  1. Blackberry Tour: Unable To Get Data On 1XEV

@Dinkoarun : How did you get to the engineering screen on your Tour? Please share the same with me as I too am a BB Tour user. Thanks in advance.
  2. Which Is Better - 3G or EVDO?

I think we need a more honest debate about the question in this forum. I asked this same question but I've come to terms that the choice is that of the individual. CDMA despite its advantages is been poorly delivered by the operators here in India. The sheer dominence of the GSM players in the market will ensure that India will be more GSM centeric. Moreover, the recent move by the two CDMA majors of getting into GSM is a proof enough in itself. The CDMA guys provide you with unmatched value for money but they lack in the delivery. I think in plain technological and theoretical terms CDMA and EVDO are better but the sheer ubiquity of GSm will ensure that EVDO will always remain in the shadow. Look at the tremedous efforts some of the forum members are making to get the best handsets and accessibility to CDMA users which is what the operators should be doing. I think EVDO is better CDMA technology is better but in the wake of the mobile situation in India you're better off with GSM/3G. I'm open to a debate on it though but I personaly think thats the point you should be thinking from.

  4. Blackberry Service

Hi, I am a BB Tour user and am currently on the E-Lite 299/month plan for BB messenger and emails. I really want to upgrade my self to the full service but have come to notice that the charges at Rs. 1099/- pm are really high as compared to the the equivalent offers from GSM players for Advance Rental of Rs. 6999/- only even RCDMAs advance rental scheme for full BB service is at Rs. 9891/- for the full year.! I can only assume that the high charge for RCDMA even in advance rental scheme is because it offers EV speed compared to EDGE by GSM players. But is the extra charge for the EV speed justified? I need your opinion. Can the fellow forum members help me decide whether the switch to GSM just for the sake of cheaper BB plans is reasonable. Fortunately my Tour will be able to accomodate the GSM service hence will not have to look for a new BB handset. But I will surely miss the RCDMA network and its great call quality which I've become accustomed to! Please advice. Await your opinions and thanks in advance.
  5. Blackberry 9650 Cdma/gsm Launched

Does anyone know when will be this phone be launched on RCDMA? Awaiting its launch so that CDMA BB users like me can come to par with the GSM users of Bold et. al. Finally a CDMA BB with trackpad and Wifi and at par with the bold series. Also called Bold !!! Pls someone share the info about its launch in India on RCDMA.
  6. Sir do you have any idea as to why BB tariff's of RCDMA aren't at parity with GSM players? I mean I simply don't understand the reason for such a major discrepancy from RCOM especially when BB customers are generally high ARPU customers for it? Pls share your thoughts. Thanks once again.
  7. Can anyone pls explain me that with the onset of 3G will RCDMA be better with the EVDO? I mean I use BB services and have currently the Rs. 299/- PM plan for emails and messenger but I want the full internet service and reliance charges Rs. 1099/- PM for full services compared to Rs. 899/- PM by GSM players. Also with the advance rental scheme RCDMA works out to to be Rs. 825/- PM (i.e Rs. 9900/- for the entire year) compared to this GSM players have a advance rental scheme of Rs. 583/- PM (i.e. Rs. 6999/- for the year) RCDMA has always been a value proposition player when you look at its terrific call and sms tariffs but when it come to BB services I dunno why it is refusing to match GSM players tarrif plans? Can any one share their inputs on the same and also if some one know about the advance rental BB scheme of RCDMA? Thanks in advance.
  8. Can anyone share their experience of using a RGSM connection in Vadodara City Guj.? I have a RGSM connection since last 1 year but am not using it as the network is bad. Though the network is been improving the strange thing is that I don't get any network in my office which is situated on Rajmahal Road (Palace Road). I am so used to seeing two/three or sometime no towers in my CDMA phone and despite that the call goes through and the voice quality is uncompromised. But with GSM talking with 2/3 network bars really affects the call quality. The truth is I want a GSM connection and want the freedom to change handsets and while roaming abroad but on the other hand the tariff plans of RCDMA is only available on RGSM. Other GSM providers are charging a bomb compared to Reliance. Their raoming charges are obscene. The fact is that I'm so used to my current bill amount that changing it to let say Vodafone is eaily going to add 300-400 bucks to my monthly outgo !!!! On top of that I had paid 5K for a premium number for RGSM when I took the connection and thus don't want to ditch the number! Even on RCOM website in the network coverage area one can see that near my office RGSM has no towers not a single tower on a 3 KM long important road !!!! The network engineer who visited me recently told me that it will be almost 3 months before towers come up in the vicinity of my office. I want fellow members to share their network experience in Vadodara City and outskirts to help me decide. Thanks in advance.
  9. Reliance Gsm Network In Vadodara

Hi thanks for your reply !!! It seems no one was interested in my post! Like I said I really am in love with RCDMA but I am a Blackberry User and its disheartening to know that the GSM camp gets the best of all new feature loaded phones while I have to pay 50% more for a CDMA Blackberry which dosen't even provide for a WIFI !!!! I was really hoping that the RCDMA qualities get rubbed off on RGSM so that I can still enjoy the value benefits of being with Reliance than anyother operator. But I really am losing my paitience with RGSM. I mean its been more than a year I have the RGSM connection and I am paying Rs. 99 + Tax every month to keep the number and connection alive !!!!! I wish some of the senior memebers could put some spotlight on the work getting done on RGSM's network and what RCOM intends to do with it i.e. put the network qulaity in parity with Vodafone and other GSM players.
  10. Cdma And 3G

I'm a RCDMA BB user and i want to know how will the CDMA technology evolve to compete with 3G? I am currently getting 1X for my voice and EVDO for me emails on the BB 9630. I am requesting the senior members of this forum to explain in a simplified manner how will the CDMA technology evolve to take on 3G and does it make any sense to stick with CDMA with the onset of 3G.
  11. I recently read that Docomo has started its gsm operation in Guj. Even in its main dropdown menu guj. is visible as an option. however, You don't get the plans on offer in guj. when you select it neither you can acess anything else. Also on call their cc they are equally clueless. Can anyone please tell me the exact status of the service of docomo in guj. and especially in Vadodara city. Thanks in advance.
  12. Docomo Service In Gujarat

Now that DOCOMO has started their services in Gujarat can anyone share their experience with us as to how the service is?
  13. I had recently emailed the RCOM Nodal office here in Gujarat complaining about pathetic network and voice quality with my RGSM in Vadodara city. After a week or so I got a call from their local network team and they fixed up an appointment for them to meet me. He first visited my home and thoroughly checked the signal strength with an equipment and checked it in all corners of the house. He than called back his office and told me that there are already two towers in the area and as we speak a third one is being erected. After this he followed me to my office and spent an equal amount of time checking everything. He was forthcoming with the fact that on the road where my office is located they currently don't have any operational towers but there is planning of 4-6 towers on it but it will take minimum 4-6 months to get them up and running. He than told me he will put an request to his higher authorities to install a signal booster (something starting with the letter 'R') in my office to help my case !!!! Moreover, he was a very forthcoming and pleasant man and was definitely a well qualified engineer who had come in a chauffeur driven car all the way from the outskirts of the city! He told me the GSM network will take another good one year to stabilize and that since I'm an already existing RCDMA BB customer since last 5 years I should consider sticking with it as the CDMA technology does have some clear tangible benefits like voice quality and the ability to talk seamlessly even with low signal strength. He also appraised me that with the onset of 3G which he assured me will take a good 1 to 1.5 yrs to become operational for all telecom cos despite the ongoing auction, CDMA won't be at a loss vis-a-vis GSM service or on the contrary it may be able to offer you some awesome network speeds and features. The reason I am writing this is because I found the whole experience quite pleasant even if the problem of RGSM network will take time to resolve I like the way the case was handled. Moreover, since the forum is full of RGSM's pathetic services I thought of narrating this to at least add a counter opinion to the already well documented RCOM service issues that get regularly highlighted on this forum. I would request fellow members to share such experiences if they have any and also comment on it. Thanks in advance should anyone wish to add to this post with some valuable input.
  14. India 3G Auctions Winners

Some one mentioned that Relaince and TATA have EVDO route so they've not bidded aggressively. I want to know that as a loyal RCDMA customer in Guj how will the #G pan out for us considering the fact that Reliance hasn't won in Guj??????? Some one pls explain. Thanks in advance. Sir can you pls explain yourself as to how will the CDMA players take advantage of the EVDO thing. Can you pls elaborate.
  15. Even Vodafone will activate the same costs for their CC calls in Gujarat circle from the 20th of May !!!! looks like GSM players are again trying to collude with each other like their previous attempts to collude on SMS charges and other pricings.
  16. I'd like the senior members to kindly shed light on the following. What does the following mean GPRS EDGE 3G 1X 1XEV 1XEVDO etc. And also can anyone help me understand which is the suprioir technology in these and once 3G starts in India what technology will CDMA operators offer and will it be inventually better than the competing technology vis-a-vis GSm players. I would like fellow members to shed some light on this by posting their views and opinions.
  17. Docomo Service In Gujarat

Thanks for the replies guys. If someone has more info pls share.
  18. Hi, I have recently acquired a Reliance GSM number here in Vadodara Gujarat. But I still don't use it regularly as I've been informed that the network is not upto the mark. I am requesting members to kindly share their GSM network experience in Gujarat especially in around Baroda area. I'd appreciate all feedback. Thanks in advance.
  19. Does any one have any idea as to how will the the Number Portability take place if one wants to migrate to CDMA to CDMA i.e Reliance to TATA. Will we be able to use the the same handsets which I understand are configured to work with only the specified Operator. Does any one have any idea as to how this works???? May be some one has some idea how it happens in other CDMA markets i.e. USA. ????????
