How does INP happen? Do we have to fill up a new for, kyc, etc.? Any info will be helpful in deciding the next step now. Thanks.

I've already purchased a new 4G phone but there seems to be confusion regarding the availability of 4G sims at stores in Thane. One of my relatives was given a form to convert to GSM (from CDMA) instead of 4G.
-
Yesterday, a relative went to the Reliance store at Khopat (Thane) to ask for the 4G sim but they said it's not available. Instead, they gave a form to convert from CDMA prepaid to GSM postpaid. Man, this is getting very confusing
-
I'm getting those messages and calls too. Each time on outgoing, we have to "compulsorily" listen to that pre-recorded message. Honestly, the way they are pushing people into this 4G experiment, they're not gaining any fans by this approach.

FRC for postpaid? You mean for prepaid?
-
Looks like no other option but to upgrade. Interestingly, the messages on prepaid numbers are still lax and non-pushy. BTW did you get your sim by courier or from the store?
-
Just wanted to confirm from Postpaid users who who got the sim from the store: Do they ask you for PAN card (ID proof) or Bill Copy at the Reliance store before giving you the 4G sim, or do you have to just pay Rs 25 and the sim will be handed to you, no questions asked? How quick is the process?
-
Yes i also got same call frm reliance.Maharashtra circle Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk Hello Samrat, Did you get your 4G sim by courier or did you have to go to the store (in Thane) to get it? The caller from Reliance said that sim is available only at stores but a few hours later I got a repeat message that my 4G sim has been sent by courier. Such confusing messages prior to launch are not a good sign. Imagine if, after upgrade, we face problems. RCom will say it's because of RJio while RJio will say it's because of Rcom. Classic example of too many cooks.

Looks like CDMA is shutting down in Mumbai on 31 May itself (I thought it was 30 June). Any official confirmation about this from Mumbai or Thane postpaid users? This looks too hasty.
-
Has anyone from Thane with a postpaid Reliance number actually got their 4G sim by courier? So far, I've got multiple messages about the sim being sent at zero cost, but have yet to receive the sim. I know I can get it from the store but I'm wary of being pushed into a plan that hasn't been fully thought through, or a network that hasn't been fully tested yet (given the haste with which these migrations are happening, I'm staying cautious). Besides, I'm hearing different views about ETA for activation, handsets, plans and so on. Frankly, I'm happy with my CDMA line, and if given a choice, I'd stick with it till D-day.

Microsoft Buys Skype For $8.5 Billion
natjay replied to digitalnirvana's topic in General Technical Discussion
Wasn't expecting Microsoft to get Skype but then I think it's about competition. Microsoft wants to feel relevant and aggressive in the Web 2.0 world, dominated by social networks and ever-changing tech equations. -
Airtel Shuts Down Mobile Service In Manipur
natjay replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
These developments are pretty much the opposite of what's happening in the rest of the country. With booming economy and 3G launches, it's almost paradoxical that news like this emerges from the north-east. -
I had intended to get this phone at one time but instead chose Samsung Metro. Hero looks okay for the price vis-a-vis features.
-
An OMH handset supports multiple mobile service providers (like Tata, Reliance, etc.)... EVDO is a signal bar you see on the phone which means it supports data speeds in the broadband range. Me personally have got the Samsung Metro TV. It supports broadband speeds up to 2.4Mbps
-
I usually don't but Samsung phones (more of a LG/Nokia person) but I bought this piece because of the build quality and voice clarity. Paid Rs.6200 for it at the Reliance gallery. The only -ve I see about this is that it can be a little slim for people with big hands, and the shiny, glossy surface tends to be a dust & fingerprint magnet. Other than this, Samsung Metro is a good value phone.
-
Actually a sizable chunk of Reliance's revenues come from data services. So I would imagine they'd pay more attention to beefing up pan-India data services as well. Over the years, the need for reliable mobile Internet access has become quite important when you're traveling between states or in distant corners of the country.

My place is near a tower as well. In fact, I can see it from my apartment window. But still, I seem to be having problems similar to what Himanshu described. I also have a Tata Indicom modem which seems to work better in the terrace area rather than indoors (near open windows). I wonder if it's the same with Reliance as well, irrespective of tower proximity.

I'll second the refund/replace idea as well. When Coolpad initially came out with its dual-sim function, I was very skeptical, but was almost tempted to buy since a few of my friends were raving about it. Thankfully, I stuck with my trusty old LG phone, though I'm looking to shift to a HTC handset for better functionality.

Hello Raghu, LG 6300 is definitely the better of the two (in terms of performance, build quality and price). You had asked if this is a suitable handset for the elderly, and the answer is Yes. Of course, there are better handsets with bigger screens too, but between the two choices you have here, LG 6300 functions much better and feels more sturdy. My grand-uncle has been using this handset for the past few years. He is almost 70 years old.

Need Reliance Mobile Netconnect Dial Up Settings
natjay replied to ashwani_0501's topic in Data services
I have the same model phone but there's no modem in there. I remember the time when most LG phones used to have modems for net access. I think the LG6600 phone has in-built modem. it could be used for Netconnect. -
I had similar issues while recharging through ICICI Bank's Netbanking facility. But the money is usually credited back in 3-4 working days. These days, I use HDFC Bank and the recharge comes in without fail.

Smart GSM service came before the current GSM one. It's different here in Mumbai where we've been used to the CDMA system. I'm specially looking for a plan similar to Rs 303 unlimited downloading for Internet use. Call rates look okay as I'm on CDMA.

It's best to change the handset than to buy batteries for this phone. GTran is an outdated, ancient phone. I was using it till early 2007 and then junked it for something better. Reliance itself has stopped supporting it a long time ago, so finding software upgrades will be a hard task.
-
The thing about Classic handsets is that they charge fast... but also discharge quite easily. I've had a full-charged phone discharge in just 20 minutes of talking.

As of now, LG3100 and LG3510 are the two options worth looking at.
