^^^ not only cinema hall shops, but bustand shops, tourist place shops, all are selling above mrp.. i have fighted with many shops for selling 1 or 2 rupees above mrp. some years back i heard from a consumer council that if u find some one selling above mrp then ask him a bill and then using that bill we can forward a consumer case and put him on trouble. but most of the shops today will not give bill.. you can try being friendly to him and tell u can claim bill from office etc.. there should be some other way to trap all these shops through sales tax dept. dont know much about it. but i would like to know and do something against this..

Yes i am not at all worried even this happens in all calls because its per second billing.. Also in per minute pulse, not all calls ends at 60 seconds, but it happens sometimes and is equivalent to 60 such calls in docomo if virgin is having gsm ideas then it may happen after docomo launch in all circles.. BTW virgin cdma is yet to start in many towns.. any idea about this ??

Just noticed an interesting thing in call charges i made a call and ended.. my phone shows 0.43 seconds, but i was charged 44p... dont know if this is happening in most of the calls. this shows a 0-1 sec delay or difference between phone counter and tata billing server's counter. when we end a call, phone immediately stop counting, but by the time this end message reaches tata server, it would have counted another second..

By 2011 the number of cell sites will be 4,000 and the presence will be in 3,300 towns,' Himanshu Kapania, director (operations) of Idea, told reporters while launching the company's services here Thursday. Idea, which launched services in Tamil Nadu last month, now has has 1,700 cell sites in 600 towns in the state and has enrolled over 100,000 subscribers so far. Tata Docomo launches GSM service in Karnataka, earmarks $150 mn Source BANGALORE: Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, on Thursday announced the commercial launch of its operations in Karnataka and will invest $ 2 billion for rolling out the services across the country. The company has earmarked an investment of $ two billion on its pan-India GSM network roll-out, to be completed this year, including $ 150 million in Karnataka, Tata Teleservices Ltd Managing Director Anil Sardana told reporters here. Tata Docomo has already launched services in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Orissa and the entire south India is set to go "live" next week, he said. The company's GSM service offers "pay-for-what-you-use" model, with a pulse of one second, and a pricing of one paise per second. Subscribers can call anywhere in India for just one paise per second, and in Karnataka, the GSM service covers 427 towns and 2,642 villages, including in areas of railway lines and highways, Sardana said. Asked about the financial viability of offering GSM service at one paise per second and pay-for-what-you-use model when other operators offer it on per-minute basis, he said the service has "unleashed usage" in the circles it has been launched with the company not only confident of beating its own internal targets but also surpassing them.
  12. Mobile Number Portability May Be Delayed Techtree, Jul 09, 2009 1815 hrs IST If not now, then when? The government's much-hyped mobile number portability (MNP) plan has hit a roadblock. (Techtree had earlier reported that MNP would be introduced in India in September 2009.) Minutes of the meeting on MNP, exclusively available with UTVi, indicates that access service providers have indicated that MNP roll out in a phased manner is not feasible. Other issues raised include: - Problems in call routing and charging in the MNP scenario - No pan-India readiness for MNP; and - Difficult to meet the government set deadline for implementing MNP There is also a technical clash between location routing numbers (LRNs) and STD codes in at least 200 sites. Department of telecom (DoT), however, has asked all service providers to adhere to the timeline. The government has set a time line for implementation of the first phase of MNP as September 2009.

  23. Times of India 18 Apr 2009, 0057 hrs IST, TNN CHENNAI: Mobile phone operators may reject your application for a post-paid connection if they are not satisfied with your credit data! Credit Information Bureau India Ltd (CIBIL), the country's first credit information bureau, has been granted 'in-principle approval' for Certificate of Registration by the Reserve Bank of India, which allows companies from telecommunications and insurance space to access credit data. Prior to this, financial institutions like banks and NBFCs could access and share credit data. The in-principle approval is in line with the provisions of the Credit Information Companies Act (CICA), 2005, which regulates the flow of credit information in the country. "The approval gives us the right to continue our operations and allows telecom companies and insurers to access the CIBIL database. We need to develop and enable our systems so that all this can be put to effect soon," Terry McCafferty, chief operating officer CIBIL told The Times of India. According to the CICA, telecom and insurance companies are not under obligation to contribute data but can access data from CIBIL. However, some 160 financial institutions contribute as well as access credit data to CIBIL's database. CIBIL currently has a database of over 135 million accounts. "We have been in discussions with telecom companies related to the application of credit data for their use. However, our discussions with insurers are limited at this stage and so we will not be able to comment on their exact purpose of credit data," McCafferty said. Credit Information Bureau will be investing in infrastructure and processes to expand beyond the 160 financial institutions (banks and NBFCs share data currently) but did not disclose any figures. The company has been operating in India for over five years and, in partnership with TransUnion, introduced India's first generic risk score. McCafferty said that the company expects borrowers to directly access their credit information from April 2010. As of now, most data is and would be urban-centric but we envisage to include villages at a later stage. The company aims to create greater credit awareness, higher credit penetration and a more informed consumer who understands the importance of maintaining a healthy credit life cycle, a definite win-win for the Indian consumers, credit granters and the economy.

A detailed Calculation % of std calls 84.39 % % of local calls 15.61 % Charged by docomo 1p/1sec for local and std = Rs 18.58 If pulse is 1min and charge is 60p/1min then i will be charged = Rs 21.60 Amount saved by docomo = 21.60 - 18.58 = Rs 3.02 % saved = 3.02/21.6*100 = 13.9815 % If local is Re1/1min and std is Rs1.5/1min then i will be charged = Rs 50.50 [basic tariff of all operators without rate cutters] Amount saved while comparing with basic tariff = 50.50 - 18.58 = Rs 31.92 % saved = 31.92/50.50*100 = 63.2079 % I will record all call charges for one month.. then we shall have a calculation with a rate cutter..
