Reliance Mobile Handset
LG RD 5130
-
Update: I got my phone and charger checked in LG Service centre; they said everything is fine, but the panel needs to be changed because there is some loose contact caused by the old panel. The panel replacement will cost Rs.1125. I have decided to leave Reliance after 3 years and join the GSM world.

manivannan started following Lg Rd 5130 Battery Backup Problem
-
I am using a 5130 for past 3 years. Till now I had no trouble with the handset. But now there is a serious problem. The battery charge gets drained in just one call. If I dont make any call then the battery charge remains for a few hours. When I put it on charger it says "Charging complete" in few minutes but the problem repeats. I changed the battery but no use. Has anyone faced this problem before? How much would it cost to fix this? Thanks, mani

Unable To Install R Connect (usb Cable Xp Sp2)

I missed what he said about his internal modem. Then your solution should work without any problem. -
Unable To Install R Connect (usb Cable Xp Sp2)
manivannan replied to nspendse's topic in Data services
Hi Arun, Won't this cause a conflict ? I guess his internal model would have already been configured at COM1. If he renames his new (USB cable) port as COM1 then he will not he able to use the internal modem. Please explain. mani -
Unable To Install R Connect (usb Cable Xp Sp2)
manivannan replied to nspendse's topic in Data services
This means that your cable driver was not installed properly. Check here: Control Panel -> System -> Hardware (tab) -> Device Manager -> Ports (COM and LPT). Your new port (COM4) will be listed here if it has been installed properly. If it is missing, try to reinstall the cable driver and check again. If this fails again you may have problem with either your USB port or the cable or the device driver for the cable. If you have another USB port in your computer try that. If you do not have another USB port, then try to install the cable in some other computer (your friend's for example) with Windows XP. If it fails there too then try changing the device driver. You can find drivers for PL2303 on the web. (I will try to attach them here soon.) If everything fails then you will have to return the cable to your vendor and ask for a replacement. I have only SP1 installed in my machine. So I am not sure if SP2 is what is causing the problem in your machine. I am sure others can help to clarify this. -
How To Connect When Rconnect Installation Fails
manivannan replied to manivannan's topic in Data services
Hi Alam, did you try to install a standard modem as explained in this post ? -
Hi Meanest Indian, Reliance says that it works only with Mac OS X 10.1.2 to 10.1.5. Yours is 10.3. How do you expect it to work ?
-
Probably your phone does not have that feature (WAP). But don't worry. The Surf option in RWorld is a useless feature. You are not missing anything. You can get a cable and do real web-surfing (using RConnect) instead. (But of course you have to pay for it!)

How To Connect When Rconnect Installation Fails
manivannan replied to manivannan's topic in Data services
Hi Nazir, You can try the data-sync software (for your phone) with your cable to see if it works. You can download the sync software from your phone manufacturer's website. mani -
Correction!! What you download from RelianceInfo site includes the driver for FTDI chip based USB cable - for Mac OS X versions 10.1.2 - 10.2.5. (But what about other cables... like Prolific-based ones ?) If you have an FTDI chip based cable you are lucky. If you have not already bought the cable buy an FTDI chip based one. Better buy it from Reliance itself. The location I have mentioned in my previous post also provides a very brief Installation Guide.

The modem driver for LG RD 2030 is available on Relianceinfo.com (Go to Reliance India Mobile -> RConnect -> RIM Data Cables -> Macintosh). But no cable-vendor provides the driver for Mac. All they know is Windows!! Where will you get the Mac driver for your cable ?

Hi Devesh, Nice effort. But I have already explained the procedure in detail in a separate posting: How to connect when RConnect installation fails. mani

Hi Shuvabrata, Did you try the installer for RD 2030 *after* the installer for RD 5130 failed to install with your USB cable ? mani

How To Connect When Rconnect Installation Fails
manivannan replied to manivannan's topic in Data services
Hi Nazir, Looks like your cable is not working. Since you bought it on Baazee you can report that the product is faulty and ask for a replacement. I bought from the same seller (Nisha-online) via Baazee and got my first cable replaced because it was not working. The first cable I got was from IndCables; then they sent me another cable from Enter Multimedia. It works with the standard 33600 bps modem as I have explained in the posting. It also works with linux (after a kernel recompilation - if you use some latest version of linux you won't need to recompile the kernel). mani -

I read in a posting that RConnect installer for LG 2030 works for LG 5130 too with a third-party USB cable. I haven't tried this yet.
