Guys seems u ppl are not upadted on the origami project, better known as UMPC (Ultra mobile Pc's). OQO has been offering this product for some 2 yrs in US but now it has competition from UMPC's. try googling UMPC or Origami and u'll find a host of information on this. Guys in all the UMPC's available, i think the best would be sony vaio UX50 (90, 180 & others). Its got everything OQO has and betters it on speed, performance and features.....try googling for pics and info

i have a lg rd 2130 which i use primarily for sms. Recently i filled up the inbox and now whenever i try accessing the messaging sub-folders, my phone would restart. I can't even go to the option of "erase all messages" as again the phone would restart the moment i try accessing the folder. Has anybody experienced this problem??? If somebody has a solution, plz let me know. I really don't want to take it to the service center because of the hassle involved. If anybody has any solution, plz do let me know as taking it to service center would be my last option. Any help would be greatly appreciated........

Sorry for the late response...... Sadly, LG LSP 340E isn't a great phone for R-Connect. It gives a lot of errors and the speed is quite slow. I have no idea for high speed drivers for this phone plus the fact that its serial based makes it even more difficult to be tweaked. I suggets if u use the phone for extensive net surfing, u rather go for LG LSI 110 cordless (could probably excahnge it). It gives max possible speed and u don't need to purchase data cable as well as it uses a generic USB A to B cable. Don't know about the recently launched LG 350R, so can't comment on its performance....

absolutely agree with you cracker!!!! I too find this as an amazing hack and believe it should be pinned. Its very diificult to get such high speeds on majority of LG phones without this trick......

Hi....can give u some info.... I've been using reliance for the past 2 yrs and trust me even though it might be expensive and slower than airtel (256 Kbps), it think its pretty good if u consider the mobility factor and convenience. There might be better services but since you are concerned with Reliance will come back to the topic.... R-connect download speeds are in the range of 13 - 16 kbps constantly over here in bangalore. I'm using LG RD 5130 and download 24/7. I download 6 GBs every week on an average, so download speed is decent. Just a word of advice, go for LG RD 5130 or 6130 with Original data cable and install the 230 kbps driver if u want to achieve these speeds; else u'll have to settle down with 8-10 kbps with the original drivers. Just search for the post, u'll able to find the 230 kbps driver link. About Voip, I've used dialpad and skype, and to be frank its not awesome by nay means....voice seems to be lost a few times but overall the experience is satisfactory if not good.....Surfing is also fair enough, though not at the speeds of downloading. Overall I'd say its good if u want it as a portable net service otherwise u could look at airtel (Undisputed BEST for their unlimited 256 kbps @ Rs 999/-) or Bsnl Dataone. Relaince is good if u want unlimited downloads and have no airtel covergae in your area.

hi lijodavis.......gr8 work!!! i have a HP pocket pc 2003 edition and i know how to configure it to work with a bluetooth handset to access net using the gprs connection of airtel & hutch. it works fine but the speeds sren't great....... a few days back, after reading the raves & review for nokia 6255 on this forum i was wondering if we could use the bluetooth to access net on pocket pc. good to hear that u could configure it to use internet on your palm. this assures me that we can use it on pocket pc as well. plz give the settings in detail, as in init string, and any other settings. this would help me and others configure our own devices. Even though mine is a pocket pc, u can give the details for ur palm b'coz i believe it wouldn't be much different for pocket pc........ thanks and once again gr8 work buddy!!!!

Hey ramchi...... what GPRS connection are you talking about???? As far as i know airtel offers two types of connection (1) Rs. 100 as rental and additional data charges and (2) Rs 500, better known as MOBILE OFFICE, as unlimited GPRS connectivity including rental and unlimited data. As far as the better connection is concerned......You simply can't compare the two on quality. Its like comparing a Toyota Corolla with Maruti 800. Sure airtel Gprs is cheaper but trust i've used both the connections over here in delhi and while airtel gave me speeds of about 3-5 KBps, reliance constatntly gives me 14-16 KBps download speed and since i download all the time, nothing like it. sure airtel is cheap but only for people on the move for plain surfing and rare downloads; whereas reliance is for all of these including decently high speed and superb roaming in most parts of india......Don't know how is the speed of airtel in all cities but can't really compare it with reliance speeds...... Its all a matter of choice.....you are content with airtel gprs, which is absolutely fine keeping in mind your expectations and needs from ur net connection...... as for people like me i don't mind paying 1500 bucks a month if i get a decent speed like r-connect (Its awright till EVDO/3G hits the market)...... Anyway do clarify which airtel gprs conncetion u've taken for Rs 250 per month. I can keep that to use internet and yahoo/msn messengers on my nokia 9500 (communicator) for in the move till reliance comes up with a good PDA phone.

hey vb86......speaking of sky dth in uk..... do point out some worthwhile features of it so that we can look forward to T Sky!!!

Hey TCP/IP... can you tell what's the name of the software (the screenshot posted by you)?? It looks cool!!!! coming back to your question, the r-connect speeds are pretty gud here in delhi, something like download speeds of 13- 17 KBps all the time and i've downloaded in excess of 5 GBs monthly many a time. but be warned, the sppeds differ a lot from city to city and no other city (namely - bangalore, calcutta, patna) have been able to give even half the speeds consistently that of delhi. so speeds vary a lot from city to city. plz check out with someone in ur city/town before opting for this to make sure ur not in for a bad surprise......all the best!!!

Webmaster, plz tell the step by step procedure if possible so that others can configure it easily. Also can i use my pda to connect to internet using this phone (via bluetooth). I've using my hutch gprs to access internet on my pda and the only prolem is they charge a lot for their data transfers and their speeds are seriously slow. Hope you can guide me and others on this.....thanx in advance.

this might sound silly guys but there's a hole on the side of the LCD which apparently is for 2.5" headset and the manual says the "Boom" headset can be connected to this, but everytime i've tried, it doesn't work in that port..... at a certain point i can hear the incoming voice but the other party can't and this too is quite difficult to ascertain as to at what place it works....has anyone tried using that port and if yes, then has it worked and with which headset......thanx in advance

anytime buddy!!! guess we are all members of forum to help each other, aren't we!!

suggest you to backup your data and go for a fresh installation. see if it happens again, if it does then there's some serious problem!!

No idea about LG FWT, don't know if it would give the same performance. I'd say go for LG LSI 110, the reason being that i have used it and can assure you of a gud performance. Yes it can be charged while downloading, there are two separate ports, one for charging and the other USB. No, none of the reliance phones support fax as of now.....maybe they come up with this in future..... and ya one good thing about this phone (LS110) is that apart from good speeds, the errors are almost nil, something not many phones can boast of....

hi bhavesh....think i can help u a little bit as well. i've had samsung n191 for 2 years and trust me its a gre8 phone for surfing, but its true that you would not get it in the market. But nothing to be sad about, b'coz i've a reliance FWP connection and the handset is LG LSI 110, and trust me its in no way lesser than samsung n191. I constantly get speeds of 15 KBps over here in delhi. Speeds differ from city to city, but rest assured you'll get the top supported speed with this cordless FWP. The only problem with this would be mobility, it being a FWP you won't be able to carry it around. If you can do with this then this is the one of the best phone for surfing available as of now. I also use it for downloading 24/7 and trust me i'm more than happy with it. One another plus with this phone is that you don't need to purchase the cable for this from reliance web world since it uses a normal USB A to B cable which is readily available in the market at dirt prices. You can try searching in the forum b'coz we have discussed the speeds, pro's & cons of various phone models. Hope this helps you make your mind. One last thing, even though the manual says that LG LSI 110 supports only speed upto 115KBps, i regularly get speeds of 15 - 16KBps (140kbps approx.) over here in delhi, so i guess its not something to be worried about. If at all you don't get these speeds, rest assured you will not get it with any phone model in your city. Happy buying!!!!

digit and chip are equally good!!! they cater to geeks and non geeks alike!!! PC Quest is for serious professionals and geeks and so they are in a different league altogether. i'd recommend Digit and Chip for the fun of reading and learning things the simple way...... LIVING DIGITAL is absolute crap......the reviews they carry are just not sufficent and lack detail.....plus their cd and price are not justified. i think it s**ks!! Don't know about other magazines coz never bothered to read them....lemme know if i'm missing on something......

well the local call rates are pretty much the same for FWP. about their cell phones, well the network strength isn't great in delhi and many a times there is poor network signal at my friends place......don't know much about their rates for their WLL phones but they are pretty much average....i believe reliance is any day better considering the fact that they have a huge variety of services..... you can try out their voice services but keep in mind that their customer care is pathetic and they will keep bothering for unpaid as well as paid bills.....personally i would not recommend tata to anyone coz i've had a nightmare with their phone services......AND one final warning - don't even bother about tata if u wanna use the phone to connect to internet 'coz they have a lot of downtime and the speeds are disgusting with lots of error......see my earlier post for more info.... http://www.rimweb.com/forums/index.php?sho...335entry24335

i have a samsung sch n91 and it used to get connected at 230 kbps (connection between pc and the phone) and the download speeds used to be 14 - 15 kbps (average) and maxed out at 20 kbps!! its a great phone to surf the internet but the battery standby is poor. so you need to keep charging the phone while surfing or else th battery would not last more than an hour or so. another thing that i wanted to know if anybody could help me, i currently have a samsung sch n191 which was under dapo and stands disconnected due to some incorrect billing issues which need to be sorted out between me and reliance.... is it possible to switch no.s in my case if i were to purchase a new handset and transfer the dapo no. to that handset and get the new no. on sch n191 using GSK and HCC. I had purchased an original n191 cable for 1200 bucks and don't want that to go waste. please let me know if this is possible.

hi.....was interested in purchasing a mobile primarily for net access, and so wanted to know the various supported data speeds of AVAILABLE handset models and their performance......hopefully this would help people considering to purchase RIM for their net access. please provide the model no. of your phone and the connection speed between the phone and the pc, as well as the maximum speeds attained while downloading...also tell if the charger and the data slots are different so that the phone could be charged while surfing even when using a local data cable....finally drop a note if you would recommend that handset for internet access. I'll start off with my phone- LG LSI 110 (even though FWP). supported phone data speed (connection between phone and pc) = 115kbps Average download speed = 14 KB/s Max speeds attained (at nights) = 17 KB/s (consistent) data cable is a normal usb cable and charging is independent of data cable. Recommendation = Highly recommended if you are looking for a FWP with internet access. apparently gives you higher speeds than shows reportedly, 'coz 17 KB/s = 136kbps (which is theoretically impossible as the connection speed displayed is 115 kbps)..... please share your experieces and comments!!!!

completely agree with you vivek!! Tata's customer care centre is pathetic, i took a FWP connection in october 2004 and they did not have my details till december and after giving them so many requests they had not done it till end december. every month i recieve 15 - 20 calls from them confirming if ihave paid the bill and even after paying the bill, recieved atleats 15 calls for the next 10 days confirming the same...i don't know if they think we are gonna run away with their money or are all frauds!! about the net speed.....well i took their connection primarily for accessing internet as they had the Rs.1500 unlimited plan which reliance did not have back in october, and believe me its an absolute pain......the speeds promised by them is 60kbps and you can get this maybe once in 24 hours...normally download speeds are 5 KB/s (40 kbps) with lots of errors nad most of the daytime the connection wouldn't work......within a few days i started believing they offer UNLIMITED internet at 0 kbps!!! having gone thru all this i switched to relaince the day they came up with platinum plan for inetnet access and believe me i've been more than satisfied with the speeds i expected for the same money.....i usually get download speeds of 14 KB/s and 17 KB/s at night and till date have not experienced any downtime, and the customer care which otherwise is average seems great when you compare it with TATA. i know i might be sounding anti-TATA with all these comments, but trust me these are my experiences with TATA indicom....don't believe me, go to............ http://www.vinuthomas.com/gate.html?name=Forums and look for other people's feedback on tata's services.......... wish they could have a service matching their surname and clean image!!!!!

if u cannot delete the virus, boot in safe mode and then try deleting it with your antivirus software, and still if not possible just delete it manually if u r sure there's just one file, this should take care of the virus. ya, incase u wanna know how to boot in safe mode just press F8 AFTER you see the first boot screen. now about the "Internal Authentication error", you can do this provided you are running windows 98, go to control panel>add/remove programs>add/remove windows components and uncheck Dial-up networking, and press ok. this would remove dial up networking and ya brefore doing this uninstall r-connect completely along with the phone driver. after removing dial-up networking install it again by "checking" it in add/remove programs>add/remove windows components and pressing OK. now install r-connect software and try accessing the internet. this should help you get rid of thsi problem in case you are running Windows 98. but if you are running windows xp try doing a similar thing, and it might work as well but i don't know coz i've never tried this. Hope this helps you!! let me know if it works.

i don't know what tata's PTT has on offer but i've used hutch pust to talk service and even though its fun, but its certainly not what people would want to do often....the biggest drawback being that since it operates like walky-talky only one person can speak at a time and the other big problem being that evertime you speak u have to keep a specific button pressed for the PTT service to work, which can be very iriitating even if u talk for 5 minutes......I don't know why people would go for this service when operators like reliance give free local as well as std calls these days....it makes sense only if u r on roaming and can manage to keep your keep your calm and use it like a walky talky. as for me i deactivated my Hutch PTT the day i came to know reliance is giving free local and std calls and opted for reliance instead, along with my group of friends.

how do u plan to connect the two???? don't know about lg2030 but don't think it has bluetooth, without which its not possible to connect the two...i know this coz i have an iPaq 2210 as well and have tried connecting my nokia 3650 with it.......its possible in that case thru bluetooth but i couln't configure it thoroughly as so didn't work 4 me, but there r people who have done this thru bluetooth.
