The company had launched its services in Kolkata last month. Now, it will offer its services in 250 towns across the state. The company commenced its Kolkata operations after launching services in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Rajasthan. The company says that MTS has already crossed the one million subscriber base mark since its launch and is expanding its geographical presence to new circles in quick succession. MTS services can be purchased at all telecom retail outlets across the state, where available.

The company, a joint venture between Sistema of Russia and Shyam Group of India, currently has operations in six telecom circles -- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar and Kolkata. MTS would make its entry in more circles over the next few months, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd Chief Operating Officer (TN and Kerala) Srinivasa Rao Saripalli told PTI here today. It planned to unveil its services in Mumbai, Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka circles over the next few months while remaining circles would be covered in a phased manner. With the expansion, the company hopes to achieve a 'significant' subscriber base. "After the pan-India operation, our subscriber base should be significant," he said. Declining to divulge financial details for the expansion plans, he said the company had invested Rs 800 crore for its operations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. "Of this Rs 800 crore, close to Rs 400 crore would be utilised to cover more areas in the two states and also to set up infrastructre," he explained. Saripalli said the company had aggressive growth plans and would soon launch it's wireless internet services, mobile cards and various value-added services. As part of promoting its brand, the company had alloted a 'substantial' amount, he added but declined to spell out exact figures. On GSM mobile technology, he said people prefer GSM because of it's 'legacy'. CDMA is the latest technology and mobile connections' growth is dependent on it, he claimed.

i know some users who use internet to check mails once or twice a week, but never have patience to browse on 256kbps speed. ie they need superbike for a ride of 1 or 2 kms in a week..

I am having a Nokia 1203 handset with tata docomo sim. My phone was working properly till last Saturday. Last Sunday i went to Kerala romaing where my tata docomo was connected to IDEA in some locations. From there the problem started. My phone frequently restarts when it is idle. i have activated PIN code request. So i will know when ever the phone restarts automatically. i returned home with the problem. yesterday alone it restarted 8 times @ home. When i used Aircel sim, it never restarted, then i put tata docomo again, the problem came back. today afternoon i put Reliance Gsm it never restarted, afterwards in the evening i put docomo sim again and so far it didnt restart. Is it because of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz networks ??

since July 15, the problem never came again and phone is working fine..
