Every Phone May Be A Cell-Tower
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
So this is a peer-to-peer connectivity? I initially thought reading the headline that each phone would act as a BTS but it is not the case. How will data be transmitted over this P2P network, because telcos would own the spectrum (except for short range connectivity like bluetooth) - why would they allow revenue generating traffic be sent for free over their carriers? Sorry but this is confusing, can someone please explain. -
Finally RCDMA opening up to high end handsets. But will not be widely used unless the handset prices and EVDO tariffs are competitive.

Intelligence Bureau wants ISPs to log all Customer Details for 6 Months
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
By essential safety I mean safety to life and limb - this is essential. Any safety measures designed by the state to protect citizen's lives must go ahead. We are a democracy and one of the few countries where freedom of speech is truly practised. That is why we are debating this. If we were in a dictatorship like our eastern/western/northen/southern neighbours no one would bat an eyelid before snooping on information. Face the facts, we are only one democracy in the subcontinent, we cannot choose our neighbours. So if the government decides to put safeguards in place, we should welcome it - but at the same time the people implementing this must ensure that the purpose of surveillance is not misused. That is why I had mentioned this should be strictly in the government's domain, not private/public operators. We can go on debating, but as I had mentioned in my first post, nothing fruitful will come out of this. Because our government just made this as a for-show declaration, and then backtracked. Already Rajan had posted yesterday that government is allowing 3G video calls to go ahead without monitoring. This is what was expected, as government always takes half cooked steps to appease vested interests. If there is anything that we should debate and criticize, it is the inefficiency and corruption of our government - not the question of whether monitoring is needed or not. Because we all know the answer already, surveillance is needed. No one of us would accept it if another incident happened due to "intelligence failure". -

Please first open the security center and turn off all automatic protection, firewall etc. Then use task manager and end process tree for mcagent.exe and anything else starting with mc. Use end process tree rather than end process. -
CDMA In India – Past, Present And Future
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
True it happens is USA also, that is why there are so many bad ESN phones. But the average customer would not crack it, atleast in CDMA. Because in CDMA India there is very less operator choice, so where would the customer go with a bad ESN phone? -
CDMA In India – Past, Present And Future
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
RUIM or no RUIM, I think main issue is that in India all operators target the bulk and prepaid category instead of niche postpaid. While this is good to increase telecom coverage, this leads to very few options in high end handsets, especially for CDMA, as network unlocked CDMA handsets are mostly in the basic price range. In most developed countries (USA - CDMA/GSM, Europe - GSM) the carrier and the handset are bundled together in medium/long term plans. This is what RIM had started doing in 2003 with it's monsoon hungama offer. I do not know why they cannot implement the same thing again - this time across the handset spectrum - instead of just focusing on basic handsets. If operators gets postpaid customer with assured revenue for long term, I think they can provide more value in terms of handset price and voice/data tariffs. Customers would also not mind having network locked sets if the network is good service and value. -
KKR released all their squad - the only team to retain no players. They want to bid with full quota.

The last photo was taken by some Android website it seems, lol that explains. Android > Apple. But really this looks great. Similar in looks to iPhone, it is like an iPhone running Android. Great price. The chinese are really delivering some great hardware, and software too. There is huge hype around MIUI (google for the youtube video for MIUI ROM on Android) which was made by Chinese.

USB WiFi Router Configuration For BSNL EVDO
digitalnirvana replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
^ The BSNL website does not show it, let us know if it is still valid. Definitely a steal. PS I have a question, bit off topic though. I have a RCDMA phone on which EVDO will not work. But it has WiFi. Is there any way of using a USB EVDO device which will serve as a WiFi hotspot when travelling? I mean like a USB WiFi modem that can take EVDO SIM card. Then the phone can be paired with it and EVDO can be used on the phone over WiFi. Daydreaming? -
Intelligence Bureau wants ISPs to log all Customer Details for 6 Months
digitalnirvana replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
Raccoon ji the reverse is also true - They who can give up essential safety to obtain a little temporary liberty, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Nothing personal but surveillance is here to stay. The debate is - what limit of surveillance is ethical, and how to ensure that the process is unobtrusive, foolproof and robust. No one wants their data in the wrong hands. -
