  1. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

Hello Everybody Among few things that prevents me from dumping my Nokia GSM mobile phone for my Samsung Metro TV CDMA Phone is GMail Mobile application. I tried really so many times to make the J2ME version of GMail application to work well in my Samsung phone. But, i am not succeeded in that yet and have gave up since some time. But still i would be very happy if the applications work in my mobile phone. If nobody succeeded in making the application to work in your samsung mobile phone or if nobody is interested in, then what other applications can be comparable to j2me version of Gmail?
  2. Hello Everybody Thank you for your efforts in attempting to resolve my problem. I am really happy to let you know that Rimweb was lucky for me, After posting the problem here, i got the solution. @ Karthik R Please check this link http://www.tatateleservices.com/forums/showpost.php?p=52740&postcount=9 The solution provided in the above link wonderfully resolved my problem. The magic part is "Extra initialization String". Then, i was able to just use "internet" as username and password.
  3. The mobile phone is working as a modem perfectly, as when i click Dial Button, the mobile phone is trying to establish a connection. I don't have access to Windows XP right now. I tried using the MDN as username and password and still it didn't work. I have also tried creating a dial up connection in Windows, that didn't help.
  4. Samsung Mpower TV S239

Even my Samsung Metro TV M519 has 3.5mm Audio jack and Background music playback. But, the pricing of Samsung Mpower TV S239 is unbeatable for it's huge screen. If i had come across this mobile phone while i was planning to upgrade, i would have chosen this.
  5. Samsung Mpower TV S239

It is cheaper not because of New model, new model mobile phones are always tend to be costlier. The mobile phone is cheaper because it has an inferior camera than Samsung Metro TV and build quality too. Even look-wise too i like Samsung Metro more. But the mobile phone is very much value-for the money as it has bigger screen coupled with higher resolution.

Congratulations on purchasing the mobile phone. Did it came with or without 1GB Micro-SD Card?
  7. Hello Everybody Anybody purchased Coolpad S100 mobile phone? If so, please post a detailed review. If possible a Youtube video would also be great.

@ chitshar I think you can buy this mobile phone without any second thoughts. The mobile phone Operating System is very much sophisticated. It clubs all calls and messages specific to a contact in one entry. Shows music player in the idle-screen when an album is played. SMS won't get clogged up by operator messages upon finishing a call, it would just display a pop-up. A toolbar can be added to the idle-screen too. Has slideshow feature in photo gallery. Has steller j2me application support. Most of the applications i tried are working great. Couple of things that i don't like in this OS are direct shortcuts cannot be created for J2ME applications. Slow inbuilt browser. GMail mobile application not work ( Moreover i am using this mobile phone without any covers. The color and material used in the body doesn't allow much wears and even if it gets, it won't be obvious. The mobile phone build quality is also very nice. This mobile phone withstood 3-4 drops in my usage and is still without any obvious wears. All in all a great mobile phone.

@ avishekghosh Yesterday i am also was able to install Google Maps easily. One small help, it may become useful for you too. Can you try installing GMail application in your mobile phone. For your convenience, i have attached the Jar file in this post. The Jar file is meant for Samsung Metro 3G(GSM) mobile phone. Even i can install it fine without any issues. But i am not able to configure email accounts in it. My mobile phone is restarting when ever GMail app tries to connect to the internet. I want to check whether this happens in your end too. mail_m2_ts.jar

How did you install Google Maps. Please elaborate it.
  12. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

Hello Everybody How did you manage to install Google Maps in Samsung Metro TV. Even i was able to install the application. But when ever i try to start the application, it fails to connect to the internet. I tried Google's GMail mobile application. Even it is also not connecting to the internet. This problem only happens in Google Applications. Bitstreem Bolt, Opera Mini, NGPay are all working fine. Can anybody give me some ideas to resolve this issue?

Even I bought the mobile phone for Rs 6000. I recently observed one problem with the mobile phone. Front facia developed lot of wear and tear. These wear and tear looks bad in reflection. Moreover I observed that if we turn off mobile at night then only we can get two days standby, else it is hard. How much battery life the other owners of Samsung Metro TV are getting ?

Samsung Metro TV uses a Micro-USB connector for charging. Even I had the same concern before buying the mobile phone as I experienced lot issues with propereitery connector.
  15. Hello Everybody I don't wanted to Go-Off-topic and spoil Avishekgosh's Samsung Metro TV review thread. That is why i am starting a new topic to discuss about the problem i am facing right now. I would use my Nokia 6303 mobile phone heavily with the Nokia OVI Suite over Bluetooth. So i wanted to try the same in Samsung Metro TV with the Samsung NPS (New PC-Studio). When i tried to connect the mobile phone with NPS, i am getting two kind of error messages. "Failed to open the device" error is received while trying to directly connect to the Mobile Phone. "Failed to change mode" error is received when configure the NPS manually and choose the Bluetooth as connection type and choose the port. I have already selected "PC Studio" as default connection type in PC-Connections menu in the mobile phone. I have restarted the mobile phone couple of times and that doesn't improve the situation. When i browsed the available Bluetooth services in the Mobile phone using Windows Vista, it shows just "Dial-up Networking" service. I have Broadcom Bluetooth stack is installed in my Laptop. File transfer over Bluetooth from Windows Explorer is working perfectly. Only solution i haven't yet tried is updating NPS to 1.5, the version i have installed is 1.4.1. I will try that solution soon and update this topic.
  16. Actually i forgot to update this topic with the conversation i had with Samsung Customer Care (Not Samsung Service Center) They initially asked my Laptop's Bluetooth version, i said my Laptop's Bluetooth version is 2.1 . Then they admitted that the Mobile phone won't connect with the Samsung PC Studio over Bluetooth. One more update is, i was having "Generic Bluetooth Radio" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" in Device Manager. I have updated the Bluetooth driver with Broadcom Bluetooth stack as i know my Laptop's Bluetooth Radio is manufactured by Broadcom. After updating the driver, my Laptop detected all the services offered by the Samsung mobile phone and installed appropriate drivers for it. Before that the Laptop only detected the "Dial-up Networking" service from the mobile phone. But even after this improvement, the situation is still same with the Samsung NPS. As per your suggestion, even i was planning to request some existing Samsung Metro TV users in this forum to check that functionality.
  17. Thank you for trying to help me out in this issue. I also really appreciate your confidence on Samsung Mobile phones. The problem appears to be related to Samsung Mobile phone it self, instead of my Laptop. I can try uninstalling Nokia OVI Suite and shall try reinstalling Samsung NPS and try connecting to the mobile phone. I have a laptop running Windows Vista SP2 32-bit, Microsoft Bluetooth stack, usual array of other softwares along with Reliance Netconnect. I will try installing Broadcom Bluetooth Stack now.
  18. @ kshah Thank you for your suggestions. I have already tried specific the Samsung mobile phone's Bluetooth Modem port to which Samsung New-PC-Studio to connect. Nokia PC Suite was not starting up with Windows. But there are some Nokia services being started automatically without my consent. But that appears to be not the issue in my case. The Samsung Metro TV unfortunately doesn't appear to expose the PC-Studio mode via Bluetooth. The mobile phone doesn't allow me to select what Bluetooth services to be enabled. I have called up the Samsung customer care and reported this issue, they says that "connect with Samsung NPS only via USB cable."
  19. Update : Even after updating the Samsung NPD to 1.5.1, the problem is still there. I am very disappointed about Samsung Metro TV regarding this issue. Now trying to contact Samsung Mobile Phone customer care.
  20. The mobile phone has been removed from Micromax website. So i don't think anyone can find the mobile phone easily in the mobile shops to write a review after purchasing it.
  21. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

I don't know Punjabi language . I am posting just the Pros and Cons about the mobile phone in my short experience with it. Pros : EVDO (Not tested yet) Amazing out-of-the world call quality. Appearance Brilliant Display Metal body Slim footprint Fantastic and sophisticated user interface. Good speaker phone volume. 3.5mm Audio Jack Cons : Keypad Screen size No voice dialing Funky icons In a age of non-established brand's such Micromax and Intex's mobile phones costing 4.+k for similar features without EVDO, the Samsung Metro M519 is a great value. I am just missing the voice dialing facility from my Nokia 6303 mobile phone and 99-speed-dial-entries from Samsung Flo. The pros and cons posted above is purely my opinion. I haven't tested the battery life performance.
  22. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

Hello Everybody After getting lot of useful feedback from avishekgosh and himanshu singh, I am glad to let let you know that I have also bought Samsung Metro TV M519. I'll post a detailed review about the mobile phone later. But even after reading so much favourable feedback about the mobile phone, first impressions was very much positive.
  23. Please tell me why are you calling Micromax mobile phones as crap???? You purchased a low end model and it might not work well, it doesn't mean higher-end models too to be a crap. Please show me the link for your Micromax C2i review. I couldn't find it even by using the search facility of this forum.
  24. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

@ Himanshu Singh Both of you Samsung Metro CDMA owners are praising the look of the mobile phone. I can't get any impressions by seeing the one and only photo available for that mobile phone. If you don't mind, Can you shoot some photos of your mobile phone and post it here?
  25. Samsung Metro TV at a glance!

Couple of last questions. Does the mobile phone support contact photos and photo caller ID ? Does the mobile phone support Per-Contact ring tone ? Last but not least, question. I have used Samsung Flo around 1 and half year and have been using my Nokia 6303 mobile phone since around 7 months, both of the mobile phones survived countless occasional drops. Would Samsung Metro CDMA survive those situations ? Does the mobile phone appears to be long lasting ?
