Source HYDERABAD, INDIA: Ericsson unveiled its latest radio base station site concept – Ericsson Tower Tube - for the Indian telecom market. The award winning solution reduces total cost of ownership for customers and provide a sustainable, energy efficient and cost-effective means of bringing communication. In contrast to traditional towers, the Tower Tube's design employs modular concrete construction that allows the structure to be deployed quickly and easily, besides providing additional protection from vandalism and lightening. A self-contained site, it safely houses all equipment within its slim design (about 5m diameter at the base), making site acquisitions easier as compared to conventional sites which require more area for set-up. In addition, the Ericsson Tower Tube does not require feeders and cooling systems. This results in up to 40 percent lower power consumption than traditional base station sites. P Balaji, vice president, marketing and strategy, Ericsson India and Sri Lanka, said," At Ericsson, it has always been our effort offer world-class products and services to our customers. This energy-optimized radio base station concept reflects our ability to understand and respond to customer requirements by reducing the total cost of ownership in order to expedite the roll out of mobile communications in India". Designed by Scandinavian architect Thomas Sandell, the Ericsson Tower Tube recently won the Technology Design category of the 2008 Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards.

6. What 11 letter word in the English language ends with the same three letters that it begins with? 7. There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter. from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time? 9. Foreward it is heavy, backward it is not. What is it? 9. What vehicle is spelled the same backwards and forwards? 10. there are 51 students in my class including me. yesterday was my birthday and i took so many chocolates to my class... i planned to distribute chocolates to all friends in a different way - give and take policy.. whatever number of chocos i give to each friend i will take back 50%(half) from them. like this i gave some chocos and take back 50% from each and every student. i started giving chocos to first friend and took half (50%) from him and then gave some to second and took half from him. at last i had only 1 (one) chocolate balance with me. so now tell me how many chocolates i took to class, how much i gave to each student and how much i took back from them?

Huawei launches world's first multi-mode Base Station Controller Source Bangalore: Huawei Technologies launched the world's first convergent Base Station Controller (BSC) which integrates both the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) BSC and the UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) RNC (Radio Network Controller) into one multi-mode controller. The component was launched at the Huawei Mobile User Congress in Munich, Germany. The new equipment will enable operators to achieve the full convergence of multi-mode wireless networks, including greater efficiency with operation and maintenance, radio resource management and transmission resource management. The product has been specifically designed to support multiple wireless systems via a single uniform access network and integrate radio bearers for voice, narrowband data and mobile broadband into one network element. "Convergence and scalability have become ubiquitous links in our value chain and the launch of the world's first multi mode BSC is another key step towards a fully converged network evolution for operators," said Wan Biao, President of Huawei wireless product line. "With one purchase decision, operators can now realize the optimal benefits of ownership from a cost and time efficient solution for multiple network investment protection and enhanced performance." Huawei also launched two software-defined radio (SDR) enabled RRUs (Radio Remote Units) with dual-transmitter capability. The first RRU supports GSM/UMTS/LTE (Long Term Evolution) technologies by using the same 1800M/1900M/850M/900M spectrum and is the only SDR enabled RRU product to have received standardization by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute. The second SDR enabled RRU can provide UMTS/LTE services while using the same 2100 MHz spectrum. Huawei's SingleRAN solution is software configurable according to different traffic models to have more GSM or UMTS capacity. Operators such as O2, China Unicom, America Movil and TeliaSonera were among the first to adopt this optimal, long-term solution. -
Buildings with mobile towers on rooftop under LDA scanner Source LUCKNOW: Buildings that have mobile towers installed over the rooftop have come under the scanner of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), with the authority deciding to send notices to all such building owners to get a clearance. LDA vice-chairman, Mukesh Kumar Meshram said the notices are being sent with a purpose: to see if the buildings have a requisite structural capability and the strength to bear the load of the tower. The LDA has taken a cue from a government order according to which the owner of such building needs to have support of people living in and around the area. LDA has already sent notices to some 60 such building owners in and around Hazratganj, Vidhan Sabha Marg and Naval Kishore Road. Another 13 notices have been sent to building owners in Shardanagar. Some 40 buildings in Gomtinagar (phase I and II) and New Hyderabad too have been slapped with such notices. Meanwhile, two malls in Gomtinagar have been sent notices for not having the requisite completion certificate. Meshram said that the two malls have being given a month to get a completion certificate.

Reliance Comm Gets $2.2 Bln, 10-yr Etisalat Deal
savramesh posted a topic in Reliance Communications
Source * Etisalat India JV to outsource network infra to Rel Comm * Rel Comm exec: money "largely flows" to bottomline (Adds detail, background) By Devidutta Tripathy and Narayanan Somasundaram NEW DELHI, July 22 (Reuters) - Reliance Communications has got a deal worth more than $2.2 billion over 10 years from Etisalat's ETEL.AD Indian telecoms joint venture, which will use Reliance's mobile towers to roll out its network. Etisalat DB Telecom India, in which the Gulf Arab region's second-largest telecoms operator owns a 45 percent stake, has licences to provide mobile services in 15 of India's 22 telecoms zones but is yet to start services. The company will outsource its network infrastructure need, including mobile tower requirement, to Reliance Communications, India's No. 2 mobile operator, the two firms said on Wednesday. "This alliance provides us with key, strategic advantages that will ensure a robust, speed to market and cost-effective roll-out of services," Etisalat Chairman Mohammed Hassan Omran said in a statement. Indian mobile operators are increasingly sharing base stations and tying up with other firms and independent tower firms to cut costs as they expand across vast rural districts and penetrate smaller towns, where low-income subscribers dominate. "Both companies gain in terms of cost optimisation. Since there is marginal increase in capex and cost, the value mentioned largely flows to the bottomline," said Inder Bajaj, who heads Reliance Infratel, the tower unit of Reliance Communications. "We are in advanced discussions with many new and existing operators, which we will announce at the right time," he said. Shares in Reliance Communications, which has a market value of $11.5 billion, were up 1.1 percent at 270.50 rupees by 0716 GMT in a Mumbai market down 0.1 percent, after jumping as much as 4.2 percent after the announcement. Earlier this year, Unitech Wireless, in which Norway's Telenor is taking majority stake, struck a deal with Indian firms Wireless-TT Infoservices and Quippo Telecom to lease towers. Top mobile firm Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular have formed a joint venture that has more than 100,000 towers. Reliance Infratel has around 50,000 towers, Bajaj said. Telecom tower companies have also attracted interest from foreign investors. New York-listed American Tower in March agreed to acquire Indian tower firm Xcel Telecom in its bid to expand in the world's fastest-growing mobile market. Bharti Airtel's tower unit has raised $1.35 billion by selling stake to private equity firms, while institutional investors own 5 percent of the Reliance Infratel unit. ($1=48.3 rupees) -

Source MUMBAI: Leading telecom services provider, Bharti Airtel on Sunday launched a new add on feature - Special 5 for its customers pan-India. The service enables the clients to select a circle of five Airtel mobile numbers, within which call rates will be as low as 20 paise per minute on local calls and 50 paise per minute on STD calls, a press release issued here said. "It helps leverage our large customer-base across the country and thus gives the edge to our customers," Bharti Airtel's CEO, Mobility, Manu Talwar said. In the prepaid plan, customers can register the five numbers and enjoy the benefits over and above the current tariff benefits. For post-paid customers, the scheme will be available as an exclusive special 5 plan, the release said. The scheme is expected to benefit around 10 crore Airtel customers across the country, it said. -

I just saw the view selected source of an external link in my signature.. In that link the target is not mentioned and thats why links opening in same window. I am sure, there should be a setting in the board to open external links in new window.. Also i tried editing my signature in html mode and gave target=_blank for my links but its saving without target. so it should be the board settings. BTW its - Savramesh

What i think is.. they introduced roaming tariff in per min basis is because their network is not up in all circles. They have now tied up with other networks for roaming. So per sec pulse will not work out if we use other network in roaming as both the operators have to share profit. for example when i went to trivandrum last week i was on idea network where tata docomo is not up.. Per sec tariff is only an introductory offer. once their network is up in all circles they may or may not introduce per sec roaming tariff..
-
Dear Deepan What i said is the basic roaming tariff which is common to all operators. there may be roaming rate cutters or packages in docomo or it will be introduced in future.
