Coai To Challenge Trai Order On Rcom Interconnection By 21st Aug
savramesh posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
The tussle between Anil Ambani group firm RCom and other GSM operators over interconnectivity is likely to get tougher in the coming days with COAI planning to move sectoral tribunal TDSAT on 21st Aug on the issue. On 14th August, regulator Trai had directed asked GSm players Idea Cellular, BPL, Voadafone Essar and Bharti Airtel to interconnect with RCom by 21st August. It has also asked state-run BSNL to link up with RCom but the PSU is not a part of the COAI petition. A COAI official said the association is readying documents and would file the petition with TDSAT by 21st August. COAI Director General T V Ramachandran had earlier said "We are certainly examining legal option and will take a call on this today". TRAI, in the second ultimatum to GSM operators, including Bharti, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and BSNL, has given 21st August as the deadline to give interconnections to the RCom GSM network. Trai has cited it as a licencing condition for serice providers to provide interconnection to other players, implying if a mobile operator does not give interconnection to another based on mutual commercial agreement, it is a violation of license condition attracting penalty. GSM operators on their part said, Reliance GSM has a new network for which commercial term has to be re-negotiated. The existing arrangement between RCom and GSM operators are for the CDMA network. On 4th August, TRAI had directed GSM players to offer interconnection to RCom by opening up their network to the mobile switching code. GSM operators denied interconnectivity to Anil Ambani's RCom on the ground that the interconnect agreement with Reliance was limited to providing links for its CDMA network. They have asked RCom to renegotiate fresh commercial terms for interconnection to its GSM network. Meanwhile, the TRAI rejected any contention for renegotiation. "This is not tenable as the DOT's instruction dated the 24th March, 2008 for opening of allotted codes and TRAI's direction of 6th January, 2005 are not subordinate to or conditioned by negotiations between the service providers", the regulator said. TRAI also turned down the GSM players' argument that new points of interconnection would have to be created once RCOM's network is established. Citing instructions from the Licensor (DOT), it said there is no reason for any service provider to contravene the instruction issued by the licensor. The resolution of the interconnection issue is crucial to RCOM, as it has recently launched its GSM services in Delhi. In reaction to the directives from TRAI, GSM operators' association COAI said the directive was contradictory and asked for a review of interconnect agreements for the introduction of GSM services by RCom. Reliance Communication was not willing to enter into negotiations for a review of the interconnect agreements with GSM operators, it alleged. "Our member operators have had interactions with RCom on this issue and have indicated their willingness to re- negotiate the commercial arrangements to allow for interconnection with the RCom's GSM network and the opening up of the "90" MSC codes. However, it is learnt that RCom is completely unwilling to re-negotiate the terms of interconnection" it said. -

Toeing the strategy adopted by private operators, state-run BSNL is planning to bundle its CDMA-based mobile connections along with handsets. The company wants to bundle CDMA-Handset/I Integrated Fixed Wireless Terminals of leading handset manufacturers with its CDMA mobile connections. "We want to tie up with those handset manufacturers who are willing to bundle their CDMA-Handset/IFWT with BSNL's CDMA mobile services on non-exclusive basis," said a senior BSNL official. The public sector unit plans to launch CDMA services by the mid-2008. For its CDMA network, the operator plans to set up 10,000 wireless towers within a year. BSNL already provides fixed wireless and limited mobility service on CDMA platform under the name 'Tarang' in some of the existing circles. After government allowed dual technology use by telecom companies, the two PSUs, BSNL and MTNL were among the existing GSM operators seeking to offer CDMA service in the country. Official sources said BSNL had already invited expression of interest from the tower companies and other interested parties for infrastructure sharing. BSNL, which enjoys advantage over other players across India, particularly in small towns and villages, when it comes to telecom infrastructure, wants to leverage it and earn more revenue.

Reliance Mobile Internet Data Plan Introduced Wef 7th Dec 2008
savramesh replied to @mitJ@in's topic in Data services
Charges for accessing 3rd party sites are 10ps/10 Kb Normal KB charges of 10p /10kb is charged while accessing Reliance Mobile World. This means whatever u browse either rworld contents or third party websites u will be charged 10p/10kb only (as earlier it was). the only one unknown truth is -> for unlimited plans like l1, l2, l3, l4, network charges will be free for 3rd party websites or charged 10ps/kb. (they have to confirm this.) but one thing is sure that for the above plans rworld network charges are free. in their website they have mentioned "The network usage charges are applicable to all Reliance Mobile World users having a wap enabled handset." they have not mentioned 3rd party network charges is applicable for all user OR applicable for all plans.. so 99% we will be having unlimited usage as usual. my bill will get generated in 9 days. i will update after that. -

Yes please be united here always and we can enjoy reliance together... If reliance is not providing a good service, we should not leave them and go for another operator, instead we should make them serve us better.... i think they will never ever make such mistakes like this in future as this affects their reputation and leading position in telecoms market. i think some immediate action will be taken on CC service as we all have complained about the poor response. link not working in ur post, put 'l' -> html in the last of link -

Good news Reliance withdrew Re1/10kb Check www.reliancemobileworld.co.in But still one thing is not clear, L1, L2 L4 customers who were using unlimited will be charged 10p/10kb for third party website or still unlimited, the information in the website is not clear again. Anyway CC have mailed me saying its unlimited only. So i think we can enjoy...... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Differential KB Charging Reliance Mobile World TERMS & CONDITIONS 1. I agree with u, most of the times they gives wrong information. They shy to inform us they dont know correct answer instead they say some wrong info, also they dont want to chk with their superiors for correct answers because it will give a bad impression on them. So they put us in hold and act like chking with superiors and give us a wrong info. We should blame the one who recruits these CC's. On the other hand the website is not being updated regularly, if it was happening properly and all info are available then they can reduce more than 50% CC calls from customers. The very much cares the existing customers a lot, u know how they cares ? making the existing customer subscribe to mytunes, news, astro, sms packs etc.. When we have some complaint they will neither call us nor respond. but they regularly call and beg us to activate packs or services like astro, news, friendship, chat, cricket, sms, mytunes and more.... i am getting 3-4 calls every month asking me to activate mytunes, everytime i use to tell them i am not at all interested and dont call me again, but they still do.. once i received an automated call and informed "activate news pack for 25/month and get all headlines in ur phone everyday" - any one hearing this will think u will get news as sms everyday on mobile and activated. after activation i got a message saying call one number like 5123456 to know the news at Re1/min. so 25 per month and usage charges also, if we use 1 min everyday then monthly more than 50Rs. it was my mistake to activating a service without know more about it. so i planned to deactivate the pack. i called up customer care on the same day of activation and requested to deactivate, they said it will be done but i will be charged 25 even for using it less than a day since these are one time service charges and not based on monthly usage. see how they are making money. they will not give full information before activation. My friend is a running a prepaid star outlet. he is running the business in a market and 90% of his customers are labors who dont know english. these reliance people call those customers and tell some thing in english and ask them to press some button to activate services like, news, astro, cricket, mytunes etc.. these customers who could not understand what it is and press the button thinking if not pressed connection will be cut. they recharges their account for only 10Rs, 20Rs etc.. and even that is lost by pressing buttons when they gets unwanted calls. so this clears that ambani's dream is to give cell phone to even poor, labors and get money out of every indian. if we activate do not disturb, they are taking 45 days to register because since then they plan to collect as much as possible from us. and more to say about them.... Dear dhenkuu, adi123 is not telling us, he is informing us what he mailed to reliance.

Reliance Mobile Internet Data Plan Introduced Wef 7th Dec 2008
savramesh replied to @mitJ@in's topic in Data services
@Honest at the same time they have not mentioned Unlimited is only for reliance websites... The CC who called me from town office in my city told that its unlimited for all websites.. I believe in my bill only. even if they have charged, they will give me waiver as the CC who called assured me. i know this CC earlier, i had a complaint regarding coverage 8 months back, for that i was talking to this same CC, she confirmed the coverage will not improve anymore as she don't want to give me false promises. but from corporate center mumbai some one called me and assured that they are trying install a new tower so coverage will improve shortly, so far no improvement, also i heard from technical team that once they setup gsm they will share cdma also in the same tower and that will improve overall network in weak areas. my bill date is 11th so will have to wait for another 15 days... -
