Nokia Patents C, X Series Brands

Nokia to Revamp Handset Naming Scheme? Techtree News Staff, Jul 29, 2009 1256 hrs IST Would ease a lot of consumer confusion Picture this. You are looking to purchase a new phone after quite some time. You (quite naturally) end up at a nearby showroom. Let's also assume that you had a clear image in your mind as to what features you were looking forward to. Once you enter the shop, the salesperson sprays a bunch of model numbers at you - all separated by a single digit, that too from amongst various brands. At the end of this, you leave the shop- more confused than ever because you don't know how to differentiate between an S5200 and an S3310, or between a 6300, 6303 or a 6212 Classic. Sounds familiar? We are pretty sure that even the most seasoned users might face occasional hiccups in figuring out a phone especially from Nokia, which has a huge array of phones, in various form factors and across various price segments and categories. Same is the case with Samsung and Sony Ericsson. All the while, no one seemed to be bothered to make life easier for people looking for the "correct" phone. However, we have reports of Nokia apparently making an attempt to simplify things for the buyer by revamping its naming scheme. It is reportedly readying itself to announce a new naming scheme at the upcoming Nokia World Conference. This is along with the new X, C and S Series devices that will be announced by the company at the event. What we now know is that every phone from the company would be included in one of the many series and each series would have a set of mandatory features. For example, all E Series would sport a decent messaging client, wi-fi and other important business functionalities that a business user would not want to miss. As for the intra-series naming scheme, the larger the first digit of the series, the higher end the model is. Now, we guess Nokia already has a similar scheme. In any case, we might as well play the waiting and watching game till Nokia actually announces how it plans to go about making things simpler for us mortals. -
maybe they introduce it in future. also dont know what options we get now if we connect it to a computer with a usb cable.

Source Telecom major Airtel today said it has achieved 1 million subscribers in Sri Lanka in a record 171 days of launching services, making its subsidiary Bharti Airtel Lanka the fastest growing service provider in the Island nation."We are pleasantly surprised that we have achieved 1 million customers in Sri Lanka in a record 171 days and would always make available the latest technology in the sector," Deputy CEO of Bharti Airtel Sanjay Kapoor said. Addressing a press conference on the occasion, Kapoor said it is common for any existing competitor to feel wary of a new player and that Airtel has overcome the initial hiccups since it launched its services in Sri Lanka in January this year. He said though Airtel has many products to offer, it will confine itself to expanding its mobile phone services base in the country for the present. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of Bharti Airtel Lanka Amali Nanayakkara said the support from the Sri Lankan government, customers and other stakeholders has enabled the company to become the fastest growing wireless operator in Sri Lanka. She said out of the $250 million that Airtel proposed to bring into Sri Lanka, a sum of $120 million have already been invested. In reply to a question, Nanayakkara said Airtel Lanka proposed to start operations in Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka within three months time. She exuded confidence that since Wanni was being opened after the LTTE war, there would not be much problems due to security clearances to begin services in the war ravaged North. According to an official, Airtel has already dispatched its communication towers to be installed in Eastern Sri Lanka, which has been peaceful for the last two years. Kapoor said Airtel's entry into Sri Lanka led to tariff cuts by its rivals, making customers the ultimate bneneficiary. "The unprecedented acceptance of these services has renewed Bharti Airtel Lanka's confidence to continue with rigor its efforts towards driving efficiencies and delighting its customers," a company release said. Zte To Install 60,000 New 3g Enabled Sites
savramesh posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Source With this total number of telecom sites installed by ZTE will touch 1,10,000 NEW DELHI, INDIA: [/url]ZTE claims that it has received order from various telecom operators to set up 60000 new Software Defined Radio (SDR), with Baseband Unit (BBU) and Remote Radio Unit (RRU) enabled sites for the financial year 2010. "We will put up 60,000 new SDR sites in this financial year across 23 circles across India," said Chen Guanqing, vice-president, After sales and service, ZTE Telecom India. "More than 90 per cent of these sites will be for wireless communication and rest of the sites will be mix of Next-Generation-Network (NGN) and wireline network." He said these sites will support 2G, 3G and 4G network. These sites will easily facilitate infrastructure sharing but will depend on business model of operators and their interest in infrastructure sharing. With this, the total number of telecom sites installed by ZTE will touch 1,10,000. ZTE claims to have covered close to 1500 rural blocks in the last one year through 17,000 sites. ZTE will recruit 1000 new staff to manage these new 60,000 sites. Out of this 1000 staff, 80 per cent will be for technical support and 20 per cent will provide management support. SDR solution based on BBU and RRU are now being widely adapted by telecom operators as by this solution 20 to 30 per cent CAPEX can be saved and 30 to 50 per cent network building period can be shortened when compared to traditional way. The minimum feeder is needed between RRU and tower due to fiber connection between SDR BBU and RRU which will save 60 per cent feeder cost at least. The cost for 2G and 3G site sharing is also saved effectively as the GSM and WCDMA baseband capacity in BBU module can be flexibly configured to meet the requirement. The multi-carriers feature based on Multi Carrier Power Amplifier (MPCA) of RRU module enables smooth evolution for later expansion and the multi-frequencies. Power consumption in these sites is 40 per cent less due to the multi-carriers technology application which leads to saving power. ZTE claims to have registered 100 per cent growth in last financial year and had clocked revenue of $ 1 billion from Indian market. -
