  1. How To - Rworld / Tata Zone On Android

Sorry seen this thread late. Please add a shortcut of anycut on home screen and there the proxy port and URL options will be there. But before you do this please note the RWorld UID password is generic not MDN/MDN. MDN/MDN is for netconnect plans. What is your present data plan? Is it RWorld based or netconnect? I strongly suggest you go for a netconnect plan like the windows mobile plans instead of RWorld based one even though RWorld will not work on it.

I use lookout and kaspersky it has not slowed the phone rather juicedefender etc. do that.
  3. It is true what you say but the card for me was 1 GB, if it was damaged it would not have been detected by card reader instead of showing 1 GB. The packaging of Verbatim products, not just cards but pendrives, is difficult to open because of the thick paper and plastic cover around the product.
  4. I E-Mailed to customercare@letsbuy.com and ceo@letsbuy.com with screenshots of format tool showing 1 GB and error, they called to check, then they sent me Strontium 8GB card and arranged for pickup of the faulty card.

Facebook admits using negative PR to sway user opinion on Google's privacy policies Now, a juicy revelation by an online privacy and security researcher, Chris Soghoian, has shown a rather nasty facet of the industry’s rarely seen underbelly – a full-on smear campaign by Facebook that attempted to place negative articles about Google’s privacy policies in mass media. Facebook has admitted to hiring Burson-Marsteller, a leading PR firm in the U.S., to discredit Google’s privacy policies. Burson-Marsteller was tasked with secretly approaching major media outlets, and ask them to print these biased stories about Google without revealing their client’s identity. When they approached Soghoain, he pretended to be interested, and got enough details to realize that Facebook was behind the move, before speaking out to the global press.
  6. A patent filed over at the U.S. Patent Office has revealed Apple’s latest design innovation, which will hopefully see the light of production. The patent features images of what looks like the next, or 7th generation of the iPod Nano, with some new functionalities that will turn that minute wonder into something more versatile. From what the patent says, the iPod Nano 7 will have a camera onboard, as well as other new sensors, such as a motion sensor, a microphone, and a temperature gauge. All this for added “functionality.” How these would be useful on a tiny media player is a little questionable, but the combination might just yield some sort of new interface that combines them all in interesting ways. For now, a screensaver that adapts to the environment – such as orientation, temperature, sound – to deliver a live/active "Chameleon-like screensaver" experience, is an example application of the patent. Patently Apple reports on an interesting new patent application from Apple describing the use of environmental sensors to generate screen saver content for mobile devices such as the iPod nano. As an example, the device could sense such environmental characteristics as motion, sound, temperature, or even camera input, using that information to provide the users with screen saver content relevant to the setting. As one example of the technology in practice, Apple describes a screen saver displaying raindrops falling down the screen. By employing the environmental sensing, the device could automatically determine which way is down regardless of the device's orientation, allowing the screen saver to always display the raindrops falling downward. Apple's figures for the patent application show a device that appears nearly identical to the current iPod nano, a square device with a touch screen displaying up to four icons on a home screen. With the text and images included in the patent application also addressing the possibility of using images taken by an onboard camera to inform screen saver activity, it offers additional evidence that Apple is considering adding a camera to the diminutive iPod nano. Samsung intros foldable AMOLED displays that don't crease Samsung had showed off its flexible displays at CES 2011, but now, Samsung’s Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) has revealed something better – flexible, foldable screens that will never show a visible crease along the fold line. To prove this, researchers performed a test that folded/unfolded the display 100,000 times, with no apparent effect observable to the human eye, apart from a negligible 6% decrease in brightness along the junction. Using nothing fancier than regular and readily-available hyper-elastic silicone rubber, Samsung’s prototype foldable display also had a glass cover along with it, which would act like the touchscreen, and a protective layer. If you were wondering just how much the display could be folded, the official closing radius is just a millimetre – with the two ends almost touching. Many companies, big and small, have shown off their flexible displays, most of which can bend, extend, or be rolled. However, foldable screens were usually avoided because of the inherent creasing problem, one that now appears to have had a very simple solution. Speaking about how the whole set up works, HongShik Shim, one of the lead researchers from the team at SAIT, said: “All the materials in a foldable window unit (glasses and silicone rubber) must have almost the same optical properties and attach to each other strongly without any optical property change.” Source: thinkdigit.com here here.
  8. Android OS & Apps - Security Threats & Vulnerability

As Android booms, volume of malicious apps on the platform rises by 400% Juniper Networks’ Mobile Malicious Threats report is out, and findings show that since the summer of 2010, the volume of attacks targeting the Android platform has increased by over 400%. The most common type of malicious apps on the phone are SMS Trojans hidden within authentic looking apps, making up 17% of the malicious pie. Spyware and other malware are also common. Experts from Juniper Networks stressed the vulnerability of mobile platforms as a whole, as most mobile user do not bother to install anti-virus or security tools. “You don't have to be extraordinarily smart to write mobile malware these days because most devices don't have any security tools to stop the malware.” Many users perform financial and other sensitive transactions on their mobile, and most of these, despite the risks of spyware and other harmful apps, still don’t feel the need to protect their devices with after-market applications. An older statistic, from 2010, showed that only 15% of smartphone users actually employed any kind of security or anti-virus applications. While it is a simple matter to avoid third-party app stores and therefore largely avoid the risk of downloading a malicious application, the original Android Market too faces a problem, with Google having to manually zap plenty of apps often, apps that somehow made it to their store with the malicious code intact. It’s no longer a question that Google has to become a more efficient verifier of the apps it makes available on the Android Market, more like Apple – however, without going that far in terms of selection and curation. 9. Hands on: Samsung Series 5 Chromebook Samsung unveiled its Chromebook Series 5 at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday night. It will be available in black and white, and with either a Wi-Fi only option or Wi-Fi plus 3G. It features a 12.1-inch display, and will be priced at $429 for the Wi-Fi version, and $499 for the Wi-Fi/3G option. The highlights: the Series 5's touchpad is stiff and clunky. The keyboard appears to offer a bit more travel distance, while still maintaining the Chrome OS key layout: a search key where the "Caps Lock" should be, keys to shift between windows, full-screen keys, and more. The touchpad, meanwhile, is functional, and doesn't require jamming it down to make it work. Samsung claims that the Series 5 will last 8.5 hours with "active use," even though the chip inside it is now a dual-core Atom N570, according to Intel. Web surfing isn't that CPU-intensive, but now even 480p and even 720p video plays back decently on the 1280 x 800 display, thanks in part to improvements in Flash and the faster chip. Since Google constantly upgrades the Chrome OS, performance should continue to improve. What's new (versus the Cr-48)? The addition of a card reader, for one, which, when loaded, brings up a rudimentary file manager in a new tab. We're talking basic, basic file attributes and a preview window—one man's "rudimentary" may be another's "optimized." But it's still a bit of a shock. Functions such as Gmail's video chat and Google Talk appear in small panes that "dodge" each other, not allowing one to be placed on top of and obscure the other. A basic, 1-Mpixel Webcam allows videoconferencing. Samsung made an odd choice of obscuring a USB port and a mini-VGA-out connector on the left-hand side with some sort of rubber shield that will likely annoy users more than anything else. A second USB port on the right-hand side lacks the cover. Samsung hasn't officially said what's inside the Series 5. There's clearly a GPU and a solid-state disc (SSD), but we haven't confirmed the specs on either. The 802.11b/g/n is complemented by a two-year 3G subscription to Verizon with 100 MB per month for free—that disappears fast, let me tell you. Cheapskates should expect to browse lots of text-based discussion forums. Originally, Google promised the Verizon 3G would last "the life of the device" with the Cr-48, which, if you think about it, may be two years as well; it depends on if you assume "life" isn't the time until it breaks, but the Google's official lifespan of the product. No matter. Chrome OS's coolest features are the quick boot—under ten seconds—and instant resume. There's no need not to simply close the notebook while walking from place to place. The only drawback is that the OS occasionally resumes faster than the Wi-Fi can connect. Source: thinkdigit.com here.

  14. How To - Rworld / Tata Zone On Android

Sorry to hear but that is why I told you to check very carefully what user ID password you are using before changing. RWorld will only work if you are using RWorld ID password which is different from netconnect MDN ID password. Both cannot be used simultaneously. If you were already using RWorld ID password before please follow Dhiraj ji's thread to enable data. On the other hand if you are subscribed to netconnect plan and were using MDN ID password then configure MDN/MDN in QPST again and forget on the RWorld thing. I suggest you take help of your seller or Hetal bhai to get your data configured correctly.
  15. I tried formatting using phone did not work, tried using card reader with NTFS and FAT32 the card could not be formatted. Also the size of the card shows 1 GB in the format window. Given replacement Strontium 8GB card by Letsbuy, their complaint resolution process needs improvement. However sending E-Mail to CEO gets things resolved quickly.
  16. EATS Recent talk had both Facebook and Google in a bidding war for Skype. Earlier today, news was floating around that Microsoft might be close to cracking a deal with the Luxembourg-based VoIP experts. Now, Microsoft has officially announced in a press release that it will be acquiring Skype - a deal that is valued at roughly $8.5bn dollars, making it Microsoft’s biggest ever buyout. In the words of Steve Ballmer, the companies will work together to create a "future of real-time communications so people can easily stay connected to family, friends, clients and colleagues anywhere in the world.” The press release further details the roles Skype will play: "Skype will support Microsoft devices like Xbox and Kinect, Windows Phone and a wide array of Windows devices, and Microsoft will connect Skype users with Lync, Outlook, Xbox Live and other communities. Microsoft will continue to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms." As for just how the merger will work, Skype will become a new business division within Microsoft, with current Skype CEO, Tony Bates, taking the role of the President of the Microsoft Skype division. Skype has been around in the acquisitions world for a while, and was recently written off by eBay in 2009, after it failed to effectively integrate it into its ecosystems ever since it acquired the company in 2005. Perhaps the innovative and successful VoIP service is really meant to stand alone? Microsoft has a much better chance of pulling something off, with the WP7-Xbox-Windows ecosystem ripe for VoIP even on the consumer side, aside from the possibilities on the enterprise side. Stay tuned for more details about the deal as they're released, and check out the press release for more details. Source.
  17. Microsoft Buys Skype For $8.5 Billion

They have plans to integrate Skype with XBOX Live, Windows Live, Outlook, Windows phone and Zune. Windows phone, Live and Outlook makes sense but XBOX is not clear. But knowing MS under Ballmer, it might be a royal screwup and waste of money. Gates had the vision even though people vilify him.

There will never be any investigation, even the Bofors issue was never solved. WB elections are a mandate against LF not for TMC/INC. It is an anti incumbency vote and this is the end of the LF in WB. Communists do not come back to power once voted out, the precedent is worldwide. And before anyone cites Kerala as an example, there it is LDF not entirely communist.
