  1. Error 721, PPP remote peer not responding, will appear when the modem does not receive an answer from the Reliance PPP servers. Assuming there is nothing wrong with your data cable, follow the given steps, it may help you nail down the problem. A. Disable Multi-link for single link connections 1. From the desktop, right-click My Network Places. 2. Click Properties. 3. From the Network and Dial-up Connections window, right-click rconnect. 4. Click Properties. 5. From the Networking tab, click Settings. 6. From the PPP Settings dialog box, click to clear Negotiate multi-link for single link connections. Click OK. 7. Click OK. 8. Close the Network and Dial-up Connections window. B.Verify TCP/IP is bound to the modem within the network stack 1. From the desktop, right-click My Network Places. 2. Click Properties. 3. From the Network and Dial-up Connections window, right-click rconnect. 4. Click Properties. 5. From the Networking tab, verify that Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) is selected as a component that is used by the rconnect connection. Click OK. 6. Close the Network and Dial-up Connections window. BTW which number you"re dialing to, #777 or some another ? Cheers .........................
  2. Effective R-Connect Speeds

Comrades, Seems settings of MTU, MRU, MSS combo is broken on your host, please check it out and if it's 1500 for the PPP adapter, then it's time to do some little tweak while things would be real riddle for neophytes { NO PUN INTENDED }. Riding packet switched network using wireless interface by brain dread operators could really be a show stopper sometimes. Wish I could have S1 pipe at my end :-( Cheers ............................
  3. Hi, Can you confirm that r-connect been activated on your phone, by calling CC on *333. One more reason could be that your PPP Dial Up Adater settings been messed up, check it out. Cheers .........................

  6. Is Lg Rd 2130 Is A Good Model

I am using LG RD 2130 since last december and it's ability to work continuosly without a problem is amazing:-) BTW I use this phone mostly for R-CONNECT, and sometimes it served me for continuous usage of 72/100 HRS without a break. Cheers ............................
  7. 230.4 kbps Connection On LG 6130

Dear nikhilraut, Your download speed increases beacuse your phones modem and PC DTR increases from 115Kbps to 230.4 Kbps, and beacuse the actual CDMA 1x RTT speed is more than 115Kbps. Ummm take it this way, while using 115Kbps interface you been deprived of few more Kbps, but using 230.4Kbps inteface now you can exploit the maximum practical speed of CDMA2000 1x RTT speed, though certainly it's less then 203.4 Kbps. Please see some of my other posts for exact practical speed of CDMA200 1X RTT. I use linux on almost all of my computers :-), I had posted about the speed of my LG-RD 2130 somewhere in this forum but I don't remember the exact link, but it's between 85Kbps to 166Kbps in forward and 45Kbps to 80Kbps in backward link. Cheers ...................... PS . Kbps == Kilo bits per second
  8. Hard Disk, RAM & Others

Hola :-) I have 4*300GB SATA Maxtor DiamondMax 10, 2*120GB SATA Seagate 2*80GB PATA Segate Baracuda on my workstation. My lattop got 320GB SATA, while I have few PCMCIA externel ones for emergeny. Ummm My servers are beast in storage so I won't discuss it here :-) Cheers ......................
  9. 230.4 kbps Connection On LG 6130

Hmpffff, Time to do some troll The DTR speed you mentioning is between phones modem and your usb-serial port, and it don't show anything about the DTR between your phones modem and service provider BST. Thought CDMA 1x RTT ideal speed is far more then 230.4 Kbps, but in practical maximum speed of around 153/76 Kbps can only be achieved. Now here lies the darn problem, because almost all PC in mass uses the serial interface having maximum DTR of 115 Kbps, so it becomes a habit to say the same about actual speed. Which is far away from truth anyway. Most of the CDMA phones have the options to select different DTR between modem and the assocaited serial interface at PC end { I am not counting about the native USB interface, CDC-ACM standard have less headache while negotiating DTR }. There is no such thing like original or duplicate USB-2-SERIAL converter cables, different chipsets used in them have the same objective to achieve and they being designed for the same. I am using TI( Texas instruments ) chipset based prototype card to serve my need and it's working smoothly. Most of the speed problem you guys are facing because of inherent flaws built inside the driver core of micro**** OS, where you have to define too many nonsense and what every another chipset making company try to avoid :-(. Cheers ..................
  10. Problem Using Grey Market Data Cable

Dear groven, Before buying a new phone, please get a new cable, well the chipset your cable is having is not very standard in the market, even the chipset manufacturer are not providing drivers to end user. So I will suggest go for a new cable and please don't buy the same cable and if possible ask the vender to check it first before buying it . Cheers .............................

  19. Bsnl Dataone

Now this beats me and I start thinking "is something wrong with the MS Excel loaded on my computer?" I did the following calculation using "Bill Gates" Excel: 85MB/256kbps = 332.03 seconds < 6 minutes. You should have taken only 6 minutes to download 85MB download .... why 44 minutes ... was the speed far less than 256kbps on an average (or should I sue Bill Gates for the mental agony caused to me due to errors in his product) ? 32964[/snapback] (1). Connection Speed == 256 Kilo Bit Per Sec == 32 Kilo Bytes Per Sec == 1.88 Mega Bytes Per Min. Now 85MB/1.88MB == 44 Mins approx (2). Connection Speed == 256 Kilo Bytes Per Sec == 15 Mega Bytes Per Minute Now 85MB/15MB == 6 Mins approx. So I guess you must start making differentiation between Kilo bits and Kilo Bytes first. Cheers ............................
  20. Problem Using Grey Market Data Cable

Hi, Well going through log, I am having a strong feeling that drivers your're using is outdated or wrong , otherwise your cable seems to working fine. If I am not wrong than you must be using windows XP, the files you have attached don't really have any link with this problem, it would be really helpfull if you can post the files having *.inf extension from your driver cd instead. Cheers ........................
  21. Problem Using Grey Market Data Cable

    Please try seding AT+CTA=30 only as initialization string, from your log it seems that cable is workign fine. 05-23-2005 22:02:50.578 - Initializing modem. 05-23-2005 22:02:50.578 - CD is high while initializing modem. 05-23-2005 22:02:50.593 - Send: AT<cr> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.609 - Recv: AT<cr> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.609 - Command Echo 05-23-2005 22:02:50.609 - Recv: <cr><lf>OK<cr><lf> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.609 - Interpreted response: OK 05-23-2005 22:02:50.625 - Send: ATE0V1<cr> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.656 - Recv: ATE0V1<cr> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.656 - Command Echo 05-23-2005 22:02:50.656 - Recv: <cr><lf>OK<cr><lf> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.656 - Interpreted response: OK 05-23-2005 22:02:50.671 - Send: AT<cr> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.703 - Recv: <cr><lf>OK<cr><lf> 05-23-2005 22:02:50.703 - Interpreted response: OK Above excerpt gives a strong indication that cable is fine ........... 23. Effective R-Connect Speeds

Dear clinton, To keep alive your connection ping the P-t-P end of your connection a.k.a gateway, If you're using linux simply put the folloing to your /etc/ppp/ip-up At the top of the file after export PATH statement enter PPP_REMOTE="$5" and at the end of the file before exit 0 statement enter `which ping` -i 5 -v $PPP_REMOTE >/dev/null & thats all, it will keep your connection alive. What excatly do you mean by getting "unknown host" is it coming after few hopes of traceroute or you are just getting @ the begining. Most probably your dns server is down or having some problem. BTW if you're relying on the relaince DNS servers than you're bound to get these type of problems time to time. The best reliable recursive dns server I found is provided by dyndns.org. A traceroute to www.yahoo.com on my ststem spit this, and I am using rconnect :-) mrx@dacodecz:~ # traceroute www.yahoo.com traceroute: Warning: www.yahoo.com has multiple addresses; using 66.94.230.32 traceroute to www.yahoo.akadns.net (66.94.230.32), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets 1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) 258.728 ms 419.398 ms 259.877 ms 2 97.238.2.1 (97.238.2.1) 279.875 ms 259.509 ms 259.879 ms 3 202.138.101.57 (202.138.101.57) 302.694 ms 256.486 ms 259.897 ms 4 220.224.184.178 (220.224.184.178) 499.862 ms 499.391 ms 499.852 ms 5 62.216.145.221 (62.216.145.221) 538.872 ms 638.377 ms 500.822 ms 6 g2-12-bas2.dce.yahoo.com (206.223.115.2) 540.845 ms 701.181 ms 517.750 ms 7 ge-1-4-4-p444.pat2.pao.yahoo.com (216.115.97.178) 539.845 ms ge-1-0-4-p570.pat2.pao.yahoo.com (216.115.97.6) 718.352ms * 8 ge-0-0-3.msr1.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.64.146) 577.991 ms ge-1-0-3.msr1.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.82.197) 558.244 ms 758.644 ms 9 UNKNOWN-66-218-82-230.yahoo.com (66.218.82.230) 559.853 ms 577.150 ms vl42.bas1-m.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.82.226) 599.851 ms 10 p1.www.scd.yahoo.com (66.94.230.32) 578.174 ms 559.193 ms 580.895 ms Cheers .........................

  25. Stability Of Rconnect Services

For those who missed the boat The cdma2000 1x RTT { Used by reliance right now } systems are designed for a peak rates of 614 Kbps in forward link and 460 Kbps in reverse link and it is achiveable under ideal radio conditions; however, the average rate per user is only 64-153 Kbps in the forward link (CDMA BST to Phone modem) and 56-76 Kbps in the reverse link (Phone modem to CDMA BST). So communication is asymmetrical between phone and BST. 115 Kbps limitation is due to standard serial port speed limitation avaialable on mass pc, it's not a limitation of CDMA 1x RTT itself. Most of the CDMA phone do have the option to support different port speed, 115/230Kbps in general. The reason for having very poor DTR could be many but it don't happen all the time, from my experience things are not that much awful. Lot of things can be tweaked to improve the DTR. Cheers ............................. PS Kbps == Kilo bits per second. KBPS == Kilo bytes per second. 1 Byte contains 8 Bits.
