Credit Limit On Reliance Postpaid Subscribers
niket replied to bellamkonda's topic in Reliance Communications
on what charge? its a practice followed by many cos to set a credit limit. if you exceed that limit you may have to make an interim paymet.even after that those guys who got connection using fake address are able to call for upto 40000+.. they certainly are crazy i dont know why there is such prob at places like banglore, mumbai and all. here in cochin i have hardly had any problem and i havent seen guys facing such issues. atleast not in those level. only a few guys have such problems Reliance Credit limit is much flexible. as one RWW guy said me. It depends on many factors like how u paid last bills , your deposite. etc.. -
Dont worry DEL button always helps..

VSNL Ready For Talks On FLAG Telecom Issue. Source: Financial Express, March 11, 2004 Tata-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has stated that it is willing to negotiate the controversial FLAG Telecom issue on terms and conditions that are mutually acceptable. This comes after the two parties have agreed to discuss the issue of bandwidth in an attempt to resolve it. FLAG Telecom was acquired by Reliance Infocomm earlier this year giving Reliance access to huge cable systems and significant access to the international long distance (ILD) business. VSNL, however, holds exclusive rights to the landing station of FLAG and the entire debate has revolved around getting the required bandwidth released. Since VSNL holds the exclusive rights, it is in a position to determine how much of bandwidth should be released. Reliance Infocomm is said to have a huge requirement of 15 STM1s (this translates into 155 mbps of data) for its international long distance service and has charged VSNL with not making available adequate bandwidth. The bandwidth will be also useful for a host of IT and IT-enabled Services (ITES); businesses such as that of BPO would come under this. VSNL officials say that the usual level of capacity required will be given, while additional capacity will be made available through negotiations. Meanwhile, Reliance Infocomm has said that bandwidth prices can be reduced to $1 million per STM from the current level of $5 million per STM. In fact, Reliance has said that VSNL has been creating a scarcity of bandwidth. FLAG Telecom officials, meanwhile, have shot off a letter to VSNL stating that it has not allowed FLAG access to providing bandwidth. While meetings have taken place between the two parties, there is no clear indication when the issue will be resolved. Interestingly, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has said that it will intervene if the issue is not resolved largely because the lack of supply of bandwidth could affect businesses that would require it.

hey niket what exactly do u mean by *warm*?? i absolutely did not get you. It's a spelling mistake "Worm" actually intended. W32.Blaster.Worm caused problem on my PC too. when i Three months ago when i re-installed XP. But problem is diff.. In my modems activity log Sent bytes are too high then received bytes. so this worm sending some data from my pc. And i don't like any Anti virus softs. And XP service pack 1 slow downs PC. So i found that these hotfix released by micro$oft is the best solution to these worm. And i think u r geek here and u better understand it is "Worm" not "Warm". it's my silly mistake. and if u don't then read below .. it just my try to explain. i am aCivil Engg. not Comp Engg. Worm is actually not virus. virus is by nature destructive to OS functions. and most modern Anti virus soft detect any virus even if it is not in their virus database. So, these worms found a new ways.. to damage First these worm copies itself to windows xp users when he connected to net( Because loop holes in M$ Windows) and once activated. it causes RPC service crashes and This crash causes XP to restart. W32.Blaster.Worm has another version also. That slow down the Net connection by sending data. Installing above three files i washed that worm completely. And this worm always get intall itself in New XP installation.(or Not patched by a hotfix or antivirus software) Find full story of this Worm here. If I get Linux version of my CAD and 3D software. Then I never use this buggy **** of M$. To fix loopholes M$ releases Service Packs and It contains New and Fresh Loopholes.

Ambanis throw their lot with Assocham Source: Economic Times, March 11, 2004 NEW DELHI : India ’s biggest business group Reliance has finally shed its chamber neutrality. Reliance Infocomm has joined Assocham as a patron member. Reliance Info is learnt to have joined Assocham only two days ago and the company’s representative is now part of the managing committee of the chamber. At Assocham, the company will share the table with other telecom heavy weights, including Bharti Televentures, Tata Teleservices, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Hutch, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL). Sources said that Assocham’s spirited lobbying for a unified telecom licence regime seems to have done the trick. “We already had one of the strongest telecom membership among all chambers in the country. The entry of Reliance Info has now completes our coverage of telecom sector,” says Assocham spokesperson. For Assocham, Reliance Info membership couldn’t have come at a better time. The chamber which is considered a laggard compared to its cousins — CII and FICCI — is now desperately trying to improve its brand image. The entry of a Reliance group company is expected to give a big boost to Assocham’s efforts to expand its membership and revenues. It will help it drawing more such big-ticket members. “The fact that Indian largest business house preferred us over others is an indication of our strength and vibrancy,” said Assocham spokesperson. Industry bodies have for long been trying to get Reliance on their board but the Ambanis refrained from associating themselves formally with any of them.

Tata, Reliance offices go for own connections Source: Business Line News, March 10, 2004 IN what could spell trouble for BSNL and MTNL, the Tatas and Reliance are completing the task of enrolling their employees and wiring up the offices of group companies with telephone connections provided by their respective telecom companies, Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) and Reliance Infocomm. While the Tata group has been able to do so only in the six circles that Tata Teleservices operates in, Reliance Infocomm has a much larger footprint across the country and is faster in getting its employees and group companies to switch over from BSNL or MTNL. According to industry sources, the conversion of company employees is more in the mobile segment, which may not have much impact on the PSUs. Instead, what should make a dent in the revenues of BSNL and MTNL is the large-scale replacement of the landline connections in the offices of group companies, particularly since the corporate sector accounts for a sizeable chunk of telephone revenues. Retail customers account for only around 30 per cent of the revenues of the telecom companies since the landline rates are subsidised. However, the value-added services for the corporate sector including virtual private networks, leased lines and broadband solutions are the main revenue generators, sources said. Given the fact that the Tata group has control over 93 companies in diversified sectors and Reliance controls as many as 10 companies, the "potential market" lost by BSNL and MTNL could be quite big. What is more, the Tata group also has under its control 54 hotels at 34 locations in India and abroad. The hotels located in the six circles where Tata Teleservices has a licence have already switched over to Tata Indicom. TTSL has applied for licences in seven fresh circles, and once it starts rolling out the services, the remaining hotels too will be rewired. Tata officials said that in Delhi, for instance, close to 50 per cent of all group companies have switched over to TTSL from MTNL. Interestingly, however, the MTNL landline connections in the offices have not been discontinued but are being used only for incoming calls. For outgoing calls and other value-added services, the Tata Teleservices lines are being used. "This is because of our long-standing relationship with MTNL. We do not want to discontinue their connections overnight. All the Tata employees have, however, shifted over their landline and mobile connections," the source said. They added that the remaining 50 per cent of the Tata companies would switch over to TTSL once the task of laying optical fibre cables (OFCs) is completed in the rest of the Capital. A similar situation exists in all the other cities where the Tata group has offices. These are just the potential customers lost on account of Tata and Reliance. Bharti, which also offers landline connections, is also luring other corporate customers away from BSNL and MTNL. Officials of the Tata and Reliance groups were not willing to comment on the revenue that they have been managed to wean away from the incumbent operators. But unless the PSUs gear themselves up to retain the existing corporate customers, they could take a big hit in the months to come.

Reliance Ready To Slash Bandwidth Prices By 70 percent Source: The Hindu, March 08, 2004 New Delhi, Mar 8 (PTI) Reliance Infocomm today said it could reduce prices of international bandwidth by upto 70 per cent if the access to bottleneck facilities (landing station), currently with VSNL, was opened up for competition. "We can bring the prices down to one million dollar per Synchronous Transport Module (STM) of 155 mbps international bandwidth from existing about five million dollar, provided bottleneck facilities are opened up at fair market prices," Manoj Modi, Executive Director, Reliance Infocomm said. This would translate into reduction in prices of international bandwidth by about 70 per cent, Modi said adding it would help the entire IT-enabled services, especially the emerging Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) segment. Reliance Infocomm, which acquired FLAG Cable System recently, has sufficient international bandwidth but was facing difficulties in getting it released from the incumbent Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) Ltd which has the exclusive right on the landing stations. "Various operators are asking us for international bandwidth, but we are unable to provide as VSNL has not released even the 15 STMs," Modi said adding, by doing so India was missing many IT and BPO related business opportunities. Reliance is hoping to set up its own landing stations but that would take another 10 months.

FLAG comes under fire Source: Rediff News, March 10, 2004 Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has joined international carriers AT&T, Sprint and MCI WorldCom in blaming FLAG for reneging on its commitments in bandwidth allocation. In separate letters to FLAG, the companies said the undersea cable network was selling additional capacity to Reliance Infocomm at their expense. Reliance recently acquired FLAG for Rs 950 crore (Rs 9.50 billion). In its letter, MCI said it faced a "severe business risk" and FLAG seemed to have "used us to serve its own business purpose". VSNL, in its letter, said, "Such manipulative actions by FLAG are jeopardising international traffic between India and MCI and abuse monopolistic position. This is highly unbecoming of an international telecom facility provider that claims to be a neutral carrier's carrier." When contacted, Reliance sources said they were not aware of the new developments. VSNL pointed out that even in the case of AT&T, FLAG had failed to honour its agreement to provide 2 STM-1s (1 STM-1 offers 155 mbps bandwidth) between India and the UK. "In the absence of the requested bandwidth capacity, AT&T and VSNL are not in a position to provide the much-desired diverse path between India and the United States to their respective infotech customers," the company said in its note. Reliance Infocomm had earlier accused VSNL of not releasing adequate bandwidth on FLAG, which prevented the latter from offering competitive prices. Reliance had also approached the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India alleging that VSNL had released only 4 STM-1s on FLAG, though it had an agreement with the cable company for 12 STM-1s. VSNL had responded by saying it was not aware of such an agreement and was therefore not obliged to release bandwidth to Reliance.

TRAI Releases Quarterly Performance Indicators Source: Voice&Data, March 08, 2004 The number of mobile subscribers is already higher than the fixed subscribers in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Vadodra, and Shimla. And by this year, India will have more mobile subscribers than fixed subscribers. This was indicated by the Quarterly Performance Indicators of Telecom Services report, released by TRAI for the quarter ending December 2003. In this period, the mobile industry increased its subscriber base by 23.4 percent, from 23.03 million to 28.44 million. BSNL had 4.93 million subscribers while Reliance had 6.24 million. The ARPU for mobile services decreased from Rs 516 to Rs 457. However, there was an increase in the average minutes of use (MOU), from 298 to 301. The trend appears to be due to the decrease in tariff for mobile services. The fixed and mobile services subscribers together reached 70.53 million, a growth of 8.9 percent. The subscribers of fixed service grew from 41.38 million to 42.09 million. The quarter added 846 village public telephones (VPT), which now cover more than 85 percent of the total villages; and there were 17.90 lakhs PCOs in the country-a growth of about 8 percent. The subscriber base of Internet users increased by four percent and reached 4.14 million. Also, govt.-owned ISPs took the no.1 and no.2 positions with BSNL reaching 10.04 lakh and MTNL reaching 6.92 lakh Internet subscribers. The report also stated that, 41 percent subscribers had PSUs as their ISP. Internet telephony also gained ground with a logged usage of 20.1 million minutes, a growth of 41.55 percent over the last quarter.
