Dear manivannan, I am afraid you will find none, because it's send directly to the RAS of ms OS through the TAPI api by the rconnect software, they don't maintain persistant information in the standard places. Ummm any api snooper for the ms OS can give you the details about the initialization string. Sorry I dont have LG 5130 phone, BTW I guess "ATZ;AT+CTA=30" would be enough if they are using qualcomm's chipset, as in RD 2030/2130. Another thing is the strict timing requirements needed by the modem, by this I mean modem takes some time to responsd when you send some AT command, now if your modem is not following the standard timing requirements then you really gonna have some headache configuring it. Can you post your modem log, you can find it in c:/windows or c:/winnt directory, it must be somthing like "ModemLog_Standard 28800 bps Modem.txt". [ms OS == win95,98,2K,XP]

Dear arun, I am sure about there interchangeable useability, I am having LG-RD 2130, LG-RD 2030, Samsung SCH 191 in my family :-), my next goal is to have that GTRANS pda, I am looking into it's feature and performance. BTW can you be little more specific about the difference in the pin details, the common set of pins required to get the phone get going is same for both the phones.

USB Not recognised / USB-Serial Converter
dacodecz replied to Shabz's topic in Technical / OS related
Dear rakesh, BTW what is the maximum data transfer speed, that you been able to receive using the serial cable, I guess it wont be more than 115Kbps anyway, but r-connects maximum speed can be arnd 153.5 Kbps though reliance only guarantee for upto 144Kbps, few frequent visits to http://www.testmy.net after 10:00PM can help you find this. Another thing is that seial port is not hotplugable, means you are not supposed to connect/disconnect anything to serial port while your system is alive. Well even though ppl might have survived there equipment because of there this act, there equipment is guaranteed to have the quality performance problem after sometime or it will simply go dead. Ummm it's like this, in inidia when you goto local market to buy some RAM or other electrostatic sensitive parts, most of the time you will find that everthing is OK with the parts you purchased, but In reality your parts already loosed it's performance quality because of the way it's been abused in electrostatic handling. A single session in the lab with a good oscilloscope can reveal this. Now If you are following all the precaution of handling electrostatic device and you are not interested in having some faster data transfer rates or you are having some of the very uncommon and expensice serial port, than it's ok, otherwise you are loosing few kbytes in the pipe as well as your equipments working performance each time you plug it in/out alive. -
Dear friends, The confusion about how much bytes would be in a MB or GB is due to number system. Natively computer uses binary number system so 1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes, but if you are using the decimal number system then things get changed, now 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes. Hard disk manufacturers are using decimal number system when stating there disk capacity, now if reliance is also using the decimal number system then 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 Bytes (decimal system) instead of 1 GB = 1,073,741,824 Bytes. So it all depends upon the color of you spec through which you are peeping in :-). not always a good idea to drop... 25733[/snapback] Hello linuxguy, By default dropping policy I mean dropping all the unsolicited packets in which I am not interested. BTW there are some ports always open on which I am running some services and some for P2P brigade. For rest my policy is if I am not going to you I will not let you come in :-), but if I am going to you then you are always welcome until unless your IP get added to my ban-list. BTW what firewall are you behind ?

USB Not recognised / USB-Serial Converter
dacodecz replied to Shabz's topic in Technical / OS related
Dear friends, After seeing so many posts on this topic and still seeing confused peers I would like to add some handfull information that may help ya all. Is my phone having USB or serial inteface ? First of all not all phone is having native USB interface, by native I mean phones, which do not require any sort of USB-TO-SERIAL converter, for these phones you don't require any specific drivers if your OS is having USB CDC-ACM drivers inbuilt, most of the latest OS don't require anything else. Your phone will be correctly recognised as a modem and then you are all set to go. But as I said not all phones are having native USB implementation, but we all want to use USB cable to get connected to phone. Maybe because we think that we will be having high speed while surfing internet or most of the USB-TO-SERIAL cable got the inbuilt phone charger, so it helps us to surf for longer time when we are having scheme like platinium for rconnect. First of all USB-TO-SERIAL cable can provide you the speed double then of simple serial cable. Most of the PC'S are equipped with serial port having the highest speed of 115200 bps, but almost all phone have the option to connect to the PC'S at the speed of 230400 though by default it's set to 115200 bps only. So using a USB-TO-SERIAL cable can help us gain higher speed between our phone and PC. Now when our phone is having the serial port and USB-TO-SERIAL cable provide us with a serial port at output end and usb interface at input end then why we are having so much probles using it ? There is more than one reason for this, I am listing it here. 1. Most of the problem is due to our assumption that because of USB-TO-SERIAL cable we don't have to use COM port, this assumption is wrong because as I said the sole purpose of the USB-TO-SERIAL cable is to provide a COM port which can communicate with the USB interface. So always remember that you have to use COM port while configuring your PC to get connected to the phone. Now question is which COM port, by default most PC'S have COM1 and COM2, and that also you can disable/enable in the bios of your PC. Well after installing the driver of your USB-TO-SERIAL cable, your PC will have an additional COM port, you can find about it in the device manger dialog of MS windows OS. 2. Driver for your USB-TO-SERIAL cable may be old or incompatible with your current OS, so always get the latest driver from the site of the chip maker for your USB-TO-SERIAL cable chipset, I will list some of the sites of the mostly used chipset in our india. Remember it will help you only if you know which chipset is being used in your USB-TO-SERIAL cable, I hope you can find it anyway. For prolific chipset visit http://tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor/v_fileBrw.asp and select link for your chipset. For FTDI chipset visit http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm and select link for your chipset. For TI chipset visit http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/pr...tusbwinvcp.html Download the latest driver for your OS and follow the installation instructions given on the site. I am using TI's evalution board and it rocks :-). 3. Your modem initilization string is wrong or not suitable for your modem. BTW it would be real nice if someone from reliance provide us the custom modem.inf for the phones they are distributing in the market. I can provide modem.inf file for LG sets if someone needs it. There current recommendation for using standard modem.inf for 28k modem is wrong because there r-connect software is bypassing it's instruction and giving it's own command while initializing the modem. 4. You maybe using a broken USB-TO-SERIAL cable, I suggest when you goto purchase the one, ask the shopkeeper to test it or for a deal of replacement if it don't work. Remember the USB-TO-SERIAL cable maker maybe using counterfeit passive component for price reduction or for profit. I can provide the TI chipset based SERIAL-TO-USB universal cable if there is a demand in volume for a reasonable price. If you are still facing problem connecting your phone to PC after keeping all this in your mind then I will be interested in the details of your setup, so I can help you solve the problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If I will write a kde based software for r-connect how many of you will prefer to use it, and what features you would be expecting from it. Please post your requirements and opinion about it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -
LG RD-2130 is compatible with the data cable of LG RD-2030, maybe others also but I am not aware of them.

<<pppd /dev/ttyUSB0 230400 crtscts asyncmap 0 novj novjccomp lock debug usepeerdns defaultroute logfile /var/log/pppmsg.log c onnect '/usr/sbin/chat -v "" at+cta=30 OK "atdt#777" CONNECT' mtu 264 mru 576>> please change 230400 to 115200 in the script or change the phones data rate settings to 230400, by default it's set to 115200 and your phone and serial port baud speed needs to be at same speed to get going, it seems there is speed mismatch problem from you debug message. If you want I can post another script trimmed for 115200, but I guess you can change it yourself :-). BTW what phone you're using ?

Dear friend, Reliance not uses any sort of hardware protection mechanism at all in it's rconnect software. Rconnect software merely create a internet account and serve frontend for it, and also provide some data transfer statsics, the only unusual thing it do is that it send some phone specific modem initialization string when it try to connect the internet. Well it would be really helpfull if you can provide some more details about the chipset being used in your usb to serial converter, what driver you're using for it and what virtual com port it creates after getting installed. Remember these phones dont have native usb interface it can only be connected to serial port and this usb cables just provides the same. From phone end, it can never know what sort of serial port it's trying to talk to. BTW all lg cdma modem are peeky about AT command set, they even dont have all the AT commands implemented as defined by the CDMA standard and from my experience it seems that os of the phone who is responsible for providing virtual modem services is'nt robust enough to handle the situation when your application try to send it some un-implemented AT command. So from my opinion stick to the modem initialization strings as provided in the reliance software and while configuring you modem always select the com port as provided by the usb cable. If it all fails then you can be sure that your cable is broken, vendor may have used some cheap cable or internal parts and there may be some timing probelms because of cheap crystal they have opt for. Feel free for further query.

Hello, For port number details visit this link. http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers They are not blocking any port on R-Connect, I am even getting service scan packets from there own network anyway my firewalls default policy is to drop, so the scanning host is always getting into black hole :-). I am posting the ip-range registered to reliance infocom by apnic, so if you find any ip from this range is DoSing your system, you can contact the anti abuse support of relianceinfo. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> [Querying whois.apnic.net] [whois.apnic.net] % [whois.apnic.net node-1] % Whois data copyright terms http://www.apnic.net/db/dbcopyright.html inetnum: 220.224.0.0 - 220.227.255.255 netname: RelianceInfocom descr: Reliance Infocom Ltd. country: IN admin-c: JT125-AP tech-c: RS78-AP status: ALLOCATED PORTABLE notify: relianceip_admin@ril.com changed: hm-changed@apnic.net 20021216 mnt-by: APNIC-HM mnt-lower: MAINT-IN-SN changed: hm-changed@apnic.net 20040301 source: APNIC route: 220.226.32.0/22 descr: Reliance Infocom Ltd Internet Data Centre origin: AS18101 mnt-by: MAINT-IN-SN changed: relianceip_admin@ril.com 20040212 source: APNIC country: IN person: Jyotindra Thacker nic-hdl: JT125-AP remarks: Send spam & abuse Reports remarks: include detailed information & Times in UTC remarks: to Antiabuse.support@Relianceinfo.com e-mail: Antiabuse.support@Relianceinfo.com address: C Block, Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, address: Thane Belapur Road, Navi Mumbai address: Maharashtra, address: India phone: +91-2-230382765 fax-no: +91-2-230382899 country: IN changed: relianceip_admin@ril.com 20041207 mnt-by: MAINT-IN-SN source: APNIC person: Rajendar Singh nic-hdl: RS78-AP remarks: Send spam & abuse Reports remarks: include detailed information & Times in UTC remarks: to Antiabuse.support@Relianceinfo.com e-mail: Antiabuse.support@Relianceinfo.com address: C Block, Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, address: Thane Belapur Road, Navi Mumbai address: Maharashtra, address: India phone: +91-2-230382401 fax-no: +91-2-230382899 country: IN changed: relianceip_admin@ril.com 20041207 mnt-by: MAINT-IN-SN source: APNIC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BTW in how many cities they are providing broadband services ?

Dear friends, I am riding on our in-house developed <linux os> heavily tweaked for a normal user. I left the **micro****** brigade when I was introduced to slackware in 1995. BTW how many of ya really know how **micro****** is good for invading your privacy and how good it's to even a script kidde who can make it beg on it's knee every month or so :-). Anyone here wanna join da EG-Linux campaign ?

R-connect Dormancy/disconnection: Solved With Ping
dacodecz replied to Utsav's topic in Data services
Hello, If you're having LG Phones then just use AT+CTA=240 in the modem extra initialization string this will give ya 4 mins of inactivity period before phone getting dormant... The maximum value of +CTA can be 255..... Cheers...... -
Hello friend, I am using PL2303 usb to serial converter cable on regular basis, it works without a hitch. I am posting some general instruction hope it will help you solve the problem. On command prompt type ... dmesg | grep pl2303 < the output would be something like this if pl2303 module is loaded correctly> pl2303 2-2:1.0: PL-2303 converter detected usbcore: registered new driver pl2303 drivers/usb/serial/pl2303.c: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver v0.12 if you get something like this than type on command prompt dmesg | grep tty < the output would be something like this if everything is fine till now > usb 2-2: PL-2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0 ==> look for this line cdc_acm 2-1:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device now if you have only this usb to serial adapter then most probable you will get something like this or check on which ttyUSB??? your cable is attached to it, it can be anything from ttyUSB0 to ttyUSB256. BTW what redhhat linux version you're using. Use rconnect command line tool to get connected to the internet. One thing more I want to share is that with usb to serial converter you can change you PC <===> Phone speed upto 230400 bps, for this check your moble and set the appropriate options and specify the same to the rconnect script. Personaly I am using kppp and it work like a charm, but I had to modify the program a bit, mostly the modem initilization sequecnce, CDMA modems are very peeky about AT command set, send them some wrong and see how they get hanged :-). I am posting my rconnect script maybe it will help ya. Feel free for any further query.
