the best way to do it is to delete the existing stats file, let Android regenerate the file. The battery calibration software does only this. The guide says to let battery drain, recharge while off, then run the app then it deletes the stats file. It needs to be run only once unless you change ROMs. After changing ROM the advice is to wipe data and cache partitions which will do the same thing. If you are not changing ROMs and want to wipe only battery stats through recovery mode, that option is there, no need to wipe entire data/cache. There are many methods of battery calibration one is given by Josh.

Rajan bhai Li ion batteries cannot charge to 100 irrespective of phone on/off when charging, if you use sense then it will show 100 but in AOSP you will see the battery shows 100 when plugged in but when removed it goes to 96, because Li ion uses trickle charge so it does not allow upto 100. Regarding the full battery drain and charging while off, that is a way to calibrate the battery but that is not a good way because Li ion batteries should always be topped up instead of draining like NiMH. Instead of draining you could delete the android battery stats or simply wipe data partition as the battery stats are stored there or use battery calibration software which I have mentioned in softwares post.

Apple Declares War – Slashes iPhone 3GS Price By Rs.15,000
digitalnirvana replied to nitink's topic in Other handsets
Had read somewhere iphone is the smartphone for dumb people. It was meant to be a snipe at Apple, but it actually shows why Apple is so successful. Most people are not tech savvy, they prefer Apple. Android is maturing but nowhere near the user friendliness of ios. -

Rajan bhai Bhārat along with India is the official English name of the country. Hindustan was in use synonymously with India during the British Raj. Today, Hindustān does not stand as the Official name for India. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_India http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_names_of_India these should be sent to the home ministry if they are not knowing. India as it is now came into existence because of the British, Bharat and Hindustan had geographically different borders than India. Sougata da the Hindu in Hindustan means the land east of the Sindhu or Indus, not land of Hindu religion so nothing blasphemous in it. Aksai Chin is part of China, India contested it because the Nehru interpretation was the borders should be geographical i.e. the Himalayas rather than the McMahon line, we got well beaten and it is under China. POK is different issue but for practical purposes it is with Pakistan, POK is called PAK Pakistan Administered Kashmir now by Google thereby making it more legitimate. You missed pointing half of Arunachal Pradesh is with China. But our leaders are not bothered so nothing can be done on it.

Nokia announces new dual SIM, Series 40 Touch and Type devices Source. Nokia has introduced three new Series 40 devices, all part of the Touch & Type C2 series – C2-02, C2-03, and C2-06. In terms of form factors and features, all three devices are nearly identical, with the C2-02 as the odd-one out, for not being a dual-SIM device. The two quad-band dual SIM dual standby devices, the C2-03 and C2-06, have the same Easy Swap feature, or a hot swappable SIM card slot, as the Nokia C2-00. The only difference between the C2-03 and C2-06 is that the latter comes in a different colour scheme. As for the pricing, the C2-02 and C2-03 phones are expected to start at 75 Euros, or roughly Rs. 4,800, and C2-06 is expected at 80 Euros, or roughly Rs. 5,200. Common features to all three Touch & Type devices, include a 2.6-inch 240x320 pixel 65K colour resistive touchscreen with handwriting recognition, a 2MP camera with QCIF quality video recording, 10MB storage with microSD expandability up to 32GB (2GB card bundled), GPRS/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, microUSB 2.0, FM radio with recording, and a 1020 mAh battery that’s rated to deliver up to 400 hours of standby time, 5 hours of talk time, and 37 hours of music play time. The three Series 40 phones come with Nokia’s new browser, which compresses data to be faster and more cost-efficient; as well as new Nokia Maps, preloaded. Offline location search is also available on Nokia Maps. Check out a video below showing off the three devices: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiRgnxoLO4c&NR=1 -
Apple Declares War – Slashes iPhone 3GS Price By Rs.15,000
digitalnirvana replied to nitink's topic in Other handsets
It will obliterate many androids at that price, do not underestimate the brand pull of Apple even if it is an obsolete version. Brilliant move by Apple and worrying for the smaller android manufacturers I think. Even with so many androids, every new phone is termed the iphone killer, every new tablet the ipad killer, and yet the iphone and ipad continue to rule the roost. -

Sony Ericsson Txt social networking QWERTY phone announced for Q3 2011 Source. Sony Ericsson also announced a new QWERTY device, the Txt, along with its Gingerbread-based Xperia Ray and Xperia Active phones. Meant for social-networking and instant messaging fiends, the Sony Ericsson Txt bears a 2.6-inch display without touch, and is based on a proprietary operating system. Though it is not part of the Xperia range, SE says it has some features inspired by them, and from what we can see in the image below, some of the UI flavour has certainly been carried over. For now, Sony Ericsson has not revealed too many details about the Txt. It will be available in Q3 of 2011, supports Wi-Fi, and has a 3.2MP camera. An optical trackpad might also be part of the deal. SE has visibly also added a SMS Shortcut key to the keypad for quick messaging. A native app called ‘friends’ will also be available, which will allow users to track and interact with five contacts on Facebook and Twitter. Based on its specs, the device should hopefully be available in the sub Rs. 10K range when it releases. Huawei Glory dual-core Android super-phone not coming to India -
It is all of these of course. The same is for any state with an English name like West Bengal, which is also called Poschim Bongo in Bengali and Paschim Bangal in Hindi.

Radiation Risk: Are CDMA Cellphones More Dangerous Than GSM?
digitalnirvana replied to ravi_patent's topic in General Technical Discussion
Hi Anand, Now your statements are valid point taken. Inherently CDMA is better technology than FDMA/TDMA, only if the power control could be better this would be the best there is. TDLTE is the next world beater. -
^ Did you restore titanium backup apps + data? That is often the cause. Restore only apps not data.

Radiation Risk: Are CDMA Cellphones More Dangerous Than GSM?
digitalnirvana replied to ravi_patent's topic in General Technical Discussion
1. CDMA phones use more power because of the reason you mentioned. 2. Spread spectrum means theoretically infinite users have full access to entire bandwidth using pseudorandom codes unlike GSM/UMTS which is FDMA+TDMA. But this code is effectively noise to all other channels other than the receiver which has the pseudorandom code. This is why it needs more power and power control is main issue in CDMA. Power and radiation/frequency are not same issue, this topic talks about radiation comparison which is determined by what frequencies these systems use. -
