This is the best thing if compared to Maptool that maps are in single Bin File. Not only we can download custom maps, there are ready made maps available for use with NavIT also. Just Check here:- WebOS Internals Navit Wiki OSM These provide further links and guides to get maps working with Navit. Though I couldn't find any for India in particular, but that can be made. In WebOS Quick Install, there is already a patch to unhide the inbuilt DevMode application. So no need to install the app, just use the patch and it will be there. Regards

For Developer Mode we can also use:- webos20090606 For me it worked fine. Regards

Vinay, Have you tried both the Roms Treo8 Std and one from Ami. On Treo8 Std, its working w/o any issues for me after I used First Use app. Regards

I am on Tero8 STD Rom right now and not on Ami's Rom. For Diag mode, dialed ##8727277#, thanks to Hitesh Bhai. Got the data working, and almost everything is fine now, including SMS. Tried both the Roms, Treo8 Std & Rimweb Std. SMS problem resolved. Great thanks to Dear Vinay and Amitabh. Couldn't check the Palm Profile part, - because I couldn't use 1x data and don't have wifi in my office - that is because I couldn't connect to QPST for data settings - that is because I couldn't go in Diag mode - that is because I couldn't find USBNet app in Launcher So please tell me how to enter in Diag mode, is there any Konami code for this also as for going into Developer mode. Good finds Vinay bhai, Before trying any other custom rom, I will first try 1.4.1.1 bypass followed by official 1.4.5 update OTA using wifi. If not working than I will try this find from you. Regards

@ami, Thanks for confirming. Did you get rid off this SMS problem. I don't understand, if this is a Chinese/Treo8 Rom issue, why only a few rimwebians (including me) are facing this issue. This issue should be universal, there will be so many people around the globe using these Roms. But there is no mention of this issue anywhere on web/Google/forums. Even Doc had confirmed that there is no issue with the Rom. What can be the reason than?

What I understand is use any bypass Rom 1.3.5/1.4/1.4.1 and do the data settings/palm profile etc and then update to latest WebOS using the update application in Palm Pre, it will update the WebOS OTA to latest 1.4.5 without any needs of activation. I am going to try this tonight at home. Rest Doc can tell better.

Very Sad, Had you used the Java file or done the OTA update. I suffered the same thing yesterday night after using 1.4.5 WebOS using Java installer. But then I used the Bypass Rom from links given by Hitesh Bhai to overcome this situation. I think, It shouldn't have asked for activation if upgraded OTA, that is what I understand from Doc's post

Strange, not alone me, even Ami, Vinay are facing the same issue of truncated SMS for longer than 130 char. That's why I don;''t want to downgrade I updated to 1.4.5bypass yesterday but it didn't resolved the issue, will try this method tonight and update using update application. Hope it will resolve the issue. Thanks for replying.

Thanks again Ami, it worked like a charm. App catalog, Google maps all working flawlessly after creating my Palm Profile. Except the SMS issue, everything else is fine for now. Hope this issue also get resolved soon on the 1.4 onward ROMs. Regards

@ Vinay, no way of going back to hero atleast. Next will be BB, either Bold 9650 or Torch if launched in cdma. But will use this beauty first for a few months. @ Hitesh bhai I upgraded to 1.4.5, though the sms problem is same but it resolved the storage problem I was facing on 1.4.1.1. Now I have a usable storage of 7 GB as compared to 5 GB in os 1.4.1.1. Data is also working but only for browser and not for other apps. I am not able to use google maps, app catalog, google account for contacts/calender. What can be the reason.

I don't think so in case of landlines, what are the options for MNP in landlines except in Metros where Airtel etc are giving service. And in those cases, already most of the customers have shifted to Airtel / Tata & Relaince FWP. If I see example of Delhi, most of the people had already opted for Airtel Land line (Also keeping there old MTNL with zeo rental) due to its good service / broadband connectivity. Kaun si Duniya mein ho Janab. According to the last list of STD codes available with me, out of total 2645 STD codes in India, 2472 are of 4 Digits, 158 are of 3 Digits and only 15 are of two digits. There may be a variance of 5-10% in this list (which I doubt). So on an all more than 93% STD codes in India are of 4 Digit. Forget the small cities, towns and villages, even the STD codes at district level are in 4digits in most of the case. Just see the attached file. Regards STD List.xls
