Overview of files in locsound Dir In RD 7230 U can download 10 ringtones from R-World. so form mhlsnd1....mhlsnd10 files represents that ringtone files. This are simple midi files with variable size. so u can use any midi file as a ringtone in RD7230 and also with a variable size I uploaded upto 14kb file via bitpim And mhlsndh1.....mhlsndh10(All are 32 byte size) files represents header info of midi files. In-depth review of mhlsndh? files Just for example this is a description of mhlasnd10 In image first line of mhlsndh10 is as 01 06 53 61 74 etc here only 06 is important it is pointer to mhlsnd? file here is shows 06 means it represents mhlsnd7 (06+1) So for uploading rintone u have to overwrite file mhlsnd7 with your midi file. Second line of mhlsndh1 shows 2B 0B which represent file size mhlsnd7 so have to replace that with your midi file size in hex. To do so 1) open calc in scientific mode with decimal selected type your midi file size. 2) now select "Hex" mode now it shows file size in hex in my case it is 2859 put that in second line in reverse order like 0B2B 3) replace worlds Ex. "Sathiya" with your midi file name. 4) overwrite your mhlsndh1 file also. I know this is a long description. but procedure is really short. And more over u only needa good hex editor only no special software required but PSM Plyer is useful to cut down midi files.For 7230 And midi file can be variable in size not like fixed size .DAT file of RD2030 If u downloaded .DAT format file. which is ready made ringtone for LG RD 2030 that file also works with RD 7230 . for that u have to remove first line of that .DAT file rename it with any mhlsnd? file. For RD7230 BitPim works only with version 2.5 drivers and download latest BitPim form It's site. correct me if i am wrong anywhere..!!

Trai Consultation Paper On Number Portability In April. Source: The Financial Express, March 05, 2004 NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will be coming out with a consultation paper on number portability in about a month?s time. It would also release the final consultation paper on full unified licensing within a week, Trai advisor Rajendra Singh said this while addressing the 6th Telecom Summit of Confederation of Indian Industry. Additionally, telecom experts from ABN Amro Bank, Ernst & Young, HSBC and ICICI called for lifting of the foreign direct investment (FDI) limit in order to finance the telecom growth in the country. India will need incremental investments of $10-15 billion over the next five years to achieve the projected teledensity of 20 per cent, said Ernst & Young India?s partner Sanjay Mehta. On the revenue front, telecom revenues will witness an upward trend. The total telecom sector revenues will almost triple to $23-25 billion by 2007 from $9 billion in 2002, according to Ernst & Young. Mobile revenues are likely to grow to around $10.32 billion by 2008 at a 45 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR), despite a 13 per cent annual decline in average revenue per user, said ABN Amro?s executive director (telecoms and media) Vijay Chopra. Meanwhile, Tata Industries managing director KA Chaukar told the media that the company?s telecom investment plans of $2 billion over the next two years will be used towards expansion and roll-out in new circles. He said that the amount would be used for expansion in the existing six telecom circles of Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, as well as for roll-out in the 11 new circles. ?There will be expansion in six circles in the next one month or so and launch in 11 new circles in 3-4 months after that,? he said. However, he declined to comment on recent reports of equity rejig in Tata Teleservices.

new version of "rconnect-cmdline" has bug , u need to setup dns manually if you wish to use that way instead see post sugested by vishal. and ya, coz of bug in vendor provided software do not means linux can't do things. r-connects can work very good in any version/flavor of linux. keep exploring ..

Now this beats me and I start thinking "is something wrong with the MS Excel loaded on my computer?" I did the following calculation using "Bill Gates" Excel: 85MB/256kbps = 332.03 seconds < 6 minutes. You should have taken only 6 minutes to download 85MB download .... why 44 minutes ... was the speed far less than 256kbps on an average (or should I sue Bill Gates for the mental agony caused to me due to errors in his product) ? 32964[/snapback] Bill Gates things are only good to calculate profits.. dude .

WebWorld gives good speed at some specific time of day. anyways web world is not good for office work. I opted for 1200 business scheme of DataOne. so 4GB download is more than enough for me. as speed is more important then download limit for my case. BSNL appointed CRM's specially for DataOne u can call them on their cell phone at any time when there is problem. only after 3 days I can't say on reliability but will post my expriance. well, I first inquired at Reliance before opt for Dataone but I don't think reliance will start in near future in my city.

Just Switched to BSNL Broadband. I have no words to decribe speed. coz even in reliance webworld i didn't got such speed. one example. downloaded openoffice.org beta v1.9 in just 44mins.(Total size arround 85MB) with downloading continue no visible loss in surfing speed. checked speed at bandwidthplace.com and found 263.3Kbps and 253.60Kbps in two differant tests. ADSL modem provided by BSNL comes with in-built firewall router and web interface to change settings. really gr8 move by BSNL.

before connecting phone type command at prompt( terminal ).. dmesg after connect again type same command and see diff.. it now shows what happens during u connected usb device. also shows where is actully mounted the device. use that instead /dev/ttyUSB0.

for some models. u needs to tweak udev scripts.(specially if u r using r-connect script provided by reliance) now with udev u can mount your device anywhere u like. BTW, In above pic shown "Intialization String 1" may varies with model to model. that u can look up from your windows installation for same model.(Control Panel > Phone and Modem > Modem Tab > {Click LG/Samsung/Nokia usb Modem} > Advance Tab) I used r-connect on FC3 for 2 months 8 hrs a day. and ones install find much stable then on windows-xp.

Is 1st April today..!! Still when ever I change scheme. Next Bill surely have errors.( Incorrectly charged specially in case of R-Connect Scheme)

I had downloaded some games and full featured "Wap Browser" also. BTW browser can't open any site because of network problem.. its seems reliance blocked that kind of access.

I'm using mandrake 10.1 and FC3 both are gr8 but configuration of mandrake is much easier. what i like in FC3 default WM is gnome contrast to many other distros.
